Re: 2k "The Little Things" THAT ANNOY YOU:

Team Pro Am on Xbox Series X

Almost everything I'm about to suggest has either been in older 2Ks in some form or fashion, or has been apart of other companies' sports games for some time now:

-- Let us play ranked Pro Am games whenever we want, at any time of day, like we used to be able to on the previous console generation. This is the only ranked co-op mode in 2K23, and it's absolutely ridiculous that we can't even play it outside of the dev-mandated "league night" time windows, which many people with job / family / relationship responsibilities are not able to play.

-- Some things that'd improve the pregame, open gym shootaround experience:
    • Allow us to disable fatigue in the options menu
    • Stop taking away pause menu options like the animation change, badge setup, accessories + shoes selection, and court + uniform design screens once we enter the gym
    • Move the ball rack to the side of the court, instead of putting it in the center of the floor, where it disrupts fullcourt dribbling practice
    • Recreate the fullcourt 1v1 drill from the old gen MyCourt, where we could dribble up from the backcourt, and try to score over and over again on an AI defender, without needing to change ends or play any defense, all while the takeover bar fills/depletes according to our performance, and the badge activation popup screen is shown. This used to be the best overall and most efficient way to get better at or test out the game, yet it no longer exists on PS5 and Xbox Series X
    • Either bring back the netted ball machine from the old gen MyCourt, or add some AI rebounders to the Pro Am gym, so that we can tryout triple threat combos, and practice shooting off the catch with our MyPlayers

-- The session captain (i.e. the first player to enter the gym) should be able to set all of the following options before searching for a game:
    • Each teammate's passing icon
    • The deadball inbounder
    • The freethrow shooter for rimhang technicals and transition take fouls

-- It should be possible to:
    • Play with AI teammates
    • Set the matchmaking to find other teams with the same amount of AI players (EA's NHL and FIFA series both include this option)
    • Pick which position and archetype you want for your AI teammates (e.g. glass cleaner center, sharpshooter power forward)
    • Sharpshooter AIs should be able to hit 60% of their open shots, to mimic how skilled-shooting humans tend to perform online, and keep the other team's defense from leaving the CPU open all game long to come double team the ball, like anyone with a brain will do in 2K23

-- The team owner shouldn't need to be present on the court to startup a private match; anybody on the roster should be able to start one.

-- A team's roster size should maxout at 15 gamertags, and the "search for friends to add" function needs to be fixed, because it's currently broken.

-- Team owners should be able to play on a friend's team without having to disband their own team.

-- Improve the uniform "color clash" detection logic, so that your alternate uniforms will actually get used whenever it's appropriate. I've never seen my alts appear in 2K23, but I've been in many, many, many games where the jersey colors were annoyingly similar.

-- New arenas with more elaborate interiors and greater fan capacity should unlock as you progress up the team ranking tiers.

-- The stadium sounds feature that lets you blast airhorns and sirens after every made basket should be removed, as it's just a headache-inducing nuisance.

-- Xbox teams should be able to matchup crossplatform against PlayStation teams, like they can in most other modern multiplayer games.

This! This is the main thing I cant stand. The Bird/Magic and Jordan years celebration is frustrating to say the least with the camera pointing down to the feet and only being able to see thre NBA Finals MVP trophy as your "Win".

Really hoping they could up the celebration next year for this mishap haha

Re: 2k "The Little Things" THAT ANNOY YOU:

Specific, equipable animations that ABSOLUTELY SHOULD NOT be brought back for 2K24:

        Westbrook attack crossover
It lets you clip / warp through anyone in your surrounding body space, is extremely difficult to strip or draw a charge on, doesn't use any adrenaline boost, and instantaneously takes your player from no speed to top speed. There's zero reason to keep this move in the game, when the LeBron attack crossover is a much more balanced version of it, and can actually lead to turnovers if spammed recklessly or performed in tight confines.

LeBron / Curry / Lillard sizeup escape backwards hop

The same overpowered hopback animation is available in all 3 of these escape packages, and it shouldn't return next year, because the combination of how quickly it happens + how far back it carries you makes it too difficult to defend, when used immediately after a step-forward move, like any of the popular attack crossovers. The Durant escape hopback is a much more balanced version of this move; even though it's quicker than the LeBron escape, it only takes you back about half as far, making it more reasonable to defend.

        Basic 1 spin

This has been a problematic animation since at least 2K20, due to how fast it plays out, how wide its movement arc is, and how far away it'll take you from the activation spot. So now that better-mocapped, more-authentic spinback moves have been a part of the past two 2Ks (maybe even three? I didn't play enough next gen 2K21 to remember if the new spinbacks were in by then), it's time to hit delete on this Tasmanian Devil Looney Tunes bull$#!^.

