    Re: 2k23 The Rec

Had the worst rec game tonight. I don’t know what it is about my account or player but literally every other game my teammates decide to freeze me out regardless of performance. I’m
not exaggerating at all. I can have 7 assists in the first half, 2nd half will come and they’ll just decide I don’t get to touch the ball anymore.

Last game I got so frustrated, I spent the 4th quarter collecting 3 sec violations, flopping instead of contesting, and standing out of bounds. They wanted to play 5 on 4, so I let them. I’m the point guard and they literally would not inbound to me. Not ever. I had to steal an inbounds pass from my teammate. By the time the 4th quarter arrived I had 0 stats due to 0 touches. I shot two fadeaway threes from half court and got two turnovers just to feel alive.

Mind you, my idea of a good game isn’t necessarily a high scoring game. A great game for me is usually a high assist game. I’d just like to contribute.

      I understand.

I’m a pretty chill guy, I rarely get too upset when playing video games….but randoms…..man they can do something to you, lol

I can’t do it anymore other than the Theatre

I like your build though, We’ll have to get some games on soon. I don’t get why we don’t have a solid OS five tbh

Yea I've had games where I had like 4 pts, 6 rebs, 1 assists or whatever, but we killed. Someone else was getting rebs, we were playing good d, etc.

I wouldn't be as personal about it. Like I said, there are often threes and I think at halftime... like people may actually get upset about you getting player of the half. IT's not like Oh wow ILLSmak had 20 points in the half, I didn't even know? 15, 8, and 4 steals?? Wow, he's def playing for real. It's just like 'he mighta got player of the half, but he ain't getting player of the game' loool.

And WORST is that you get an OK team... I mean we all flop at each other and clown each other (well I clown them and they clown me back, fairly, if I make a minor mistake. Keeps me on my toes!) but we are capable of winning games. They all quit out cuz the game doesn't go the way they want. My boy is PG and he gets me post touches. That's why every big should have a PG, period. Big gets reb, pass to PG. If you are solo, I'd consider rolling a player who has the ability to grab a defensive rebound. You don't have to raw sell, but if you push the ball up and like get an assist or w/e people will be like WOW. If they don't call time out haha. THEY ONLY GOT SO MANY THO.

I am a hardened vet. I am 50~ percent raw rando now that bigs are decent, and I think that's GOOD. I haven't played any raw rando gms this year, but my friend has to dip sometimes in the middle of games etc, so I've def had some weird experiences. I don't mind as much if we are winning around 50% tho. I can keep going, even if most of the wins are garbo.

I said before, I feel like you can be a missionary of basketball IQ to people, but yeah I'm definitely hardened. It's like scared straight, tho, these kids aren't gonna listen to it. I feel like communication is the key, and if communicating your extreme displeasure is necessary (tap tap to throw an alley from inbound, etc raw chuck the ball from one court side to the other. This one guy was on the other team, running out of bounds, and I tried to bean him, ALMOST haha. Just have more fun, but yea it's also good to learn when to stop.

I wish I could justify quitting in any scenario other than people getting connection errors at tip. Too vain, I want to be seen as an A+ teammate.

Edit: I def don't advocate bullying (tho people who just keep dummin, I'm gonna keep fist pumpin') or selling, but there are times when it's kind of like how you grab your teammate by the face mask and pull their head into yours. It's like do you wanna win or not? I'm trying to win, why aren't you?

If you can properly get that message across, you actually can build bridges, but it really is halfway like a therapy session and halfway like bball "oh time to set up SF because if he doesn't get a shot soon he's gonna stop coming down the court."

I wouldn’t say I take it personal. It just seems like it’s happening more often than not. It’s almost comical. I’m like, does my gamer tag offend? Do they not like my point guard’s face? Lol. What is it?

            Re: 2k23 The Rec

Has anyone ever heard Mike Wang explain why the hell these Ai`s join the rec lobby ??

I`m not even pissed anymore it is beyond pathetic, just i`m curious if he ever clarified this pandemonium.

2k23, and 2k22 are like probably those games, which were re run the most in whole universe.

I recently was thinking, tbh they will not implement 5v5 for randoms, it could hurt VC purchase, many players running squads would be pissed without the easy grind, i bet over 50% of them would quit instead of facing another squad.

There ain`t no passion in this game design from 2k, i realize how world works, and it has to be a money drain, but some tiny effort would be welcomed.

I played World of Warcraft in past, and it also was a money drain, but i felt the devs had a passion for it, you could even meet a gamemaster in the world on server, whatever happened, bug or somethin, contact with gamemasters was very quick, and pro, very pro. I remember when i had a bug in 2k21, contact with them was dreadful.

I promised myself in 2k23 i don`t buy VC`s at all, different approach, playing slowly, grinding Vc in game, no rush, they do not deserve, also the prices this year are insane not to mention.

It's the same with being professional sports players or music artist back in the g. Getting older and more stubborn about your own lifechoices or those of others more mature now, isn't going to change anything. Trust, there won't be enough ppl sitting at home watching each others streams for a liveable income. Someone will need another job, take care lol.

Just ran a game and in the 1st quarter i missed a guy pretty badly on a fast break and i ended up holding it but eventually finding an open shooter and before the guy could shoot the wide open 3 the guy i missed on the break called a timeout

I get on the mic to say wtf and dude proceeds to say I’m trash and cussed me out for missing him open ONCE.

I ended the game 6/7 7 boards 8 assists and only gave up 1/4 to my man. Lol The team ended up trusting me and i refused to pass to him on breaks the rest of the game

I don’t get mad i get even lol

Yeah it seems like this year is "peak toxicity" for The Rec.

It seemed to get really bad during the COVID year/jump to this gen. 2K22 was worse and this year is just unreal.

Before that it seemed like typical online gaming annoyances.

I’m noticing that randoms don’t like to cut. Everyone just stands around the perimeter. Including the center. I’ve seen quite a few centers who seem allergic to the paint.

My favorite thing to do is pass and it makes it tough to create shots for people. Seems like everyone just wants to chuck threes. Makes the offense really predictable.

I'm not a top level rec player but I always felt the paint game was pointless. Dunks and layups get blocked repeatedly online. Nearly all big men can block so driving the lane is 90/10 a block unless it's wide open with zero contest. Until they tone down the blocking so everyone isn't lebron-esque chasing down everything, jump shots and 3s it is unfortunately.
