Yeah seeing the actual defense have to open his legs to defend a possible cross back to the other side without sliding is incredibleComment

New substitution engine is promising. How about conditional substitution? Like where in closing seconds, subbing in good free trhrow shooters or 3 point shooters depending in situation. Id also like to see this applies on defense as well. Where you adjust youre line up if you need defense to close out the gameComment

Re: NBA 2K24 Gameplay Enhancements Revealed with Trailer
Want to make a handful of points coming from the perspective of someone who has played A LOT of comp pro-am and has beaten or played with many 2K League players.
- Directional On-ball Stealing should have never been removed from the game. Its too important especially when guarding comp point guards that you are able to control which hand you reach with, especially when you are playing a side as a lock down defender and you know they are going to come back to that hand you're favoring. Beluba or Da Czar can correct me if I'm wrong, but I would guess Wolf probably had something to do with this coming back... They need to keep it and build on it this time.
- Branching out of regular rebounds into a put back. Fantastic change in theory, I await to see how good the execution is. One of my biggest issues when I play Center in pro am is that I cant consistently rely on put back animations because sometimes my player is fatigued or is not at the exact angle I need to be at to successfully trigger the animation. This change should remove the rng element, again, a good change in theory.
- Reducing the penalty that adrenaline boosts had on dribbling in situations involving poor defensive positioning is VERY important and needed. I'm aware those of us who are more sim oriented love the adrenaline boosts but the reality is that it was poorly implemented in its first iteration. It gave bad defenders too much leeway to be successful when it should be more a chess match much like 2K16 was. I hope that the shot penalty is not for the rest of the possession. If a player consumes their boosts within the first 5-10 seconds of a possession does that mean they cant shoot a catch and shoot shot when the ball finds its way back to them late in the clock ?
- Regarding Takeovers, I have some concerns about this new system already that perhaps Beluba can clear up. Are these takeovers limited by the build choice ? If every build is able to have access to the same takeovers that will break the game... I dont want a center grabbing 10 rebounds then popping Limitless Range for a +12 3 ball... Previous 2Ks would give you more progress towards your takeover bar if you did something corresponding to that specific category, IE if you hit a bunch of threes that built sharpshooter takeovers faster than getting assists or steals. Is every event category going to have an equal impact on takeover bar progress now?
I think these announced changes can give this upcoming NBA 2K the potential to be better from a game play perspective than every version since 16 but we will have to see.
As far as whether or not the game will be better than 16 as a whole remains to be seen. Im really hoping that MyPlayer builds dont cost over $100 dollars this year... Majority of the player base for NBA 2K is lower to middle class income and tends to lean more towards minorities, its not fair to the players to charge so much for these builds especially with all the economic issues the last 5 years... People have less money to spent...
Im not naive though, Im aware of the business pitfalls... Earnings calls exist, share holders exist, and they can often override the better angels or ideas of the developers... I just hope someone at Take Two puts their foot down and puts an end to this lunacy regarding MyPlayer build costs. Those of us who have been on board since the beginning still remember back in the day when skill points were the currency and when VC was first implemented, we predicted this would happen...

ProPlay technology looks pretty radical. I honestly think those little animations they mentioned (inbounds passes as an example) are going to have a much bigger effect on immersion than some might think. I think using this tech on all the minutiae just as well as the signature moves is going to push us was closer to that realm of people walking into the room and mistaking 2K for a real game.
Also pretty optimistic about the substitution improvements. I wonder if that's been a big part of the struggle with keeping my human vs. CPU games competitive. In hindsight, it probably really does often come down to the CPU going to their bench and hitting offensive lulls. This could be a pretty promising turn of events.

That might be a little too close to a real life Dennis Rodman celebration for it to be motion cap (motion cap often had a "pretty close to the real thing but not quite" feel). I'd say that's a good omen for classics inclusion. Then it'd just be a matter of whether 2K continues to flesh out classic player individualization.
GIFs have always had that effect for me and I've always loved it. I think the quality downgrade helps blur the line just enough to make us squint and think, "Ehhhhh, that could be real life if I didn't know any better." Had that same feeling when I saw gif of Dwyane Wade in the lead up to NBA 2K5.
I love the concept of this, but I’m still skeptical about how its implemented. It looks like a canned animation, the way the defender is moving and switching stances on the KD and Steph ProPlay clips.
Would be nice to see these plays happening on screen and actual gameplay. How free are we to branch out of these animations? What happens if I try this KD move but instead decide to cross over one more time and drive, or cross the other way and shoot ? How will these animations blend together?
Because what they showed is basically a Canned animation of something going on exactly how the real life clip. In videogames that’s now how stuff play outLast edited by VDusen04; 08-15-2023, 03:45 PM.Comment

nitpick: seems like we won't get an accurate representation of Kobe during the mid to late 2000s, he didn't get his arm tat expanded on until 2013. Small to most but since we are getting mamba moments, just wish it could be visually accurate.
on a positive note: trailer looks good, really like the movements, feels good to be reading courtside reports again.. we are getting close.
Edit: I like that defense responsiveness has been touched on, one of my biggest letdowns in 23. Interested in testing out the new freelance options. Finally glad substitutions have been updated as wellComment

Re: NBA 2K24 Gameplay Enhancements Revealed with Trailer
So going back to look at this for the 50th time lol, in the real life footage, it's the Suns vs Kings. It's the same in game footage. The only difference is who is guarding Durant. In the real life footage it's #30, in the game footage it's Harrison Barnes. But, in both, the defender reacts the exact same. So, I'm wondering if the defender in the game reacts to the signature moves/shots based on the footage captured from real games...at least when it's CPU v. CPU?
I would think that if a User is controlling the defender in that instance it would be based on his/her controller input? Either way it still looks insane to me."Dunks are tough, but when a 35 footer come rainin out the sky...it'll wire you up"Comment

Just to kind of back up my speculation on 2k23 being a "beta" for this, look at these and tell me you don't see it.

Doesn’t that look like the exact player model from 23? What’s different with Tatum that I’m not seeing?Comment

Were the 37 last year not assigned?
You couldn’t even assign movement styles to your MyPlayer last year…

Re: NBA 2K24 Gameplay Enhancements Revealed with Trailer
I believe Signature moves were teased in NBA 2K23 cause alot of stars in MyEras did some REALLY close to life movements.. Dennis Rodman to Jordan. There is actually a guy on Twitter that made a compilation video of using signature movements from MJ, LBJ and Magic Johnson.
If anyone can find it, he literally was in the Rec doing exact game movement of those players. From foot movement to even passing.. it was errily similar.
Now with this? Ah man its going to even better.Comment
