Re: SimWorld’s 2k16 Fictional Draft Classes by CWSapp/Dreece/Blindside (XBOX One)

What up xtremedunkz. This is something people have commented about before but for years I have always felt the exact opposite. There are several reasons for this.

For starters a large chunk of these players are based off real people here in the thread. About 75 percent of those guys I would have to turn away because their last name isn't in the database.

Also, most of the work for these classes are done before I even create the draft or even get the game. To stick to the database would require me to sit in front of my xbox to make sure all of those names are there before I move forward.

And have you seen the amount of unique names in college basketball? The next wave of bball stars ALWAYS has a large amount of unique names that wouldn't be in the database otherwise. We are already 7 classes in as far as creation. That's over a thousand players already. With all due respect I feel like sticking with leave me with TOO many generic names that are constantly repeated. ESPECIALLY with the foreigners. There are not nearly enough foreign last names in the database so I would either have to just get rid of most of them or have a ton of foreign players in the league with the same last name.

For me, THAT is a true immersion killer. Of course not having some of our names in the database sucks but you have to pick your poison and in my opinion the alternative is enough to completely murder my experience so I will never do it. Thanks for the kind words though man!

If it bothers you simply edit the names. Won't lose anything apart from the unique recognition that we grow to love. Emmanuel Rodriguez is on the game I believe so happy days.

ah you're right! I didn't think you could change names in the franchise, but you can. That makes things better.

Finally got through my first draft and after a couple moves to actually get a first round pick, the knicks drafted Nikola Mazurinic. I really just took a flyer on him since I hadn't been looking for a center but when he fell into my lap I took him. In his first game (a double OT game) the guy had 32 points, 12 boards, 2 blocks and 5 assists. I know he won't maintain that level of play but I don't care! It was a hellva first game for the 19 year old. I'm really looking forward to seeing how he progresses.

He seems to be a favorite around here. I'm running with him on my Bucks and I think VenomCharger got him for the Bulls. I've got him sitting behind Joakim Noah for a couple years and then plan on him being my starting C.

I got Nikola Mazurinic at #4 and he is a beast. Also Asim Coskunian has a pretty sweet left handed stroke

Also I am controlling all teams for the draft and I used the mock draft provided in scouting report 1 as a guideline. Does scouting report 2 have a mock draft (i cant find it) and if not, what do you suggest to use for the draft? Thanks

Do we need spoiler alerts or does it not matter because the 3 versions all have different outcomes?

Spoiler alerts for overall ratings definite. Potential numerical value shouldn't be looked at EVER the letter grade is fine.

Raiderz Looks at the Nation’s Top Freshman
A new college basketball season is upon us folks and to get this started off I wanted to look at the top 5 incoming freshmen and give you my personal scouting report on them before they start off their collegiate career.

#1 Jamaree Huntingdon C Georgia Tech

When I think about centers that can do it all, I typically think, they can score with their back to the baskets, grab boards, and play good defense. Mr. Huntingdons tape showed that he could do it all, but what separates him from the rest is his ability to pass the ball. Im willing to bet he is top 10 in assist for big men when the season comes to an end. He is 7 feet tall is exceptionally fast for how tall he is. He won a state championship in highschool as his finesse moves were too much for opposing defense but will he be able to bang in the paint with the big boys is what scouts will be looking at all season. Jamaree is rumored to weigh 219 lbs, he should look to add some mass to his exceptional frame if he wants to dominate. Nevertheless he is an exciting prospect that I will keep my eyes on all season long.

                            #2 Xavier Blanchard SG 6’8 192lbs Conneticut
Ill just start off by saying this guy can do it all and that’s what makes him so exciting. I was trying to find a weakness in his game and I couldn’t really find any. He is good at scoring, grabbing boards, dishing dimes, and playing defense. His frame and skillset allows him to play the point, and SF as well. Xavier is an extremely versatile player. He just doesn’t excel in one specific thing. Some scouts may say that is his knock, but I’ll take a guy who does all the little things right as opposed to a guy who may be really good at scoring but lacks in the defensive department and vice versa.

                            #3 Jah Paine PF 6’7” 274lbs Kansas
Number three ranked freshmen and a guy I am looking forward to watching. This man is huge! Paine had schools calling for him to join them for both basketball and football. Rumor has it that Oklahoma had two scholarships set for him to be the starting PF and the starting left tackle. I personally think schools were just throwing that in they’re to try and secure his commitment but he is great athlete. He decided to go to Kansas to focus strictly on basketball and I think he made the right decision. I think his weight might be an issue at first as he was undecided where his weight should be at as he was hearing offers for both sports. If he is able to shave off some of that football weight, look for him to be terrorizing the paint with his large frame and strength without gasping for air as he goes up and down the court.

