Intending to pass the ball to a clearly open teammate, yet the cpu decides to throw it across court to a teammate with 3 guys on him, resulting in a steal. An issue as old as 2K itself.

Yeah - not using icon passing just results in the stupidest passes being thrown. Or the intended target runs away from the ball and behind an opponent, allowing the steal.

In general, I have no idea why the CPU one-handed catch interceptions are still in the game as they just look ridiculous. They should be deflections.

OMG THE WORST ONE EVER. This comes and goes year by year, but some years or after some patches you get games where the computer controls your guy in mycareer. That has to be the most annoying stuff. It might stop if you get subbed out or back in, but what a buzz kill.

Easily the stutter on fast breaks i play 7 seconds then super slow to exploit my matchups and speed is useless when the cpu uses their telepathy to wrap you up no foul either...

It's stupidly tough to tell whether the second bar of takeover is filled up or not.

It doesn't change colors or pulsate, like it should once it's full.

Instead, it just looks the same as always, doing nothing to grab your eyes' attention, with its same barely discernible, visually off-putting, toothpaste-green gradient.

I must've mistakenly activated it at least 60 to 70 times this year, thinking I had a double takeover, when only the first bar was actually filled up.

How is the UI design this bad on such a commonly used gameplay feature?



Some other takeover-related annoyances:

The ball getting poked loose, or a pass getting tipped, causes you to lose your entire takeover meter, even if the tip doesn't result in a turnover. I get losing some of your meter for giving up a tip, but the whole bar shouldn't be lost unless it's a turnover.

And I don't believe that you should lose any takeover at all for the first three whiffed steal attempts in each defensive possession. Then once you run out of your three adrenaline pellets, any missed steal from the fourth swipe forward should start dropping the takeover meter.

When the CPU employs those offensive sets that have two screeners at the top of the key. The court is already too small and that basically takes up half of it.

Something that ANNOYS me to no end is at the menu screen they have a delay for the pop up...If I go to press A (Xbox) to play a quick game or whatever....their stupid pop up to purchase VC or some in game transaction shows up and IF you're not careful might end up purchasing it.


I just wanna get to playing... Perhaps to make purchase from menu sceen dedicate one of the back buttons or triggers...

In the Xbox Series X Rec Center:

-- The pregame celebration animations tend to only work for the away team; the home team will just stand still with their hands on their hips, even if you try to wiggle your right stick at the appropriate time to celebrate.

-- Most of the manually triggered "after three" celebrations don't work, and will just cause your player to lockup & lose control for a few seconds while he's stuck glitching out. Who doesn't love paying VC for an animation that won't even trigger in-game

-- I appreciate that each season now comes with its own Rec Center jersey design, but why don't the court or the scoreboard change to go along with it? How hard could it be to rename the 3-letter team abbreviations, plus pick some complimentary hues for the court, instead of sticking with the same bland, black/white/red design that we've had since 2K20, especially when its blasé color scheme often clashes with the "drippy" kiddy-colored uniforms.

-- Your Rec Center stats reset and disappear after each season, never to be seen again. Why aren't these saved for permanent viewing in your 2K player card?

-- The Rec Center tracks tons of stats about your player's performance, yet it uses none of this data to match you up with similarly skilled teammates/opponents SKILL-BASED MATCHMAKING, PLEASE!

-- Bring back 2K18 Walkon's pregame shootaround while the matchmaking is doing its thing and is filling out the team rosters. Don't start the game until each team has 5 human players. If I wanted to play with AIs, I'd go loadup MyCareer.

-- In 2K18 Walkon, points guards had the ability to change all of the following team settings: defensive matchups, defensive set (zone, man, press), defensive pressure (smother, deny, gap), offensive freelance (4-out, 5-out), and call set offensive plays (ISO, double ball-screen, off-ball screen). In 2K23 Rec Center, PGs do not have access to ANY of those options

From a sim player point of view having played 2k since the Dreamcast...

1. The fact that 2k has seemed to turn to focus more on the online experience (pay to play) than the core of what makes them great in the first place - the sim NBA experience.

2. The focus on the cheesy myplayer / city experience. I barely play any of this and when I do, a lot of it is so stupid as far as story lines that I lose interest fast.

3. The fact that we are a few iterations into 2k on next gen and in a lot ways the game doesn't look truly next gen.

4. The fact that 2k has no basketball competition which forces them to keep pushing boundaries with visuals and gameplay.

The way the game is deliberately coded to make your blocks and deflections more likely to go back to the CPU. It's an artificial difficulty thing and it can be really annoying, especially as it rarely happens when the CPU blocks you or pokes the ball lose.

I really hope they monitor this thread and can make atleast some of these small changes years game.


When you have the cpu auto adjust the rotation in myleague sometimes it has your players playing 2 quarters in a row. The minutes will be ok but the rotation will be completely off. Which causes your players to fatigue.


Anytime a player gets injured or comes back from one I have to manually change the rotation instead of the cpu being smart enough to do it.

Gotta say, it's a bit of a bummer to grind for a ring all season in MyEras only for the game to skip the championship trophy celebration each year.
