Re: SimWorld’s 2k16 Fictional Draft Classes by CWSapp/Dreece/Blindside (XBOX One)

What up guys. I just wanted to give you a quick update before I post this February newsfeed because I've gotten about 10 or so messages/emails over the last three days about progress and what we are doing so let me answer some of those questions....

    1) Are you guys almost done with Dc1 yet?
No, No No lol. Although we will be completing draft classes at a faster pace this year, please remember that the game just came out. Not only are we testing ratings and tendencies out but as we stated we are also putting in heavy work towards the League. The best way to determine when the draft class is coming out is when the draft class scouting report comes out. Whenever you see that the draft class should be 48 hours or less away.

    2) When will the first draft class be done?
The actual base will be done extremely soon but once again we have to test and make sure tendencies and stuff are in order so I'm thinking in about two weeks. Correct me if I'm wrong Dreece.

    3) How long will it take you guys to finish the League this year?
Realistically, a couple of months. For those of you that think we just plugging names in, that is absolutely not the case. We have to put the info in, appearances, animations, get the ratings right, tendencies, contracts... all of that. And we are doing all of that while working on draft classes as well. After talking with the guys, we think Thanksgiving is a realistic time to start looking for the League roster.

    4) Why am I not able to pick the playstyle of potential for the player I submit?
Because people don't see the bigger picture so allowing everyone to individually determine what to do with their player would screw everything up. I don't mean to sound rude but this whole project is more than just inserting players. It is a ton of calculating to ensure that there are an adequate amount of different play styles as well as stars and role players in the league. So while I don't mind handing over a bit of control of WHO is in the league, me and the guys have to keep control of how they operate and grow within the league.

    5) When can I expect to see my player in the draft classes?
In all honesty, just about everyone that has put a player in this thread to this point will see their player in either draft class 5, 6 or 7. I am sorry that they could not have been put in to any of the earlier classes but part of ensuring that we would get out more draft classes was prepping the classes way before the game even came out. With that being said, classes 1 through 4 was pretty much etched in stone before any of us even touched the game. As time moves on, you will start to hear your player's name get mentioned in news feeds and you'll know he is getting ready to make a debut.

There were a few more questions asked that I can't think of at the moment but those were the ones asked most frequently. Hopefully this answered your question. If not, please feel free to ask again in the thread.

The Big Ten is looking awfully dangerous as we approach the end of the season

Of course the Big Ten is a conference that has been home to a wide array of big stars and marvelous teams in the past so it is to no one’s surprise that the conference has AT LEAST three teams that look like they could win the championship. The Ohio State Buckeyes have been led by a trio of very talented freshmen and a dominant sophomore (sophomore center Malachi Robinson). At 20 – 1, there aren’t many teams that aren’t scared of this young squad.
Right below the Buckeyes are the Wolverines. While the Wolverines don’t have QUITE as much talent, they seem to benefit from chemistry and the leadership of junior point guard JaMarcus Knipp. At 20 – 2, there are pushing hard to get a number one seed.
The surprise team for many however has been the University of Illinois. While Illinois has many talented players, SF Pooh Lewis and PF David White are the stars and some may argue that these two are better than any player on any of these three teams. The Illini are sitting at 19 – 3 but are getting hot. Stayed tuned to see how things play out.

February Week 2 “Big Game Watch”

Texas A&M Sophomore Center Emmanuel Rodriguez: 18 points, 12 rebounds, 1 steal, 5 blocks against Ole Miss in a 80 – 67 win
Illinois Sophomore Forward Pooh Lewis: 30 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists against Purdue in a 79 – 74 win
Kentucky Freshman Forward Rayshaud Hill: 22 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals, 3 blocks (held Missouri SF Jerrell Frizell to only 6 points) against Missouri in a 70 – 62 win

Santa Clara is going to keep beating teams up until you believe them

I don’t do pieces like this too often anymore because it is time consuming. However, when I got a call from Dreece telling me that I needed to go to Santa Clara to check out the squad I figured why not. I must admit that anytime I see West Coast Conference, I assume that it has something to do with either BYU or Gonzaga. Not this year though. Santa Clara sits at 23 – 2 only losing two games against ranked opponents when they were missing their best player. The team is at full strength now and they are absolutely abusing the West Coast Conference.

The team is led by two bruising forwards in sophomore Bryce Hasselhoff and junior Devontae Dunn. Junior guard Logan London is also a major piece of the puzzle. Hasselhoff, the best of the three, feels that the rest of the country don’t give them the respect that they deserve. “Because of our conference people act like we aren’t championship contenders. I could argue that BYU and Gonzaga are better than Northwestern and Penn State in the Big Ten”.

The team is 21 and 0 with all three of these guys in the lineup and with March approaching, I have a good feeling that they are going to get the opportunity to show exactly how they match up with the big boys.

      February 16, 2016
February Week 3 “Big Game Watch”

Sacramento State Senior Forward Quiason Lee: 48 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals against Weber State in a 86 – 69 win
      Minnesota Sophomore Forward Teddy DeMarco : 33 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block against Michigan in a 74 – 76 loss
Oklahoma State Senior Adonis Grisby: 30 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks (scored the teams final 13 points) against Oklahoma in a 77 – 69 win

      February 20, 2016
Number 2 Overall NBA Prospect announces that he will be coming back for sophomore season

New Mexico point guard Solomon Myers has played way beyond expectations and literally catapulted himself to the top of most big boards. So it’s a bit surprising that the freshman star has already decided that he would be returning for his sophomore season. “When it comes down to it, I want to be here with my sister. It’s that simple. Nothing deeper than that. Me, her and the family will reevaluate next year but as far as this season, I will definitely be coming back”.

