The things I've tried on both gens thus far (quick game);

- Change side and set post double to "auto" from manual.
- Coach sliders change help defense from 0 to 99.

Then do for my team also.

Tried on All Star, Superstar and HOF. Played 1 quarter (12 mins).

Used Giannis against Nets (matched up with Simmons). And just backed down with Giannis on every possession. Was able to essentially get under the bucket and score for entire quarter. I think just under 30 points. Zero possessions where I saw a 2nd defender and had to pass out of it.

On next gen only, I tried Luka vs Dame and saw a double on the 1st possession of the game. And then the 2nd. Didn't play further than that. This doesn't happen on PC though.

Again, the above Giannis example happened on both gens.

I know you can just play around this issue, but the problem to me is, there's basically a bucket to be had if you want one. I can't enjoy post buckets knowing this - which kills a big aspect for me.

I do appreciate the responses though. And I do appreciate some of the suggestions I've read. That's essentially what I'm looking for in this thread if not to be heard by a dev....

Did you notice any difference when you switched sides and put CPU doubles to Auto from Manual? I used to do that every game in 2K22 then realized I don’t think it makes any difference. It seemed manual was basically also auto.

I don’t know Guys I definitely don’t have that issue with my roster edits and sliders badge edits and roster edits. Right sliders and your problems all solved

Did you notice any difference when you switched sides and put CPU doubles to Auto from Manual? I used to do that every game in 2K22 then realized I don’t think it makes any difference. It seemed manual was basically also auto.

No difference at all.

I don't think the coach help defense sliders does anything on this topic either....

Yea man post your edits. You kind of said the same thing in another thread. Seems like your advertising your slider set. Just post your adjustments.

Also, I believe sending help has to do with post rating. I believe it was like 2k19 in where say you're Jokic and was guarded by Gobert. And you got a switch in where Mike Conley was guard you, the game would not recognize the switch (meaning the game still recognize you are being guarded by Gobert in the post, using his interior post rating). So you would kill Conely with no help coming.

Guys I did there in my sliders!! wrote a detailed book!!! check out my signature or the Slider section..

Now they CluthOz finished his marvelous Jordan 91 era Rosters.. I have begun the
task of going through the roster very meticulously and editing everything!!

I will post the roster as it's done..All credit goes to CluthOz but I'll probably put like 30 - 40 hours into the edits as the factory 91 Jordan Era roster is a mess with Guys Attributes,Defensive Attributes Especially!! Some guys have Badges that have no business getting them..I'm great at editing and knowing how to get the game to play right!!

It takes time , I currently have done all my badge edits,shots, Touches,foul tendency and few other things.. but anyway my edits are easy to do.. check out my sliders!! Trust me you will thank me later!!!!!

If you are not seeing this issue. Then post the exact reason and specific changes you made to nullify the no doubles in post issue. At the present you are just promoting your sliders etc and haven't given us any specific changes you did to fix the issue.
Please do so by testing it on the modern roster I have read the older eras have different coding for doubles. Especially regarding jordan.
So use the modern roster default.
Take giannis and get him to score by backing down a weak defender. Do this repeatedly and then post what you did to fix the lack of help.

Last night I did see giannis doubled a few times in the post area watching and testing a game with my custom roster which gave me some hope. But there were also some moments when he clearly should of been doubled and wasn't. So it still seems to be random and not really based on mismatches and how hot the player is, which It usually is with the past few NBA2Ks.

don't care about my sliders but i definitely did a 40 minute video with my setup.. spent about 3 hours on a detailed post .So don't know what to tell you Nogster. I think its a combo of like 10 things.. Badges,edits to attributes,tendencies etc... but anyway I'm editing Clutchoz great roster & I already have the 2 teams playing great with all my changes..Been playing 2k for years and I normally never post but this year I had to because i kept seeing the same warts !! I knew the first hour I had the game what was going to be needed for the most part.. Anyway info is there .Try it or don't

but jump in on my scenario I created to test my findings!

Also I always give credit to the other OS users that help me as I read a ton of intelligent posts!

Truthfully I haven't touched the new era gameplay. When I did the other day for 1 game with Celtic's 1.65 test roster, I got Destroyed!! LOL ... Your right that I will need to setup a bit of a different set for his roster. As I briefly looked at the way his team is editing the roster and its way different the the 91 Jordan roster from 2k.. Eventually I will get to making a slider set for the new era teams but it took me weeks to develop the set I'm using for the 91 era teams. It's a very good base for new era sliders but I will have to make changes. But I will probably wait until there finished with it , and then I always even with Celtics roster have to go back in and fix a lot of things to get it to play what I think is Sim for my liking.

