Hey Eccentric. Would you recommend the game post patch? Apologies if this the wrong thread. It seems like you and I are in agreement on what we hope the game can be. I’m just looking for realistic gameplay and stats. Single player. Offline is what I’m looking for. I couldn’t care less about the other stuff.(The City or The Park or The Latrine or whatever it’s called now). Thanks in advance.

Re: NBA 2K25 "The Eccentric Edition" - Realistic Slider Set
I’ve been hesitant to buy the game the last few years but I got bitten by the NBA bug hard this year. I’ve just heard a lot about the changes in gameplay post patch being not so good. At least in my case. Thanks for the reply. My credit card is trembling in my pocket as we speakComment

Re: NBA 2K25 "The Eccentric Edition" - Realistic Slider Set
Should I be able to get by defenders with the likes of Cade Cunningham with these sliders? I tried watching the recommended dribbling videos and practicing on Freestyle but I feel like I'm not doing something correctly. None of the defenders ever seem to have any trouble locking my guys down unless I'm using someone like Steph Curry.
Also... I only seem to really make shots when it's green. I'm consistently shooting 36% and below, generally because (I'm guessing) I'm not breakind down the defenses at all.
I love the fouls and I love the movement, how it's possible to run a screen and pass to the open guy when the defense rotates... but it feels like they recover too quickly and my guys aren't getting wide open shots like I'd think they would.
Oh, and layups... I seem to make about 15% of my light contest layups.Last edited by torpidbeaver; 10-25-2024, 05:49 PM.Comment

Decrease to make contested jumpers easier while also making open shots harder. The slider is well named, so just think of it as how much of an effect being open or covered has on a shot. Lower values make it so open shots have less of a boost, and contested shots have less of a nerf.

With these sliders, you should pretty much be able to get by all but the most elite on-ball defenders with regularity, so long as you’re using a good dribbler and have a decent grasp of the new dribble engine and the reaction time necessary to take advantage when a defender over-commits in any given direction. I’ll be honest though, the last time I used the Pistons in a 2K game, Tayshaun Prince and Rip Hamilton were still running the show in Detroit [emoji28]
My main piece of advice for dribbling is to learn the specific launches that work for your players. Almost universally, you can end any breakdown/crossover/hesitation combo by flicking the right stick diagonally forward to the left or right side of your defender and THEN holding sprint. This will do an aggressive launch to that side of the player, so if you had them shifting to one direction with your dribble combo and immediately launch in the opposite direction with this diagonal RS flick, you will blow right past them or at least trigger a hip ride animation. You can also skip the dribble combo entirely and just do a crossover launch with this diagonal flick, so if you bring the ball up the court with the ball in your left hand you can just get close to the defender and flick the RS diagonally up to the right and then hold sprint.
For defenders rotating too quickly, you can simply decrease the Help Defense Strength slider until you’re happy with the close-out speed. As for layups, I would just bump up the Layup Success slider a few clicks and then test.

Absolutely. It’s not a stretch to say this is probably the best gameplay we’ve ever had, even if you think that the patch made it worse.
Probably? I haven’t tried anything besides HOF this year so I can’t accurately comment on what differences you might experience. I would recommend equalizing the physical attribute sliders (Agility, Strength, Vertical, Speed) on lower difficulties, though. The CPU won’t have the same artificial boosts they receive on HOF, so they don’t need their attributes decreased to even the playing field.

Re: NBA 2K25 "The Eccentric Edition" - Realistic Slider Set
I have both a little lower, but my sliders have other changes from Eccentric's set so its not an apples to apples comparison.
I think Layup at 50 is about right, but your experience might be different.
Its a good reminder that any published sliders here often need to be tweaked to fit your own personal style of play, skills, team used, playbook used, etc. Use the slider sets you see here as a guide for themes or concepts, then adjust for how you play and the results you want.Last edited by res2; 10-28-2024, 10:39 PM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K25 "The Eccentric Edition" - Realistic Slider Set
Guys…I’m losing it over Fast break points in simulated games. When I play the game. I get in high single to low double digits. I sim and the computer has close to 20 and I have 2. Any ideas? All the other stats are good.
P.S. I have made adjustments to the slider set so I’m sure this is something I’ve doneComment

Not sure what could be done to fix a consistent disparity between your team and the opponent in specific simulated stats. It has nothing to do with the gameplay sliders though, so no worries there. I know there are a lot of sliders you can tweak in MyNBA to adjust the sim engine, but I don’t think there’s anything that lets you boost stats solely for your team as those tweaks will effect both teams.
It might be one of those random annoyances you just have to ignore, unfortunately.Comment

Re: NBA 2K25 "The Eccentric Edition" - Realistic Slider Set
Is there anything that can be done about the CPU sorta standing around? I find that if I play good-ish defense and the computer goes through a play, it'll stand around for a good four seconds before chucking up a shot as the shot clock expires.Comment