        Normal 1 stepback

The fact that an animation in the "stepback" category can suddenly launch your player three-to-four goofy-@$$, glitchy-looking stutter-steps forward should be reason enough to remove it from 2K24, without even considering how it's become the most commonly spammed move for cheesers trying to clip past / warp through defenders' bodies for a fake AF "crab" jumper.

        Quick Drops Off One

Who motioncaptured this move: Carl Lewis? Jackie Joyner-Kersee? When a dunk animation looks like it came from an Olympic longjumping competition instead of a basketball match, you know it's time to throw it away. Nevermind that it's harder to block than all of Kevin Durant's burner accounts, can be TRIGGERED from far outside the paint & well beyond the freethrow line, just as CONSISTENTLY as scrolling through Twitter's toxic "For You" section, and can takeoff through more body contact than a human catapult shooting out of a Woodstock '99 mudpit, all without requiring any kind of free-footed, realistically needed run-up time; this dopey-looking, brainbleedingly stupid, Konami Track & Field-quality, masher-favoring dunk package must be banned, if for no other reason than for its awfully out-of-place aesthetics.

        Straight Arm Tomahawks Off One

It's become a commonplace "comp" strategy to equip only the SA Tommys, Quick Drops, and whichever standing dunks your build is eligible for, due to how dominant these two driving dunks are, compared to every other run-up package in the game. Each on-court criticism I presented in the previous paragraph still applies here, except that Straight Arm Tomahawks do look like something prime LeBron or Westbrook might've done on a wide open fastbreak, three to four times a year, TOPS--not every )@## trip down the court, with the regularity of a Lakers-themed talk-block on ESPN's First Fake.

        Michael Jordan Freethrow Line Dunk

People seem to forget (or just never knew) that THIS WAS NOT AN IN-GAME DUNK. So please keep this classic All-Star Weekend jam on all of MJ's pre-Wizards versions, and do make it extremely difficult to perform in normal-NBA-game paint traffic, but it shouldn't be allowed AT ALL on ANY MyPlayers, or given-out to ANY non-MJ MyTeam cards. Some animations should--unlike Dwight Howard's multiple baby mamas--remain exclusive to a single athlete, and His Airness' iconic, shoe logo pose should become one of those special, unsharable sigs.

I'd love them to remove that step back dribble/move the CPU does where it's like someone has yanked the player backwards on a piece of string. It defies physics.

When you get a few seasons into MyNBA and rookie classes are full of players from different years, because the CPU drafts players, doesn't play them a single minute and then the game treats them as a rookie again the next season.

I'm currently in the 2029/30 season and the top five in the ROY race consists of two guys drafted in 2029, one drafted in 2028 and two drafted in 2027.

It's just dumb. In real life even rookies that aren't part of a team's regular rotation will play minutes here and there, if only in junk time. But if they're not good enough to make the CPU's rotation, they literally don't play a minute, sometimes even for multiple seasons, and the rookie classes just get messed up.

After season 2 in nba eras the commentary becomes super stale. There is only play by play commentary except some player specific at free throws. I wish they Just keep the little comments about developments in the league throughout the other seasons too.

i thought i was common sense for years now that if you want to enjoy offline leagues, you need to do 30 Team control. you need to control All Teams and make their rotations manually.

This may be super minor to most folks, but there is a particular audio of the net swish that sounds like it came from Dreamcast and I wish they get rid of it. It’s only 1 net sound. It makes my teeth itch.

Has 2K ever made it so that you can choose your'e arena? I am playing 2K20 and it bugs me more than just a little thing, that I can't play a game like the Knicks and Boston in say, Philladelphia. But if there is a newer version where you can choose arenas, I am ready to upgrade.

When you save jerseys in 2K Share, keep the darn alternate jerseys if they are from the factory updates.

Everytime you may try to get correct uniforms, the game loses alternate uniforms in the Kobe Era

There’s no way anyone from 2K plays this and thinks “oh yeah that’s really good.” There’s no way they are that oblivious to it.

Some of it is non-sensical. Like the CPU setting a pick at the top of the key for some reason being a cue for your defender in the corner to sprint inside.

Exactly. Some of it is cued purely by input too.

Picture a typical 3 out 2 in, ball up top, two wings, post at each block. If you call for the left post to set a ball screen for the ball handler to go right, but once it gets set, you push your stick to the left, the defender in the left corner will sprint in and become the help defender. Regardless of whether you actually come off of the ball or not.

There’s a few things wrong with this. For one, why is the input triggering rather than reacting to the play itself? Second, why tf is HE helping? If it’s going to trigger anyone, it should be the guy on the opposite side of the floor.

There is SO much wrong with the 5v5 defense and this issue alone has been in since at LEAST 2K17. Which tells me they have no desire to fix it.

Czar has commented on this and basically alluded to the fact that that’s as good as they can make it, which is a joke. Although they can’t even fix the coach settings menu without crashing the game (also something Czar has specifically said in the past) so I really have no more hope for 2K when it comes to 5v5. I think what we have is what we’ll have for years to come.