Once I'm done with my complete edits on ClutchOz and Celtic's roster I will post what all I did... But pretty much I touch every attribute,badge,Tendency etc as they have completed. In the meantime as I do a couple of teams with Celtic's test 1.65 roster I will let you know Nogster , so you can try it.. I also will be posting more videos to my slider section

Unless there is an edit you didn't list or one that previously done to the roster you are using that you are unaware of this should be fairly close to the settings you have except in the modern era. As you can see there is no double team, there isn't even any help. I did this 5 times against different defenders and never saw a double.

I will say I think your sliders are pretty good, I don't think you have a fix for the issue that is being discussed here. It could be the down to the difference in the era's but I don't see any double teams.

If you could post a similar video where you do see a situation like this that would be helpful and its not asking for a lot. I had to input all your settings, run the test, upload the video and write this post and its been 30 minutes max.

No doubt it could be a coding thing with the newer rosters. I really have not set up my sliders or played any time with the newer rosters. I just was stating what I was saying over and over once I did most of my edits with the 91 error roster and the Kobe roster. But like I said, eventually, I will get around to testing the newer era rosters. But it’s not that I don’t believe you. I just didn’t realize potentially the differences in coding with each era.

I have edited the Cavs and the 76ers on Celtics 1.65 roster so tomorrow if I have time I will go on there and try to isolate and back down with a bunch of mismatches and see if the CPU doubles.

Ok, I spent a couple of hours trying to run this down.

There could be a few things in play, but from what I have seen so far it may be an era specific issue(modern vs. Jordan for example). I can't say for 100% but you can see what happened with the default modern roster in my test that I posted previously.

I started testing with my Jordan era roster. First, I made a team of team of all Patrick Ewing's vs all Michael Adams(5'10" pg). I got double teams like crazy.

Second test was Ewing vs. Barkley. I didn't test very long but there were no instant double like with Adams.

Third test Ewing vs. Hersey Hawkins, back to instant doubles.

Then I moved on to actual team vs team games.

These are from my testing the first is cpu vs. cpu, the second is me as the 76ers.

Xavier McDaniel comes over to double Nick Anderson posting John Starks and gets the steal.

I manage to get the pg(Andre Turner) matched-up on Chuck and start backing him down. The double comes a little late(could be the player who was coming to double ratings?) but it does come.

I was using JD's sliders since I still had them loaded and like I said they are not bad.

Here are the ratings I think would be relevant(may not be, but it can't hurt).

Nick Anderson: Post Control-77, Strength-53
John Starks: Interior Defense-60, Strength-37
Xavier McDaniel: Help Defense IQ-79(unsure if this matters)

Charles Barkley: Post Control-87, Strength-87
Andre Turner(being backed down): Interior Defense-28, Strength-52
Ledell Eackles(Coming to double): Help Defense IQ-48

I feel this shows that you can get the CPU to double in the post, in the Jordan era at least. There may be something hard-coded to the era's but as far individual players I have my doubts. The three players in the first video are all "real" players made by 2k(edited by me), the second trio are all players I created and edited.

The thing to keep in mind with the "hard-coded" part of the 90's(and possibly 80's) era is the illegal defense rules. In short in the 90's you HAD to play man to man defense and could not double team a player unless they had the ball. This led to a lot iso ball where a team would load 3-4 players to one side of the court and run a two man game(pick and roll for example) or an iso/post up of some sort. This video does a good job of explaining it and how Chicago used Scottie to game the system in the finals vs Utah.

In conclusion, I also tried various setting for the cpu defense. I increased help D strength to 100, I changed the double in the post coach settings to on the catch and then back to manual(which is default and may be part of the issue but I can't say for sure just seems weird) and then to automatic. I couldn't tell if help d strength was making a noticeable difference. The coach setting gave mixed results at best. I saw doubles with every setting I tired, but the cpu did not double every time on the catch in post when I tested it. It seems that there may be specific areas of the court that the cpu considers "in the post" for the purpose of double teaming on the catch as I would not see double if the player caught the ball on the wing or mid-post and began to back down against an average defender.
