XBox controllers work seamlessly on Windows (because Microsoft).

The part that's harder than console is that not every PC is identical, of course, so some consumer research is advisable before rushing into a purchase, but it's mostly standard computer-shopping stuff (hard drive space, RAM, graphics card, etc.) and the specs are clearly listed on Steam (see screenshot below).

(EDIT: Honestly, the simplest thing to do is to just Google "2024 best gaming pcs" and look at the articles that pop up in major publications, like PC Mag, Wired, IGN, whatever, and just buy something that's in your budget and seems be the right tier spec-wise. 2K isn't some super unique game that needs a really uniquely configured PC to run, and generally when you buy the sorts of computers you see in those articles, all of the specs are pretty well in line with each other. Like, if it has an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070, which is a tier above the recommended RTX 2070 you see in the specs below, I can almost guarantee you without even looking at the other specs that everything on that PC will be fine. It's not like major names are selling PCs with amazing graphics cards but are 1997-tier for everything else. Obviously be sure to look everything over, but the key is mostly just buying the right tier. I'd recommend as much storage as you can afford though. You can easily end up playing a game that is basically modded everything, which takes up a lot of space, and it's nice to not have to uninstall all of that when the next game comes out too. 1TB is good, 2TB is better.)

All that said, it can become way messier and more complicated, but that's only if—as you get more comfortable—you begin complicating your PC and mod setup in order to achieve some sort of goal you have. In that case, you're doing so because your understanding is growing, which is making you realize new ways you can improve your experience. Nobody starts from there, and plenty of people never stray very far from "Open Steam, turn on 2K, and play"... just with some mods dropped in their "Mods" folder that makes the game look and feel more polished.

150 GB is so big especially after downloading EA CFB 25 that sits at 32 GB lol.

It's because 2K hardly deletes any unique assets. Like, I have no idea if Shelden Williams is still in the game (like on a historic team or draft class), but I guarantee that every bit of commentary they recorded for him is still there, as is his cyberface. There's even Barkley commentary:

      <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Qhsh2GzoINs?si=xBH4u91MsKxaWnmT" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Kind of a good thing for modding, to be honest, since we can unlock/use all that stuff, but it does make it pretty bloated (pointlessly bloated as far as console is concerned).

yeah for some reason their court colors just get worse and worse, I imagine one day they will go back to fixing it and will call it a new feature

In the gameplay clips that some YouTubers are just now dropping, the game looks surprisingly good. Like I’m kinda shocked at it, I’d say go on YouTube now and compare to some of the newer videos. Point could still be valid but the game definitely looks better than 24.

I will say, objectively 25 looks better than 24. I’d argue, way better.

I mean, NBA Live 95 probably looks better than 2K24 as well lol.

Obvious hyperbole, but 2K24 is probably the ugliest video game I’ve seen in a long time, period. 25 looking much better than it, but still looking considerably worse than 2K23 at least in the screen grabs I posted, says a lot.

I don’t follow any of those guys, can you link one? I’d be happy to compare.

I think this has been mentioned a million times, but folks act like that can't comprehend that point.

As much as I would love ray tracing or the level of lighting that previous gen 2K had, it would come at the cost of a smooth frame rate and the game being jittery again. No thanks.

Hopefully the lighting/graphics obsessed folks can move over to PC where you aren't constrained by 'underpowered' console gaming architecture.

Just took these off some live vids. The 2K23 pics aren’t even from HD videos I believe.

                    25 is the top pics.

Re: Graphics comparison: 2K23 vs 2K25

I’ve been playing 2K on consoles since 2K5, and briefly made the jump to PC for 2K13, but after my OCD and frustration with the visual aspects of the game got the best of me, I jumped back on the PC for 2K24.

Despite it being last gen, the modded cyberfaces, body types, accessories, courts, dornas , uniforms , sneakers, etc. makes the game look stunning when used with the right reshade and it really breathed a whole new life into the game. I really salute and commend all the modders out there because what they have done for the game is nothing short of amazing.

I haven’t even touched my PS5 version in months, and I probably will ride out 2K24 on the PC until mods come out for 2K25, since I figure it will take some time for modders to figure out how to mod the next gen version.

I’m not here to knock consoles since I was a proud console gamer for almost two decades, but for those like me who are sticklers for visuals and attention to detail, PC is the way to go without a doubt.

I’m not familiar with the modding process, do we expect a long wait for mods to start rolling out for 2K25 PC? I know the coding might differ because it’s jumped to current gen from last gen, but do we expect the wait to be a couple months? I ask because I wanted to purchase a gaming PC to mod this game and others. Maybe I’ll wait till mods start rolling out and the game is on sale

Yeah I see it being a bit of a while since a hook tool will need to be created to enable mods for next gen 2K25 and then the modders will need to see how the games files differ from last gen and adjust accordingly.

In 2K’s defense, a lot of the courts simply don’t look like that IRL. Take a look at this screenshot from a Warriors’ home game last year, some of the 2K25 courts are accurate with their dulled reflections and colors:

It does look a lot better in broadcast mode than in Madden camera mode. Night and day better than 2K24.

                                Here’s it vs 2K23.
