    SLIDER UPDATE!

I've posted part of my major update, focusing on movement, fouls, and rebounds!

I'm headed off to work but I needed to get SOMETHING posted before hand! The rest of the update should be coming tonight after I can tweak a few things after work.

    Enjoy!

Cool. Will edit my sliders in game once the full set is posted.

I had an amazing set of sliders I used for 2k13/14ish that were held in high regard and I know how hard it can be to get them right. No time for that anymore personally. I just wanna play. lol. So thanks.

Maybe it really is changing the sliders is affecting the difficulty setting? Which in turn makes the AI dumber and not take advantage of defensive holes?

Lowering defensive awareness won't hurt too much except for defenders knowing when a pick is coming before it happens and how quickly they respond to passes.

Raising offensive awareness actually makes the CPU offense run WORSE as they take a ton of contested shots and tend to force things on offense.

I think it might just be an issue with how help defense works this year. It's great this year and has led to some really great and realistic gameplay, but I've been burned by my PF sliding WAY out of position before the offense has even begun their play. It leads to wide open looks from 3 which can be lethal if the other team has a competent stretch 4.

Yup that's a legacy issue that supposedly had been fixed (according to 2Ks AI Blog last month) but apparently it was not. Only way to avoid this is to manually set your defensive settings so that off ball defenders play tight on the specific players they are leaving open.

But even that doesn't always work [emoji19]

Yeah, I've adjusted defensive settings and still gotten burned on it. It's really infuriating, but if all we can do is wait for a patch then we just have to live with it. I'm psyched to get home from work and try out your updated sliders man, nice work as always.

I hope they fix it (the videos posted in their AI blog show proper rotations and not the over rotation we get) but I'm not expecting them to unfortunately.

The update I posted fixes the player/ball movement, rebounding, and fouls (for the most part).

My tendency and defense tweaks that I can HOPEFULLY get finished up tonight will be the REAL update.

I honestly think this may be it. Which would suck/need fixing. Because the last two games I played on default superstar settings I got beat pretty handily and the AI was playing extremely well offensively.

Then after I edited sliders on my own because I wanted to decrease acceleration and speed some and up the passing speed, the AI seems way dumber.

I'm going to boost the offensive awareness of CPU up to 100 with custom sliders just to see what happens, to see if its simply just the sliders that differentiate superstar/HOF from the other levels or if there is some "inherent" AI programming separate from the sliders on those levels.

How many games did you play after tweaking the sliders? There's a certain amount of variety inherent in the game such that 1 game the CPU might be a juggernaut and the next game they can't get anything going. Make sure to play multiple games before jumping to conclusions, TRUST ME.

And the Offensive Awareness slider won't fix those problems. Contrary to popular belief this is not a one-slider-fixes-all setting, and high offensive awareness can actually make the CPU play worse. They'll be "aware" that they have an inch of space and think they're wide open, whereas the defender is right there and can react quickly enough to where it's a TERRIBLE shot to take. This can lead to rushed offensive sets and just flat-out ugly gameplay from the CPU.

Making the AI play smart, effective basketball while maintaining unpredictability and making them capitalize on your mistakes is a difficult task, and it's why I haven't posted my full update yet. Once I have this fixed, you'll see an update (hopefully tonight!)

Re: NBA 2K18 "The Eccentric Edition" - Realistic Slider Set

So, I went to update my sliders in game. Accidentally though, I only changed the things highlighted in red as per your post. So basically, I changed the difficulty to Hall of Fame and then ONLY changed the other settings highlighted (except for game speed which I'm choosing to leave at 50). All other settings were left at HoF default.

                    Kings (user) vs. Bucks

                    112-119
                    FG: 48%-48%
                    3PT: 42%-41%
                    FT: 29attempts-26 attempts
                    REB: 58-46
                    STL:5-15
                    TO: 19-8

As you might expect, turnovers did me in. Otherwise very fairly matched game. Although the Bucks in my opinion have the superior team. I realized after the game that changing it to Hall of Fame would reset hte other sliders, oh well. With that being said, the CPU was aggressive in getting to the rim on fast breaks and not just settling for the mid range jumper. Overall, more aggressive in putting the ball on the floor and not chucking up bad shots.

Willie Cauley Stein still pulled down 20 boards. Maybe he's just a freak in this game. lol.

I now have put the most up to date sliders back in and will update.

Currently 11-12 as the Kings in mygm mode. We traded for Enes Kanter a games back. The Thunder apparently weren't going to wait to let him decline his player option this offseason. :o

Interesting! I'll have to make a note in the OP when I get home telling people to update ALL sliders after changing the difficulty (really wish 2K just left the sliders and difficulty separate from each other).

The switch to HOF really did the trick for me. I was GS playing against ATL. CPU tempo picked up and I had a higher scoring game as a result. I was also weary about putting Lat. quickness to 0 but it seemed pretty solid. What's the reasoning behind that?

I even managed 21 turnovers which was great. Double teams off and pick and rolls got Steph stripped a few times just like in real life. You all should really think about lowering pass acc. I have the CPU's at 20. You see too many perfect passes anywhere around default. I initially had mine at 30 but misplaced passes were getting unrealistic so I upped it to 38 now. Will try another game with it there, but things are looking really promising right now!

Haha sorry actually hadn't used your sliders yet, was looking around for some was gonna give yours a shot, just happened to see that guy's comment and thought the same that the difficulty level maybe programmed into the level (HOF/SS) etc. and that changing it to custom may make it default to normal or something.

But in retrospect just played a game, against cpu with their offensive awareness at 100 and blew them out so yeah you're right def doesn't have a material affect.

I also played on default HOF though and blew them out. Both games were against warriors with me using bucks(without jabari at that), so guess I just got a lot better at the game lol. Don't think theres any difference in the AI from custom or HOF/SS.

Lateral Quickness is at 0 because it essentially controls the feel of players on defense. At anything above 20, players just kind of feel "floaty" in movement and you kind of glide around with 0 weight. At 0 you can really feel the weight and foot-planting when moving around on defense, and it also makes you pay for guessing wrong or over-pursuing in one direction while on defense.

My current test settings for Pass Accuracy are USER 40, CPU 30. Might try lowering the CPU pass accuracy even more, but at 30 I saw CPU-controller CP3 drive to the rim and try to whip a pass to the opposite corner that was just off target and went out of bounds. I feel any lower and that would happen all the time.

Yea there's a lot more that goes into making the game difficult than just Awareness and difficulty setting. If it were that easy, I wouldn't need to make a slider set

With the sliders now put in correctly (lol), just finished a game vs. the Cavs.

I lost 102-113 as the Kings.

Shot 42% from the field compared to their 46%.

Without going into too much detail, the game felt "right". I got beat by double digits as I should have but Lebron and Thomas did work, both scored 30+. Aggressive in getting to the rim, fast breaks included. Lebron even tried to bring the house down on one, but failed. lol.

Still had 3 players in double digit rebounds. My frontcourt just eats up boards. Positions 1-3 get almost none.

                              I like the updated sliders!

That's what I like to hear! I'm not sure if I can do much more to affect the DISTRIBUTION of rebounds, I may only be able to control the balance between USER and CPU in that respect.

                                I'll keep trying though!