                            #4 Angelo Charles PF 6’9” 230lbs
Oklahoma wasn’t able to secure Jah Paine, but they got the next best powerfoward in Angelo Charles. While he doesn’t have nearly the size of Jah, he makes up for it in his ability to shoot and stretch the floor. He is a decent defender, but will get beat up on by bigger guys like Jah Paine. If he can get is post game up to par with his shooting game, look for him to be a lock as a lottery pick in the draft.

                            #5 Demarcus Jenkins SG 6’4 190
Demarcus is an exceptional passer who could be a starting point guard at a lot of collegiate schools. But he didn’t want to be the point guard. Mr. Jenkins has had his heart set on being a shooting guard, which is the reason why he chose Kentucky. Coach Calipari has the senior Anthony Skyler manning the PG position, who is no doubt one of the best passers in college is going to need Demarcus make his scoring ability match his already gifted passing ability in order for Kentucky’s offense to be a threat this season.

A lot of seniors get overlooked in the draft and possibly fall because professional teams love the young hot commodities but truth be told, seniors have been their done that and in an extremely strong senior class they deserve praise. In this break down I’ll break down the top 5 seniors who I believe will be on a NBA roster next season.

                            #1 PF Derrick Long 6’10 248lbs Texas

He is simply the 2nd best post defender in college right now and has been a top 5 post defender in college since his freshmen year. The Senior has put up an insane amount of blocks this season currently averaging 2.8 blocks per game and it has been fun to watch. A lot of great post defenders don’t necessarily have the blocking ability like Derrick does or vice versa. You will see prospects like that but Derrick Long has the ability to do both. The team that selects him will be getting a great post defender and great shot blocker. A lot of people have questioned his offensive game, but it has steadily risen over the past 4 years and I believe he will continue to grow to an all around power forward when he gets drafted this April. I feel like he might slip due to his lack of offense right now, but I promise you this, every team that lets him slip will regret it. He is a beast.

                            #2 SG Jacob Eugene 6’3 185lbs UCLA

Lighting Quick. Good shooter. What more can you ask for from a scoring threat like Eugene? He isn’t fundamentally sound on the defensive end but that can be coached. He makes up for it with his speed. You can catch him slipping sometimes but his recovery speed is legit. While he wont be starter ready his first season, I believe you could throw him into the fire and he will eventually figure it out off the bench. He started his collegiate career as a walk on at UCLA and clearly has figured it out especially this season as he is currently leading UCLA in points per game. He is a high energy guy, that if he gets selected to a team with a solidified SG, coming off the bench wouldn’t be a bad gig for him as his speed is real. Mark it down. When he shows out at the NBA combine, his stock will be rising rapidly.

                            #3 C Kaylan Colbert 6’11 256 Georgia

That scouting report I gave you on Derrick Long? Just copy and paste and times two for defense but subtract the offense. Kaylan Colbert will get overlooked and will slip out of the lottery because of his lack of offense, but im telling you on a playoff team he could be the difference maker. He could come off the bench all season long but if the team that drafts him goes up against a team in the playoffs that has a big man that can score from the post, watch for Kaylan Colbert to end up starting and prove his worth. He in my opinion is the best post defender in all of college basketball right now. He isn’t as good as a shot blocker as Derrick Long is "stastically" but he is pretty darn good at is. If any NBA coach can make him a offensive threat then that person would deserve coach of the year considerations. If I had to choose between him and Derrick, im obviously going Derrick, but for a team looking for a PF, that misses out on Long, Kaylan wouldn’t be a bad consolation prize.

#4 PG Calvin Whitaker 6’4 178 Ohio State

We got another quick one. No where near as fast as Jacob Eugene but man he’s quick. The athletically gifted point guard might not be as fast as Eugene but his ball handling abilities along with his quickness is a pretty good combination for the point guard position. If a team is looking for a 2nd point guard to run the offense, then look no further. His basketball iq has been questioned at times but his actual IQ has not been questioned. A 4.0 all throughout highschool and college, with acceptance letters from multiple medical schools, he can do whatever he wants if the NBA doesn’t work out. It might be a long road before he’s a starter in this league but he could be a decent back up that can handle the load when a injury occurs.

                            #5 SG Larry Shepherd 6’5” 209lbs Princeton

There is always one guy I find on YouTube making ridiculous dunks and then I turn on the tape and they aren’t that special. Larry Shepherd isn’t that otherwise he wouldn’t be on my top 5 lists. He is going to make a summer league team because some owner is going to want to make extra money off the dunks he makes to get the forums hyped about him, but then the coach will realize hey he can do a little more than just dunk and end up making the team. He is a project that is going to take some time developing before he gets playing time, but he is athletic enough to make it in this league.

                            Final Thoughts:

This is a strong senior class that will change the way GM’s think when they look back on it and realized that they made a mistake by taking the younger prospect over the senior. It doesn’t happen too often but the tale of this years tape has me strongly believing that there are some valuable senior assets to this draft class. A lot of GM’s undervalue veteran leadership and when good teams go on a slump, everyone needs to have their head straight to rise up from it and in my experience, seniors tend to do this better then freshmen and sophomores.
