This is game programming is the best I have seen from any sports game that I have played. You cannot do the same thing over and over and expect to be successful.

If the opposing team that you are playing is stacked with superstars you will have a hard time stopping them. I played the 76ers and got completely torched by Embid and Harden.

Ok so with the right sliders (namely cpu offensive awareness and consistency jacked way up) the cpu being too easy isn’t an issue anymore for me. They’re properly tough with those right sliders.

My new issue is all of a sudden I can’t make any shots especially in crunch time. Does anyone feel like user shot success has been nerfed in the past 2 days? I don’t mean some shots aren’t going in, like tons of shots that should go in are brick city.

For me I've noticed that my team is shooting in the 50-60% range in the first half and then brick city in the 2nd half. I don't know if fatigue is affecting it more or what. Could also be the computer coaching adjustments as well.

They must of lowered the 3-point success rate in the Jordan
Because me and the CPU bricking way too many 3's
They probably did that to encourage us to shoot more mids
I'm playing against the Pacers and Miller is bricking open threes and then I up the CPU slider for 3's to 60 and now Reggie hitting them more often

This is ridiculous this is a mess

Sliders are cool but it bails out the people that are supposed to make things like shooting balanced.

If they are doing 40 tweaks, and each tweak changes the outcome of your sliders, and loading/editing sliders starting from all star/superstar/HoF will give you a different result, the “variety” that sliders gives you really just turns out to be a mess


What’s the point of “balance it yourself you have sliders” if it changes this much

I just played one of my craziest games I’ve played yet. My 83 Lakers beat the 83 Trailblazers 121-99. But don’t let the final score fool you, this was a battle! They were smoking hot in the first half shooting 55% and leading me by 5 at the half. I was down double digits early but battled back and also got hot. Third quarter was back n forth, I think there was about 20 lead changes throughout the game. But in the fourth I locked them down defensively as they couldn’t find open shots like the first three quarters. This game was fun!

What’s the point of “balance it yourself you have sliders” if it changes this much

Man if you think it’s hard to find a balance for yourself imagine how it must feel to make sure EVERYONE who plays the game feels that same balance. I mean I get it, but what exactly is the standard? We have 4 different eras of the NBA, the WNBA, the NCAA and some pick-up basketball in the city. Who do you cater to? Some buyers want shots to fall at realistic rates while others want an open shot with a 99 rating to fall 99% of the time. Hard to say who’s right or wrong. Just my theory, but maybe after the MyCareer community was full of 99s and glitched releases, shot making became too easy at default. Once you tune to make it more difficult for the more skilled/higher rated players, the lower rated players naturally suffer. That’s when they get tricked into buying VC right around Christmas time and we get slideritis. This **** ain’t new. 2K is 100% responsible for the competitive balance of online modes so I’m very appreciative of the tools they give us to customize our offline experience. 🤷🏾*♂️ I’ll take the developer that drops too many updates over the one that goes a full cycle without releasing the update that was promised before launch any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

I dunno but I think the issue is resolved? It may not be as good as pre patch since I have to boost cpu sliders a bit, but they’ve gotten so good I’m slowly starting to creep cpu sliders closer to where I had them pre patch (though they’re still boosted, but I also have learned some new strategies and tricks to make myself better).

I haven’t seen how the cpu acts when they go cold though since I’ve their sliders too high to allow that. But maybe that means the cold issue isn’t as bad anymore?

But more or less the game is feeling pretty much like pre patch to me. I just want to know it’s frozen where it now is cause it’s hard to enjoy it when I have to keep tweaking sliders to compensate for changes.

Yes, it's frustrating. But the system the game runs on is open to us (who play offline). I hate the updates, sure. I loathe them. But I never once forget I can change literally everything about this game however I want to.\

The other option, is I buy a game... and it's f***** and I have no way of changing it. At all, it's broken and locked away from me enjoying it because developers decided NOT to give the consumer the freedom to change the vast majority of under the hood attributes, tendencies, sliders, adjustments, etc.

2K has ALWAYS been at the forefront of allowing that to the consumer.

Do I think it looks weird that I have to have the CPU slider on 63 for the CPU to make 35% of their 3's? Sure... but not too long ago I HAD to have the slider on 33 just so they'd stay BELOW 40% lmao.

