I just played a game and noticed no difference in CPU offense/shooting. Seems User shooting is easier. After first quarter I was encouraged by CPU as they shot 40% and scored 20 points. But after that more of the same bad CPU shooting. After three quarters they scored about 45 points and I was up 100-45 using 83 Lakers against 83 Bulls. I know those Bulls were a bad team but not that bad. For the fourth quarter I bumped all CPU shooting sliders to 100 and my contest to 0 to make final score respectable. They hit every shot in the fourth so at least I know sliders will work to find a balance.

CPU playing trash for me. 0% on free throws with very late or early releases, not even timing shots, bricking things they used to score from the perimeter.
Do I have to start a new MyNBA?... But hey VC sale!!Comment

Is it me or did the CPU get WAY better
Well they did it. After playing tonight actually had me feeling like going back to Madden. Just won a game on whatever the highest level is. Hall of Fame? Ive never been able to even have a competitive game on this level. And the final was 84-82. Spurs at Clippers. I was Clips so yes I had the advantage but even so I’ve never been able to take any team and compete on the highest level. I started on my normal sliders and played multiple games slowly ramping up the sliders/levels and couldn’t even get a competitive game until last one.
They have totally screwed this game up with the update. CPU can’t shoot from. 3, mid range, free throw it’s all terrible. And Human on Real% is better than before. This game was playing great and after two nights with this new update I don’t want to play it at all anymore.
How do you screw up a game that was so good, this bad with one update? What the hell happened?
So no. I don’t think the CPU is too good.

Re: Is it me or did the CPU get WAY better
For reasons clearly tied to online play that we aren’t allowed to understand, every modern 2K eventually ends up playing like 2K22 did. That’s Why it’s pointless do get a 2K for gameplay alone. They always screw it up.Well they did it. After playing tonight actually had me feeling like going back to Madden. Just won a game on whatever the highest level is. Hall of Fame? This isn’t even as bad a screwup as what they did with 2K22 after launch, but they messed up the potion that made this game just right. I’d never had such realistic user/cpu team stats as this game had. Now it’s a crapshoot. Some games are good, some games I can’t trust that the cpu is as aware and alive as it once was.
My last two games were getting back on track. But even then, something doesn’t feel the same when it comes to cpu, and in my last game after a decent start, both me and cpu were bricking everything in the fourth quarter. It was comical. The AI intelligence is gone. Now it’s akin to 2K21 or 2K22 intelligence.Comment

Re: Is it me or did the CPU get WAY better
I figured I would make an attempt at playing my ECF series against the Pacers and my good feelings with the game are gone. In game 2 the Pacers shot 2-21 from 3.
But it wasn't just that the AI was bricking shots left and right. It also that they played so amazingly dumb. All told I've played about 2 full seasons worth of games and these recent games the AI is just not as smart it seems. Or maybe its always been this dumb and shot good enough to mask it?
Jermaine O'Neal has started the Tragic Bronson movement. Every time he gets a defensive rebound he wants to run the fast break and sprints down the court.
Pacers have a knack for running the shot clock down and multiple times each game Eddy Curry holds the ball at the 3 pt line with an expiring clock and finally jacks up a 3.
Jamal Crawford is playing like he is gambling on games. Game 2 he shot 2 of 24. Game 1 wasn't much better.
For game 3 I gave a significant boost to the AI across the board and jacked their offensive awareness way up. That along with me playing completely disinterested allowed them to win the game.
Gilbert Arenas scores 22 points in a quarter and the Pacers do nothing. I knew ahead of time that 2k hasn't figured out how to get the AI to adjust matchups, so I was ready to watch Jamal Crawford and his horrible perimeter D get abused by Arenas while D Wade guards the weapon known as Larry Hughes and his 10 ppg on the season, but the fact that the AI on HOF difficulty makes zero adjustments until late in the third quarter and even then the best it can come up with is "bullrush him with a double team" is inexcusable.
I'm not good enough at this game to be able to beat the AI at HOF difficulty with sliders jacked in favor of the AI.Comment

Re: Is it me or did the CPU get WAY better
That last part is my issue too. In order to make the CPU shoot good now, I have to make them TOO good. Because this game works off streaks and usually when cpu goes hot, you go cold. Finding a middle ground is frustrating now. Cause either cpu bricks all night or I give them a little boost and they catch fire and cook and then the AI makes me insanely cold where my team bricks every and anything and the game is too hard. Before the patch there was an intelligence and balance. It was very competitive and realistic and cpu players wouldn’t go 2/20 from the field, yet even if they were hot I could still compete. Now it’s either they’re trash or they’re on fire. Like 2K22 and 2K21 were. It’s like all that intelligent AI they advertised and introduced for 2K23 is gone. At least when it comes to shooting and cpu offense.I figured I would make an attempt at playing my ECF series against the Pacers and my good feelings with the game are gone. Thats true, but what I meant is that I should not be able to win with the AI jacked up and on HOF. But I can, because of how poor the AI is now playing. That last part is my issue too. Re: Is it me or did the CPU get WAY better
Anybody noticed that drawing fouls has been reverted? It felt good at release where you could get ~15 fta per team with good sliders. After recent patches it seems I struggle to have user or CPU team take lots of fts even with max sliders. Feels like old gen again which is disappointing.Comment

Re: Is it me or did the CPU get WAY better
Yes it has and it finally feels like launch day for me and im finally in love with this game again on default. Please for the love of god don't change anything LOL.
To add to this im on HOF default and im finally seeing the CPU hit 3pt shots. But i do find the CPU plays better if i play better. It's almost like its scripted to stay within range.Last edited by cloakingturtle; 12-09-2022, 11:29 PM.Comment

Yep. With contact and foul sliders maxed out I almost thought there were too many fouls. Now it feels like last year.Comment

This is quite upsetting. Just what exactly happened in that last patch and why did it result in such a drastic step backward?Last edited by VDusen04; 12-10-2022, 03:15 PM.Comment

I’m still averaging about 20 attempts per game. CPU’s attempts seem to be less though.Comment

Re: Is it me or did the CPU get WAY better
It's interesting hearing Player vs CPU feedback on the AI because it sounds like it differs significantly from the CPU vs CPU stuff I'm seeing, even though I feel like the AI should play the same in either case. I did have to juice offense after the updates but overall my sliders are still slightly favored to defense, across a wide array of sliders from shot successes to defensive awareness and contest strength, and the AI has no issue shooting 40-50% every game. The big exception was 3pt of course where the slider is at 72 lol. Potentially this is because player controlled defense is just that much better I guess?Comment
