Re: NBA 2K24 Introduces New Updates to MyNBA

    This is a bit.. ugh.

I loved what they did implementing MyNBA Eras last year, yes! Something for us older heads and history buffs. You youngins don't care? Its okay, but that was soo much work and I appreciate them totally for it.

Confirmed: We DO have new courts, Ala Utah Jazz 90s court has been officially added in via YoStax video.

The thing I want to hear is little things. Tell me about the LeBron Era presentation, will it have different overlays like other Eras? What can we expect different than just jumping into the 2011 by regular?

Have the bugs from Court creation been fixed? NBA Final celebration ion older Eras tuned? Can we get the NBA Finals logos on jerseys in the 90s? These are things I think most that enjoy the Eras would like to hear about.

NBA.com and 2K Times is great.. also the aging, yes! But is Historical changes updated? Which courts were added?

Looking to hear more though guys! Chime on in Beluba, Czar, someone that can talk more about these under the hood features of MyNBA because, we would like to hear more

All Star uniforms? Can we update via 2kShare?

An interesting path in the LeBron era would be to fulfill his attempt at recruiting Steve Nash, lol.

Imo it should be the “LeBron and Steph” era. Steph has just as many rings, all of them (in the decade) against LeBron, and did it on one dynasty he helmed which ruled the 2010’s. Not to mention Steph completely changed how the game is played during that era. So you can have a truly educational era progression where as Steph rises you also see the game change from slow and more physical to fast, three point spacing fests. But I guess “will LeBron switch teams 3 times or finish the decade on the Heat?!” requires less coding.
No, LeBron era for sure. No question about it

Jay, thanks for the lookout there. I didn't realize there was a companion video. Just watched and here was a key line:

^^^^That is very notable to me and is more aligned with what I hoped to see out of 2K's MyEra improvements. I didn't want them to reinvent the wheel, but I was just hoping they'd still have people out there refining and adding on to an already amazing mode. Now I'm cautiously optimistic and curious to see which courts were added and whether there's any other minor rules that made the cut.

Adding '90s Delta Center is a pretty good omen, since it's kind of a middle-of-the-road court, not particularly iconic but also not altogether obscure. It could suggest they might have tried to flesh out the home courts for each Era's starting year. Still not holding my breath for the original teal Pistons floor, since that was mid-Era, but maybe Seattle Center's court could make the cut, and maybe even the Silverdome floor for the '84 Pistons.

If that's closer to the bigger picture that we're getting: the auto-aging, news page, new era, and aesthetic and rule updates/improvements, then I'm all in.

NGL I gave up on Eras mode because of the contract bug and then the draft classes having fake players in the 1st round who didn't match the look of the era. I think they fixed some of that later but I just never felt like going back to it.

just a streamlined experience for folks who don’t dive into details as deeply. This year seems to be all about accessibility.

            The more options the better.

I don’t think it’s as certain as your reaction makes it seem. Of course it won’t be as distinct of a mode (in character) as MyCareer is from MyNBA, and on the backend everything will obviously work the same, but it isn’t clear yet if the MyNBA Lite menu item just leads to a normal MyNBA save with a bunch of stuff initially set to Automatic (i.e., indistinguishable from a MyNBA save where the user made all those setup choices manually) or if the hand-holding continues past setup, with simplified menus and other stuff to streamline the experience to the degree that MyNBA and MyNBA Lite are literally segregated into distinct modes (i.e., a la MyLeague vs. single-season mode on old-gen). The latter is what I feel is unnecessary.

We’ll see what it actually ends up being. I hope it’s merely a setup wizard, and it’s simply being oversold for lack of better things to hype (besides retro-style news reports and NBA.com). If it’s its own mode I wonder how it will manage to stay coherent, since we know that user intervention is needed to keep any franchise mode from breaking after a few seasons.

Exactly why I'm not too bummed about the main article. I mostly am hoping for polish and polish isn't the type of thing you hype up generally. Though I was hoping for a little mention of "more era specific stat overlays"

I’m worried about that too. I barely played the modern era last year because the classes were so bad. The prospects aren’t fun to use and look awful. Guys come into the league tatted up like Chris Andersen and never have facial features that match.

Seriously, apparently there must be an alternate reality where black dudes having white emo hair is all the rage

I'm not sure how someone could have game tested 2k22 and 2k23 MyNBA mode, chosen generate draft class in the offseason and not have seen any issues with the results...

I started a Magic/Bird era MyNBA earlier this year and salary cap and contracts weren't scaling properly 6 years in. I'm like 99% sure that got fixed but I never went back to an old era game to test it.

KD/Russ/Harden/Ibaka was a damn fun team.

Don't forget the colored contact lenses fad that's going around.

EDIT: Also, sidenote: I didn't mention it earlier because it's irrelevant to me as a solo gamer, but from my perspective it seems like the MyNBA Online stuff in this Courtside Report is genuinely not a nothing-burger, so props to 2K for those additions.

Don't forget the 7'3 all around center and the 6'7 point GOD. Generated draft been the same for the last 5 years. Even with no new features or bug fixes they can at least give us a revamped draft class. Not everyone feel like editing all the time 2k. Also what did they do to training? You used to could train specific attributes.

On the subject of draft classes I'd prefer 2K handcraft a few dozen classes. The classes could have different strengths and weaknesses but at least the players could look and feel the part. Not only that, but we could have commentary and background stories. Players could come in the leaguebwith nicknames and a story. Madden did this before and it added so much personality to the draft and franchise.
