Hey buddy, I agree these rosters are awesome to play with! And give a different vibe to the real NBA. I’ll give you my perspective.
1. I control only one team, but I play with trade approval on. The reason for this is because I don’t know enough about the players to be able to manage the whole league. Like when using NBA rosters, I know the stars, their history, their play style, etc, so I can tell when things don’t make sense like trading a star for what appears to be younger players but really they are scrubs. With this roster you have no idea, and hence it’s a bit harder to learn everything. Over the course of a season though, you do pick up who is who and what they do well, but I tend to pick one team to learn about the league because it gives me focus.
2. I play with the rosters as is. It’s almost like a fantasy draft anyway because it’s so different to real life. I don’t know how Leo built each team or the inspiration used for each team, but you can see the inspiration behind some players and the types of rosters that have been built, like a shaq-Kobe type team, a super shooter like durant, a Yao Ming type big man, etc.
Coach 2K has some awesome videos which highlight the different players in the league and their play style. He uses a fictional league in the truest sense, with all his teams being fictional too. I personally play with fictional players but with real teams. That means you get the odd color commentary stuff referring to real life, but it’s not too bad.
The only thing that I will note that is an oddity is some of the contract glitches, I think Leo might look at them in a roster edit, and they are no big deal (for the most part) and only affect the first couple of years anyway.
