        Re: NBA 2k10 Wishlist

2k has finally stepped their game up with the graphics glitter that Live has always had, and they redifined what a basketball simlulation really is.

The only additions I hope they add in the future would be:

        1. Get rid of that Kellogg guy and bring back Bill Walton with his memorable quotes like ("Put it down big fella"!).

        2. Bring back the old game introductions that was used in 2k5-2k6, where the team runs into the staduim and takes shots in their sweat clothes before the game and the commentors give a pre game analysis on the the two top players that may make a difference in the game.

        3. Different crowd noises at different stadiums. I know 2k9 has improved this but it needs more work.

        4. During timeouts, have the players take a seat. Given a towel and gaterade from the towel kid.

        5. Real time practice sessions. Where you guys are free in an open gym where you can practice real plays. I know its in the single player, buts its not in the association mode.

        6. Allstar weekend!

On next gen beyond 2011 (Blu ray disc) hardware:

        1. Better physics: Real hair strands, and fur. Especially guys like steve nash, and varejo (with his puffy bouncy hair from the Cavs.) Realistic sweat.

        2. Up the polygon count on the fans (50 for far fans and 200 thousand for closer fans) and players (up to one million per player) and even the coach.

        2A. 4XAA with 16AF running up to 1080p at a steady 60fps.

        3. Real time facial emotions on all players, crew and coach. We need to see sadness, excitement, playoff and finals excitement. I want to see the coach jump up like Doc Rivers when the Celtics made game winning shots. I want to see guys like Kobe Bryant give high fives to fans like JACK NICHOLSON and spike lee. I want to see when the team is losing, I want to see the bench with towels over their heads looking sadly at the score board.

        4. More animations!

        5. During pregame/post game analysis, show a helicopter view outside and inside the stadium.

        6. Have some type of Mass effect player like interview where your words affect the outcome of your other players and fan status. For example:

Reporter: D Wade, how did you feel about this win?

You can say: My team let me down, and as always I have to clean up the trash.

Or: We all played a great game together, and I hope we continue to bring it harder next game.

        7. Atleast a 6 minute realtime finals ceremony where the players celebrate with the fans, and David stern announces the finals mvp. (have atleast 5 random celebrations.)

There are tons of more crazy ideas for this game.

          next years version should include:
          1. a transition defense slider setting,
          2. interior defense slider setting as well as regular defensive sliders.
          3. real time practices. (someone else mentioned this)
          4. on court chemistry which could be part of the real time practices. practicing plays with certain players will have certain results on the court.
in addition this will balance the fatigue/rotation substitutions. makes it more tactical. now subbing certain players in at certain times will affect on court effectiveness in running plays etc.

The midrange game needs to be tweaked so that realism is within the game. I'm tired of seeing Scrubs and Bench Warmers who have no business shooting midrange shots only a few inches from the arch hitting them with ease. I mean, Powe on the Celtics is a beast which makes no sense. I do not recall him hitting the midrange like that.

This leads into my suggestion that I had a few years running whether on this site on on 2K's. Distinguish between the midrange where it's split in two sections. That way players like Tim Duncan aren't hitting "almost tres" all the time.

Also, provide between spacing where the defens ekidn of falls a few steps behind the offense. Why is it that when I try to create space, the A.I. goes for the fake but always recovers like nothing ever happened? That's HORRIBLE!! Please fix that.

To many front rim misses on point blank shots like layups and baby hook shots from 3 inches away. I want to see misses from there but make them long , no way a 6-11 guy is going to front rim miss a shot from 3 inches away. Break away rims on dunks, like in Live, and there are not enough layups off the glass..Beeter interior Defense the hyelp defense slider in the game is broken, none of my players ever help in the paint when my man blows past me.

Full create a team mode with vintage logos like the NHL 2k series.

More secondary/primary positions like generic guard, generic forward, and point forward

Choose primary ball handler and have different positions be able to initiate different plays

On the coaching side of things i'd like to see more specific offensive philosophies and sets in the coach's profile also i'd like to be able to choose primary defense (which i think was in an older version).
As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"

                  Re: NBA 2k10 Wishlist

Really simple! I don't know why this has not been added yet:

                  1) Warm-up mode before the game. A simple 2 minute shoot around, with the option to skip it as well. Or just layup lines like NCAA 2k8, really why did this leave the basketball series?

                  2) Players wear warm-ups on the bench.

                  3) Keep the pre-game analysis, but try and make it a bit deeper. Keys to the game. (I love the Kevin harland and Craig Kellog chracters)

                  4) Finally, Please lose Craig Kellogg. He is a strictly NCAA analyst, get somebody from the NBA. Since you guys already have Kevin Harlan, get someone else from TNT. Doug Collins?

These should be fairly simple to add, and will enhance the realism tremendously!

