Re: NBA X’s & O’s
To be honest this thread is more me having conversations with myself as opposed to 10 years ago lol. So, I’m not on here as much and just doing my thing. I’ll post it all when I finish, but especially with classic teams it’s a long haul. So many teams to do. I need to get a team priority list of playbooks to do per year. If anyone has a want in a specific year lmk… I figure this game and mode I will be using for years to come so I want to make sure I do it right so I don’t have to do it again. So I will take my time with the classic era playbooks.Basketball Playbooks

Re: NBA X’s & O’s
Ya no problem. The 80’s Showtime Lakers were my team growing up and that’s an easy 1 for me and I probably already have a list of plays that could fill that teams playbook in my notes already. The great part about that team is you can use for that team the whole decade in 80’s as their roster and personnel was similar throughout the 80’s, so I won’t have to change like the Sonics & Rockets examples I gave. Iirc they had about 15-20 plays already that can stick in their playbook. That will most likely be 1 of the 1st classic playbooks I’ll do.Basketball Playbooks

Re: NBA X’s & O’s
But how to get the cpu to run all the plays?
When i set "run plays" to auto my team runs the same handful of plays over and over again (and the opposition cpu team as well). And this although i have the "run plays" slider in the coach menu very high.
Does the cpu only run freelance plays without going in the playbook?Comment

I’m also seeing a ton of variety with cpu using whole playbook. 50-60 plays per team. Do you guys have ace on or off? I’ve tried both and both were the same. Also, I’ve tried it with cpu calling my playcalling and had show all play calls to see what they were calling and still a wide variety.
What I’m not sure about is I have dynamic playcalling on and repeat plays with success. I have seen a few plays used in succession a few times but not very often.
So ya idk & haven’t experienced that at all.Basketball Playbooks

Interesting you guys are having issues with this. I am not at all. What system? I’m on Xbox x. I see no series and only get freelance maybe 1 out of every 4-5 possessions. This is the 1 year I have actually dropped play call to 80 to see more freelance.

Re: NBA X’s & O’s
I'm on current gen PC. But it wasn't like this last year.
Now it could be because the season hasn't started yet but I doubt it. Seems like it's a bug.
Haven't really tested it throughly yet but just played a MyLeague game against the Grizzles (cpu) and they ran the same crap over and over.
Even when I changed their playbook and team profile.

We’ve also got to take into consideration the “touches” tendency of your players. That tendency impacts the plays the CPU is going to call. If you have a player with a 95 touches tendency rating, with 3pt plays as his #1 play type with only 3 or 4 3pt plays in your playbook…you’re definitely gonna see the CPU call those plays more with or without ACE on.
This has always been the case with auto playcalling. That’s why I either call plays manually or in franchise mode turn everyone’s touch tendencies down. Back on 2k11 I figured that if I turned it down to 20 then each player would have a 1 in 5 chance of the cpu calling a play for them. NOTE: This does not mean role players would take the same amount of shots as stars as shot attempts also feed off of shot tendency ratings. I got pretty good results in game. Sim stats could have been better so I started looking at actual usage% advanced stat and started using those. So if Kobe had a 28% usage rate then I changed his rating to 28 and use the same logic to edit other players. Even better results in game and sim-wise.Last edited by taildog; 10-05-2022, 12:12 PM.Comment
