Thank goodness I love the sandbox that is this game, so I can tweak it to my liking. But the way 2k needlessly plays this cat & mouse game with no publicly stated purpose, I'll save my $70 in future years and more importantly, save the time I put in to re-create shoes, rosters, signatures, and, yep, sliders.
Same. I would’ve stuck with 2K22 cause it was playing just right but the Jordan theme and likeness updates were literally what I always wanted and the one thing that could get me to switch. Next year it doesn’t matter what they do. I get way too invested in getting the game just right and the constant cat and mode even months after release is too stressful.

I always say the most enjoyable time to own a 2K is in its finals months before replacement, when they stop updating it. Which means the best time to own 2K is when it’s not a current model game (if you play offline).

For the record I want CPU defense to be as good as possible. I have cpu defensive sliders all the way up to 98 , but I play a superleague so it’s necessary to mitigate all my O/P scorers. But making inside shots and layups impossible to make is ridiculous.

I’m fine with the defense in the game, but they need to d stop messing when shot success. LEAVE IT ALONE! Now I’m gonna have to Jack up layup sliders? Only for them to buff it again forcing me to have to correct sliders again.

It’s stays over correction with 2K.

It's like they've realised the CPU doesn't recognise mismatches so this is the "fix" when you get it down low against a guard/smaller opponent.
I've noticed this too. My last 2 games both me and the computer were missing a laughable amount of inside shots. Even wide open fast break layups were missing

Ridiculous. So now it’s a whole new rabbit hole to go down. Due to their constant messing with shooting I at least know how to fix that. Drop jumpshot defensive strength sliders, lower timing impact, raise shooting sliders. Easy.

Getting inside scoring right is more complicated and also new territory for me cause it was fine before (maybe a bit O/P but not to the degree of the level of correction they applied). Because we can raise inside/layup sliders but I have a feeling since this is defensive contest related, that won’t suffice. So then next option is to lower interior/layup defensive strength sliders but it’s been said when you do that (at least in previous 2K’s) you lose some shot contest animations inside and also it lowers shooting fouls in the paint, which is the last thing we need. Not sure if that’s true with this game, but many long time players said it in past years.

I’ve said it many times. No matter how many AI advancements 2K makes to their games, eventually they all end up playing like 2K22. It appears that formula is how they need online modes to play in order for them to get maximum returns.

So when 2K24 drops and the gameplay is “so amazing!” it’s just a matter of them chipping away at it daily or eventually in a big patch. And I thought we were safe with 2K23 since they didn’t mess with the gameplay for MONTHS! I think nothing was changed for the first couple or few updates at least. It made us all feel comfortable that it was gonna stick around in its intended form for good.

I Also noticed 2k lowered CPU 3- Point shooting
In the Jordan era 8 play against Reggie Miller and Glenn Rice bricking to many open threes I even turn their slider to 62 for 3's still bricking now it's starting to be unrealistic from the CPU again wow🤦

Re: Is it me or did the CPU get WAY WORSE

The fact that 2K says nothing about what they are changing with the gameplay just makes dissent grow. No one has any clue what is going on outside of the people who adjust the gameplay since there are no notes when tuning is adjusted.

Ok so in my latest game I boosted inside and layup success sliders 2-3 points and in the most recent game it SEEMS ok. We’re making paint shots like the old days. I just hope it stays like this now. No more changes. For the love of basketball gods, no more changes. Every game you don’t know what you get.

What do you have lay-up defense strength sliders at? I usually have them all at 75 for both myself and CPU (schnaidt's sliders) but I dropped them to 50 for the last game and there were at least some inside shots made, although still not close to what I'd consider realistic.

Oh yeah 75 would work for how overpowered inside shots before the recent change. Not that would be impossible.

I have them (defensive strength layup sliders) at 50. I raised inside shot/layup success sliders for me and CPU to 52 or 53 (depending on home or away as I separate them) as they were 50 before.

Hoping last night wasn’t a fluke as it felt good. Not as overpowered as originally but not nearly as bad as the night before.