With freshman Metrick McGee stating that he would be returning as well, this leaves UCLA sophomore JaDamion Deveaux as the highest rated point guard that could be available for this year’s draft.

      February 23, 2016
February Week 4 “Big Game Watch”

Oregon State Senior Forward Tre’von Burgess: 18 points, 17 rebounds against Oregon in a 64 – 60 win against Oregon
Mercer Junior Guard Jadar Choice: 41 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals against Western Carolina in a 81 – 59 loss
Wake Forest Freshman Guard Ashley Walker: 21 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, 7 steals against Duke in a 63 – 61 win

      February 2017 SimWorld Talk

AdamJones: So now Solomon Myers isn’t declaring and Emmanuel Rodriguez probably isn’t declaring either so that leaves us with this whole question of who should be the number one pick. The answer? I don’t really know. This is one of those years where you may not necessarily want the number one pick. At the moment I’m leaning towards Georgetown shooting guard Che King as he seems to be looking like the favorite to win player of the year. The thing about King that I like is that even if he doesn’t have the highest of potential, you know he can step in to a NBA lineup right now and do some damage on the offensive end. I have LSU Sophomore SF Kiante Oakman right below him for the exact same reason but just on the other side of the ball. He is the one guy in the draft that could potentially be the best defensive player on a team as a rookie. At number three I’m going with the guy that Yellz seems to hate in Tennessee’s sophomore PF Laqua Palmer.

SeanBarkley: I was on the Kiante Oakman train but I just don’t think you can draft this guy at number one until he learns how to do more on offense than just camp away the three point line and wait for the kickout. Laqua Palmer is getting that love because of what he has the potential to become but I just haven’t seen enough consistency out of him to warrant a number one pick. I have to say that Rayshaud Hill, the small forward out of Kentucky is the guy that you have to go with at the number one spot simply because of his ability to excel on both ends of the court. Although Kiante Oakman and Che King are more skilled players now, Hill has the potential to be a star on both sides of the ball and you don’t pass that up.

Surg2k: I don’t want to talk about number one picks right now and instead want to look at some guys that I think are going to get drafted later in the first round. The center for Ohio State Malachi Robinson is almost certainly going to be leaving after this year and I think that although he has some improvements that he needs to make with his game, he could be a BIG time player. An easy pick if he declares and falls as low as 10 or lower. I actually have to disagree with CWSapp when it comes to the high scoring shooting guard out of Mercer Jadar Choice. This is not a Steph Curry type situation here. I truly think that Choice’s lack of competition is making him look a lot better than he really is. I honestly don’t think I would draft him in the first round at all but that’s just me. In my opinion, the steal of the draft will more than likely be the kid that is leading the nation in assists right now… Nevada senior point guard Tavaris Leggett. This kid is as mature as it comes and he plays with the intention of getting everyone else involved.

Great write up!! Really excited to see where things go from here with these players! So I have a question as someone new to you guys. Do you do stories for every player in the draft or just the "top stars"?

No we don't do stories for every player in the draft. And we do more than the stars. International players get some love as do small school players.

@Sapp 2 weeks from me "receiving" the prepped DC1 we can talk release dates. As usual with a new game there is under the hood elements that need to be tested to ensure that the transition from rookies to vets is seemless.

Right now certain tendencies reset and its extremely pissing me off right now. Truth be told I don't want to release until they fix this.

Hey Sapp and Dreece, first off thanks for all of this it sounds amazing. I haven't used your classes in the past but it sounds awesome and I have some questions.

Are the Newsfeeds that Sapp is posting detailing the players in the upcoming Draft Class One?

So these should be used as the draft classes after staring a MyLeague with the base 2k roster?

And here's a PF and SF

                Name: Augustus Brennan
                Position: PF
                School/Country: USA, UC Santa Barbara
                Height: 6' 10"
                Weight: 245
Appearance: White guy, short dark blonde hair, left arm sleeve

                Name: Jim Barnett
                Position: SF
                School/Country: USA, Gonzaga
                Height: 6' 7"
                Weight: 225

Thanks for the following my man we appreciate it a lot. The news feeds Sapp post are general happenings around the NCAA for that month. Players that are highlighted are indeed players from our classes...but you won't know who has declared until after the NCAA tournament

@Sapp remember a few years back Dre Redd burst onto the scene and stayed to his Junior year. Lol people was pissed

Just part of our process and we love making it as realistic as possible.

And roster choice is your preference...but the Sim World NBA roster and The LEAGUE fictional draft class roster are designed under the same umbrella so those would be your best bet for consistency of play.

When they are released of course

Last year and now this year I always read this thread and lament about having a PS4 and not an XBOX One so that I could take advantage of these great draft classes. I remember using these classes a few years back (in the ps3 days) and Sapp is just brilliant.

Thanks so much guys, even though I don't have the pleasure of being able to make use of your draft classes.

Sup guys not sure if you remember me used to write stories/scouting in the early years of this and just remember it this year when I started my franchise so real hype to see it up again. Not sure if you're reusing old players from before but I'd love to see Adam Cameron again man I always killed with him. The other is a new dominant center from gtown; I usually make in my own leagues but feel free to use him however.

Adam Cameron has made a comeback you'll be pleased to know. He is the star PG for the Golden State Warriors, also picked up the MVP award last year.

Hey Sapp/Dreece, thanks again for your contributions. I'm going to start a chise with some buds once your draft classes are released. No rush I know you're working hard to get them out, but I have a question, after you release the first class how long is it typically until you release the 2nd?

Just a few days? We'll adjust how fast we progress through our first season based on when DC2 will come out which is why I ask. Thanks again!