Every. Single. Year. I find the perfect (or acceptable) balance for realism, gameplay, and sim stats. Always due to the groundwork laid here at these forums and a few Youtube slider guru's.

I always check my frustration at the door at a patch, when it's pretty simple to adjust to my offline needs. Because I don't EVER... EVER... get that in ANY other game. ESPECIALLY one as subjective as a sports game.

But yeah, I agree, phantom patches and slick updates without notes certainly is frustrating for a short period.

Yesterday I play a couple games in which the CPU shoots a respectable 49% and 53%. I'm thinking, Cool, I got these sliders locked in again, I'm saving 'em.

The next game, later on that evening, the CPU shoots 67 effin' %. And I'm playing 12-minute quarters. Explain that to me? I didn't just have an off-game, either. I myself shot 57%, I held two different 12-point leads in the game. I'm getting great blocks, steals, and double-teaming to create chaos for the offense, only to see the CPU get ridiculous bailout shot clock buzzerbeaters, and offensive rebound 2nd chance points. The CPU just never ceased, constantly making 2 out of 3 shots for the entire damn game, en route to a 10-point come from behind victory.

I am so pissed. And confused. This game is Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde ...

I just had my best funnest game on 23 yet! My 83 Lakers lost to the 83 Celtics 115-103 at the Forum in LA. Both teams shot 45% and both teams had 30 FTAs. I like where I have the game slider wise, especially CPU’s that I’ve disconnected the internet when I play this game. The Celtics even committed a flagrant foul. First time I saw that!

I still think this game is totally off with shooting since whatever update or patch they did before Christmas. I’m playing Superstar which before I had no shot on but now even here I’m finding it too easy because the CPU shoots so bad.

Superstar. CPU shooting sliders all plus 10 and shooting fouls 100. User plus 5 and free throw 80 user timing because Real Free Throw is broken. Played 2 games with it and between the two was 39-40 from the line. And just an FYI, I’ve tried other peoples sliders. Straight with no adjustments and adjusted shooting and nothing is fixing it.

1st thing is in current era is what I’ve been playing. It’s all guard centric and they just Jack up 3s and miss.

Just played a half that is a microcosm of all that is currently wrong with this game. Bucks(me) vs Mavs (CPU). 12 minute periods. 37-31 me. Mavs are 13-43 & 3-23 from 3. 2-7 from FT Line. And since we are both missing so much I had 39 boards in first half. I shot 16-44 and 2-12 from 3. Mavs: Doncic 2-10, 0-3, Bullock 1-7 all from 3. Hardaway 0-7, 0-5 from three.

It’s crazy and this is how all my games have been going. Even great players can’t shoot for CPU. And the mid range is terrible. Guys just keep missing if they take them at all

I was enjoying this game so much when it came out and couldn’t wait to play. Haven’t played much at all in 3 weeks and tried this weekend hoping for a fix. All awful.

This was my favorite 2k if all-time and they killed it.

I know Czar comes here sometimes has anyone heard anything from him or anyone acknowledging this is a problem? I really only come here to OS, are any other places talking about this. I feel like I’m a 10 year old kid but I just want it to go back to how it was.

So disappointed.

The feel of the game seems to change everyday,
even without an in game update, right now the cpu defense is tough and not as easy to blow by than it was as early as this morning After the patch, right now moving as the user feels a bit sluggish with more if a weight feel to your movement, and it's harder to shoot, but I like that the cpu defense is better and not as easy to get around, but the feel of the game will probably be different tommorow

I'm relatively certain there's been another change to the way the CPU plays recently. Maybe it was from this week's substantial patch; perhaps it's from something different.

Either way, the CPU feels more unstoppable than it has since the last patch came out. CPU's are hitting 60 percent on me with no issue, I sort of feel like I'm on skates defensively, and I'm not sure they missed an open mid-range jumper all evening.

On the defensive side, I'm noticing my players getting stripped on layup attempts more often and perimeter defenders as a whole seem to be more proficient (though big caveat there: my two most recent games have come against the '87 Bucks with near-prime Sidney Moncrief out there, a defensive monster).

I wanted a more competent CPU offense like we had before so if this holds, I think it should be a good thing. It's just, the constant slider adjustments necessary every time game play changes is growing just a little tiresome.

My advice to anyone that enjoy the way the game plays is turn the internet off your system before you boot up the game, that seems to be the only way the gameplay and sliders stay consistent