What would do it for me would be:

                    1. At halftime, actually have someone at the desk such as Ernie Johnson. Don't just have an empty desk and an empty studio. Add something to that scene it adds to the presentation of the game.

                    2. A button where you would be able to communicate on defense. Such as, when you are put in a pick and roll and you go with the roll and the other defender seems to stay with the guy with the ball, AND then all of a sudden he leaves that man to go to the man you are sticking and they end up with a wide open shot! So a button that would communicate staying or switching.

                    3. When players dive for balls by the scorer's table or if a ball flies into the stands, have the announcer's react like 'Wooooohhh, heads up Clark!' or something of that nature....

The flopping feature is great by the way....

Since these guys got the game play stuff on lock, I want something small for the association.

I want to be able to match contracts for rookie players.

Since you added the option of players hitting free agency, players coming off their rookie contracts really don't have that option. In the NBA, the team has the option to match the contract, let the guy go, or the player has the option of accepting the qualifying offer.

Since this isn't in the game, the players coming off their rookie contracts tend to leave their teams.

Probably will be a pain to edit in, but I'm hoping you can do it

It's called restricted free agency, and you're right it would be cool. It used to be in madden but they took it out too for some reason.

                          Re: NBA 2k10 Wishlist

                          General Game Ideas
-more off the ball contact (guys bumping cutters) helps to stop all the back doors
-guys who just use speed burst or try to dribble side to side or try to isomotion with big men that can't do that in real life either lose the ball or are easier to get ripped.

-a second fatigue level to complement general fatigue (speed burst is temporary) overusing speed burst causes your players to get more fatigued making it nearly impossible to run up the court

-more animations where a player gets muffed. stop laughing at the word, its when you block a player before he releases the ball. i'm sick of not getting a block (or not even affecting the shot) because i was a half second to early, make it a block or a foul i don't care, just don't make it nothing anymore.

-more urgency when running a play I called, much like when running quick plays.

                          CAP Ideas
-More body types. If anything, let us use the body types from the association rookie classes. if you tell us we can only use predetermined faces, then fine. make more of them, and i'll make do. if we get that camera tech from tiger woods, awesome. but as it stands the players still don't look right.

-This idea is sort of radical and it would change your cap entirely, but i think its worth a look. Different people of the same height can have different body types and would look different weighing the same thing. so in my cap idea, when creating a player you first choose your height and body type. then the game determines your minimum weight which will make your character as thin as possible. For a the height of say 6-5 the thinnest body type will start at like 165, but fore the biggest it will start at like 225.

At this point you can start to increase the weight, which will make the character begin to fill out gradually, until you reach the maximum weight, which will make your character look obese. Again using someone 6-5, the max body weight for the thinnest body type could be 215, while for the thickest body type it could be 275. At these respective weights both players would look obese, but since they have different body types, it happens at different weights. In between this thin and obese are different levels of fitness, and different overall body types that will be shown when the player reaches certain marks in weight. For example, with a 6-5 player with the thinnest body type the, 165 would be skinny, 175 would be thin, 185 would be average, 195 would be muscled, 205 would be thick, 215 would be obese. At different heights or body types the difference could be larger or smaller.

I also would like to see certain rating restrictions based on what level of fitness the player has. A player at his thinnest weight should be able to have exceptional quickness and agility, but should be limited in the strength related categories. On the flip side a player at his largest weight should excel in strength related categories but should be slower, less agile and have stamina issues. Now i know you're saying there are big guys out there that are both strong and quick, but thats because they are of a different body type. Guys like Lebron and Shaq can play at their respective weights because they are naturally bigger and stronger than everyone else their height. If most players were to try and gain enough weight to match them in size, they would either lose much of their quickness and agility, or get hurt from carrying around so much extra weight.

                          Association Ideas
let me start by saying this is deepest association mode ever for this series(or sport for that matter) and even with the game's flaws i enjoy playing it. i just have a few ideas to expand the fun of this mode even more.

-multiple players signed under MLE (self explanatory)

-veteran minimum i tried to sign a guy to fill out my roster for the minimum salary of 459k and he got so insulted he wouldn't sign with my team. how much did he want? 461k...horrible. years in the league already dictate max starting salary for a contract in the game, they should also dictate the minimum.

                          - front office strategy/direction. teams should decide whether they are in a rebuilding/retooling/ or contending mode. this would dictate whether they are trying to stockpile young talent and accumulate cap space, make a few trades to change some pieces or if they're trying to keep the majority of the team together to make a run at the title. this would ad realism to the movement and activity of certain teams, and could help add depth to free agency (an older player seeking a ring would only sign with a rebuilding/retooling team for a great contract, may take less money to play for a contender) Or teams that are rebuilding may trade a player like garnett or ray allen for young talent.

-trade and resigning restrictions (if you sign a player you cant trade him for 3 months or something like that) also if you trade a player and he is cut you have to wait 30 days to sign him again.

