Team Pro Am on Xbox Series X
Almost everything I'm about to suggest has either been in older 2Ks in some form or fashion, or has been apart of other companies' sports games for some time now:
-- Let us play ranked Pro Am games whenever we want, at any time of day, like we used to be able to on the previous console generation. This is the only ranked co-op mode in 2K23, and it's absolutely ridiculous that we can't even play it outside of the dev-mandated "league night" time windows, which many people with job / family / relationship responsibilities are not able to play.
-- Some things that'd improve the pregame, open gym shootaround experience:
- Allow us to disable fatigue in the options menu
- Stop taking away pause menu options like the animation change, badge setup, accessories + shoes selection, and court + uniform design screens once we enter the gym
- Move the ball rack to the side of the court, instead of putting it in the center of the floor, where it disrupts fullcourt dribbling practice
- Recreate the fullcourt 1v1 drill from the old gen MyCourt, where we could dribble up from the backcourt, and try to score over and over again on an AI defender, without needing to change ends or play any defense, all while the takeover bar fills/depletes according to our performance, and the badge activation popup screen is shown. This used to be the best overall and most efficient way to get better at or test out the game, yet it no longer exists on PS5 and Xbox Series X
- Either bring back the netted ball machine from the old gen MyCourt, or add some AI rebounders to the Pro Am gym, so that we can tryout triple threat combos, and practice shooting off the catch with our MyPlayers
-- The session captain (i.e. the first player to enter the gym) should be able to set all of the following options before searching for a game:
- Each teammate's passing icon
- The deadball inbounder
- The freethrow shooter for rimhang technicals and transition take fouls
-- It should be possible to:
- Play with AI teammates
- Set the matchmaking to find other teams with the same amount of AI players (EA's NHL and FIFA series both include this option)
- Pick which position and archetype you want for your AI teammates (e.g. glass cleaner center, sharpshooter power forward)
- Sharpshooter AIs should be able to hit 60% of their open shots, to mimic how skilled-shooting humans tend to perform online, and keep the other team's defense from leaving the CPU open all game long to come double team the ball, like anyone with a brain will do in 2K23
-- The team owner shouldn't need to be present on the court to startup a private match; anybody on the roster should be able to start one.
-- A team's roster size should maxout at 15 gamertags, and the "search for friends to add" function needs to be fixed, because it's currently broken.
-- Team owners should be able to play on a friend's team without having to disband their own team.
-- Improve the uniform "color clash" detection logic, so that your alternate uniforms will actually get used whenever it's appropriate. I've never seen my alts appear in 2K23, but I've been in many, many, many games where the jersey colors were annoyingly similar.
-- New arenas with more elaborate interiors and greater fan capacity should unlock as you progress up the team ranking tiers.
-- The stadium sounds feature that lets you blast airhorns and sirens after every made basket should be removed, as it's just a headache-inducing nuisance.
-- Xbox teams should be able to matchup crossplatform against PlayStation teams, like they can in most other modern multiplayer games.
