I don't know, last time we let 2K try something like that on MyGM, we got "The Creek Freak"

This would be a good idea. Anything would be a good idea compared to what we had the last 4 years. Hopefully they did something to it. They haven't done anything in 4 years so I'm not optimistic. I'm talking about Modern era. Era guys don't like when people say 2k done nothing for Mynba in years.

It's just crazy how they won't update draft classes. Madden even does it. It's literally the same exact classes every year.

They mixed up all the nationalities in 2k23 as well, so you'd have "Sergei Tsakov" from Nigeria, "Ron Jones" from Serbia and "Wei Jiang", an African American out of Seton Hall, in every class.

The algorithm for how they generate appearance for simulated draft classes is awful though. It doesn't seem to link facial features to nationality/culture and for some reason they don't use any of the modern hairstyles that are now in the game. So you just end up with a league full of weird-looking freaks with Doug McDermott's haircut if you don't heavily edit (which you can at least do, tbf).

Four things I really hope would have been fixed by now (but am not holding out any hope):

        1) The inability to sign rookies to extensions in the off-season before the final season of their rookie deal. This means you have to wait for them to enter restricted free agency before you can sign them to an extension. It also means the CPU often doesn't sign their players at the end of their rookie deals, even the really high picks.

        2) CPU's management of the cap and contract extensions in general. You get a few seasons in and everyone is just changing teams on one year deals at a time (often straight after their rookie deal). It's just immersion-killing.

        3) The CPU not signing ANY second round picks. I know you can get around this by taking control of every team directly after each draft, but why does this STILL happen?!

        4) The user not being able to initiate draft night trades using players that have just been picked, as is very common in real life. The CPU for some reason can include these players in trades though, so if you want to try and trade for a guy who's been selected before your pick, you have to put something in the trade finder and hope the team that drafted said player responds and includes them in a trade proposal.

What do you mean by this? Magic/Bird starts with a year the Sixers swept the Lakers, so neither is starting with a year they won. Boston beats LA in '84, so Magic wouldn't have that one either. The Kobe era begins with LA being the reigning champs, but is at the start of a season SA bounces LA in the 2nd round, and is followed by a 7 year period until he wins his next one. Only Jordan starts as reigning champ and ends as champ in their era. Bird and Jordan win the season you start on, and Kobe and Jordan come in as reigning champs. LeBron would just be joining Magic as not doing either, and losing in the Finals of the start season. Kobe would be the only one not to make the finals in the first season.

I love the eras additions but I can understand being upset about the draft classes. It's been a few years now but I've pretty much stopped advancing past the first season myself because of the issues.

I've been having a lot of fun just setting up seasons of dream teams of real current/historic players and playing around, I've actually had a blast doing that but it is pretty disappointing the draft classes haven't been improved on.

In a way it feels like 2k basically told us the hell with Modern day era draft classes when you can play in older eras with better draft classes you already know!

Please, PLEASE have removed the connection between trust and being able to call plays. Right now if you have staff/player trust enabled the game will lock you out of coaching settings like play calling and substitutions entirely if you don’t have high trust with your coach which takes a TON of time and work. Even if you disable “relationships lock menus” it still won’t let you do any in game play calling.

But if you disable trust it removes your ability to be fired or have any pressure from your owner. This is dumb. Turning off “relationships lock menus” should allow you to be able to playcall in game. 2k24 needs to fix this, I’m surprised I don’t see more MyNBA nerds like me annoyed by this.

This is selfish thinking on my part I know, but I’m actually super glad there are no revolutionary advancements in MyNBA for 2K24. Makes it that much easier to skip this game and continue enjoying 2K23

Same. Selfishly so far I’m not getting 2K24. Because if I do I have to make a months long investment to create my all time superleague roster which I use in modern MyNBA mode.

Graphics are similar on both games so that’s not enough. MyNBA is seemingly similar especially in modern mode (I’d love to use eras but the presentation is too unfinished compared to modern mode so I just put all those classic players jumbled with some modern players on their respective teams in modern mode. It also makes stuff like draft classes and attributes progression AI trading logic irrelevant which is good).

2K23 is just so good it’s hard to top and I have all the sliders and tricks to have it playing REAL good. 2K24 gameplay would have to be unreal to force me to switch. And even then, we know all the stressful nerfs that put up back on the tuning drawing board will occur as always.

Proplay is great but it doesn’t affect classic players so isn’t really applicable to me enough to force a switch.

Kobe centric updates will be cool but I like Jordan even more so his centric atmosphere on 23 is even more valuable to me. Also I would assume 2K24 will lose the finals patches on the 93-98 Bulls jerseys if you make finals in modern mode and also those epic Bulls warmups if you use 93-98 jerseys in modern mode, and the 00’s lakers jerseys will now get that treatment. But it would be awesome if they kept the Bulls with that stuff in 2K24 too.

If lots of classic players get expanded sigs that can twist my arm. If Jordan gets more or updated sigs that can inspire me to maybe switch. But he’s so good and accurate in 2K23 not sure what more they can do.

I haven't looked at the hype for this (that link is blocked on my work computer) but thanks to MyEras last year it's been my favorite NBA game ever. Although it's slightly tempered since the file size is so huge that it makes it hard to stay installed on my XBox S.

One thing I'd love to see is the ability to skip the annoying storylines in MyPlayer. I just want to play the games. Which I'd be shocked if they would actually make that change since I'm sure 2K is getting companies to pay huge dollars for advertising in that mode. So MyPlayer I played a ton less than I did in the PS3 era.

That's why all end-of-bench guys have to be as generic and bland as possible these days.

On the other hand, whatever users make on their own is on them, and folks have made some amazing Reggie Milers out there.
Yep. I've been playing NBAs since Magic vs Bird and the NBA Playoffs, or whatever the first of that series was. It's pretty surprising to me actually that it took this long. But guess that's probably because video games became so popular and such big $$$ for companies.

The one black mark with the Eras is that they stealth removed some of the more rpg-like features of myNBA, including the option to have conversations with players and staff which was the primary way to build trust.

I honestly just want them to say:
"We noticed that draft classes generated names were applied to the incorrect countries. There shouldn't be a Herbert Smith from China. That was a mistake. We fixed that"
"We noticed generated players had the incorrect hair style, eye color, and skin color matches. We went into our spreadsheet and fixed that."

I just want to know that they recognized they've sold a product with this error in it and they remedied that.