-teams buyout contracts (or buyout option)

-team budgets. i think teams need a budget, because that also dictates how teams act. the knicks make so much money that they can always just throw it at free agents and such no matter how it muddles there cap situation. teams like the grizzlies occasionally dump salary because they know they can't afford to pay the luxury tax. my point is that find some way to make a teams financial situation affect whether or not they ever leave the rebuilding or retooling mode. in other words some sort of owner general manager option that can be turned on or off at the beginning of the franchise mode.

-fix team chemistry and player happiness. no more players angry about their playing time because they're averaging 5 fouls a game. players should find other ways to make them unhappy, like playing out of position or not getting enough shots. players like manu ginobli shouldn't lose their mind if they're coming off the bench, especially if they're getting a
                          career high in minutes.

-use my CAP idea from above and incorporate it into all players and draft picks, so we can tell a few things about player before hand. also, make conditioning a factor in training and the game. make it so that players can gain and lose weight if we don't make them train in the offseason, or we can ask them to gain or lose weight to help they're durability/stamina or strength.

-players/team take rating hit for player playing out of position, especially a non point
guard playing point guard. the same way a team with everyone playing at the right position is better.

-fix potential. like hotubu said, players don't magically decline in every rating when they reach a certain age. the same can be said about coming into the league. you don't magically get faster at 26 then you were at 19. your physical attributes tend to gradually decrease as you get older, and your skills tend to increase. 2k has made this better then it has been in the past but it could still improve.

-fix the retiring of coaches, combine the head and assistant coach pool, i simmed like 20 years of franchise and my assistant coach was all A's and my head coach was all D's and F's. eventually add retired players to the coaching pool and the scouting pool.

-have the end of season awards announced gradually like in real life. have the news
broken to us gradually, and have some special announcement for each award/ announcement.

                            Re: NBA 2k10 Wishlist

I forgot to add summer league, and d-league to association mode. also could we also start the nba season with the preseason? cause its stupid to play the preseason with the old ratings, and then have all new ratings when the regular season. you play the preseason to see who got better and who got worse, and learn who can do what. so why even have it if its not gonna tell you what you need to know?

also, bring back bio rhythms, at least for association. you could make it optional, and it would help to add content to the game because it could easily be tracked on the nba.com menu (who's hot and who's cold) and it would give you an excuse to have samuel dalembert hit 3 consecutive 15 foot jumpers against me.

also, the double team is broken. its not as bad as the glitchy automatic turnover from last year, but its worse in a basketball sense. last year there was at least a rotation, and the guy passing out of the double team had to hit the right player, and the defense made an effort to get back. this year the computer just freezes all of my players and slows down the whole game. double teaming should be made to feel more fluid.

a way you could make this is to make it more like a corral at first then a trap. for example, if you were to double team a man that was dribbling it would first feel like two guys doing lock on defense, and you would have the option to pick up your dribble, or try to dribble out of it...you could even try backing up and dribbling past one player like in real life. there could be a point where if you keep your dribble too long then you're more likely to lose the ball or get ripped so you would have to pick up your dribble and try to pass it. when you pick your dribble up, then it would feel like a double team does now, where they're either trying to tie you up or take the ball from you.

as far as doubling in the post, i think it should remain similar to what it is now, except you guys should bring back defensive rotation. rarely on a planned double team does the offensive player who's man left him get the shot because another defender rotates. also, the guy who receives the pass on the double team doesn't always get the shot either, because the last defender often rotates to him and he has to swing the ball to get it the open man. this adds depth to the game, and you don't have to create difficulty by freezing my players to allow the defense to get back and contest the shot like you do now.

                              1. Enough of the skating on the court. Somehow keep the animations, but make the players' feet touch the court....real players cannot move that quickly from one move to another....

                              2. Get rid of players clapping with themselves after getting fouled.....those square fingers do not look natural!

                              3. Improve PS3 graphics... everything is too blurry....players look great during cutscenes, but somehow lose their looks during gameplay....

                              4. Improve player faces.....

                              5. make it harder to get into the paint to score....but don't over-due it.

                              6. use the full-power of this generation's hardware (PS3/360) and see what you guys can do!

                              7. no more windmill dunks in traffic...

                              8. open up the court...better court spacing...things are a little cramped....don't overdue it however.

                              9. new announcers! Clark Kellogg is not even an NBA guy! The last 2 years I have been playing with announcers off; just the PA guy and crowd on!

                              10. don't show the announcers before the game. They don't even look natural.

                              11. Show the players walking into the locker room....this was in 2k6

                              12. Player introductions!

                              13. get rid of blacktop mode! I never play it....can't even complete a dunk in the competition! blacktop mode is just taking up memory space!

**I'll add more soon....this is what I came up with off the top of my head**
