Re: ASSOCIATION PROGRESS
Yea that's what I'm thinking too...
I think there contracts are relatively the same, and Dunleavy is the guy I want overall - BUT - If I can get one or the other w/o including Barbosa than I'll probably go that route.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Re: ASSOCIATION PROGRESS
So my knicks just missed the playoffs in year one of the association. I played about 1/4th of the games.
It was a good rebulding year for me, i started the year with q-rich at the 2, and switched to marbury a few games in...midway through the season i switched gallinari to the 2 and it worked sooo much better.
End of season lineup. (start of next seasons overalls)
pg-duhon-15ppg 8.5 appg 86ovr
sg-gallinari-13ppg 45% 3pt 82ovr (913pt 90 med)
sf-Chandler 17ppg 5 rebs 78 ovr
pf- Lee 82 over 6ppg 10 rpg 82ovr
c-harrington 18 ppg 8 rpg 85ovr
I decided to save cap room for future years and not re-sign nate robinson, he just gets to many shots blocked for me and id rather not have a shoot first point guard comming off the bench. I did re sign david lee, hes a solid starter and if i can improve will be a good 6th man for me.
in the draft with the 14th pick i took a PF with a 75 overal and b potential, he is a beast on the offensive boards and has a great close range game (cant shoot for beans past 7 feet). he will be a good spark off the bench and inside presence.
My team is basically building around gallinari's offense. We deff are a jump shooting team and love the three ball. I am considering moving chandler maybe for a mike miller type player.
my offensive team rating is great, but we really stink on defense. this year ill be training up karl, and possibly chandler with coaching. (im not very confident doing the defensive drills for gallinari.
moving forward, duhon and gallinari are the pieces im going to build around. I really like harrington but hes getting up there, i would be willing to trade him or chandler for a good offer.Comment

Re: ASSOCIATION PROGRESS
Currently 19-13 with the Pistons, 12 min Qrts, playing every game, outsiders rosters, futures sliders.
Had won a load in a row, went to LA to face the Clips, up by 20 after a quarter....like an idiot i get very complacent, Baron starts draining treys for fun and i go and lose it 96-93.
That said im happy with the way we are playing, despite being miles behind the 27-5 on fire Cavs.
POTY so far has to be Rip, with 26.7ppg hes second only to LeBron in the League Leaders for ppg, shooting a stunning .496 field goal percentage.
1 more game and im officially halfway through the season.
Ive already decided i wont be re-signing AI (but probably will Sheed unless i can maybe get Boozer) so will have plenty of money to throw at the many juicy free agents in the coming off season.Comment

Re: ASSOCIATION PROGRESS
Im in my 5th season of my fantasy draft association. I have yet to make the playoffs or have a winning season with the Atlanta Hawks. I play 29 game seasons.
Im currently 8-16. midway through this season Ive made two huge trades which will help next season.
I traded Turiaf and a second round draft pick for Marcus Camby.
I traded Ray Allen and my first round draft pick for Tim Duncan.
only hold overs from season 1 are Hibbert, Crittenton, Wilcox, and I believe Obryant. Since then Ive had 3 top 5 picks. One I did not resign (pf). Im about to get rid of my other draft pick after this season. he has a bad attitude and production has gone down hill(sf/sg). My rookie for this season seems to be the futurem he's nice but inconsistent.
my current starting five
pg-Ronnie Proce
sg- Richard Jefferson (traded Marion or Battier for him a while back)
sf- Kyle Korver
pf-Tim Duncan
c-Marcus Camby
bench- Wilcox, Kenyan Martin, Obryant, Hibbert, Crittenton, Goodman(sg I got in the draft), Eminscu( a foreigner from Italy I got in the draft-whos a bust)
Kenyan Martin has an opt out clause which he says he'll use. his salary is 5,000,000, Eminescu, Im not resigning current salary 4,000,000. both my pgs are free agents. I may just resign Price, and let Crittenton go because he complains about playing time- 3,000,000. Obryant I believe is at roughly 2,500,000. I will not resign him.
I will be excersiing the team option for Hibbert.
Im currently 941k under the salary cap. next season I look to be 14,000,000 under the cap. so I look to get 1 or 2 elite franchise players.
May go after an elite PG or SG. If I go the SG route I'll move Korver back to the bench.
Next season looks to be the year I make some noise.
I have one second draft pick I acquired last season for Derek Fisher.
this game is fantasy but really fun, its easy to get immersed in this game.Comment

Re: ASSOCIATION PROGRESS
jBH3....i lost a 25 point lead to portland in the 3rd game of the season. They are a stacked team. Roy ended up with 41 points and doubling wouldnt stop him. So, I feel your pain with the Blazers.
After I wrote that I wanted to trade LB, he put up 31 last night in game 4/5 v. the Nets but ended up losing to Vince. He pumped in 53 points. It was INSANE. I am having the same issue that the boys do in real life....letting the opposing team's start go nuts. I have the Pacers up next. Ugh.Comment

I've done an okay job containing Roy. The most he got on me in gms 1 and 2 was 27 in gm1.
I go into coach settings and use the 'preferred matchup' menu and put Matt Barnes on Roy. Barnes has done a great job on Roy, and once I get Hill back I'll be able to rest Barnes more because he has fatigued out since I've had him on the court a lot.
I just need to stop Travis Outlaw and Steve Blake from killing me...I haven't had an answer for Outlaw since I use Barnes at 3 to guard Roy at the 2. That leaves J-Rich on Outlaw, and J-Rich has been getting exposed.
I'll stop w/ giving more minutes to Nash over Barbosa since I've played MUCH better D w/ Barbosa on Blake than w/ Nash.
Once Hill comes back I can use a defensive lineup of:
Barbosa on Blake
Barnes on Roy
Hill on Outlaw
Amare on Aldridge
Shaq on Oden
If that doesn't stop Portland than I just have no answer for them, and deserve to get booted out the playoffs.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Re: ASSOCIATION PROGRESS
Decided to start a fantasy draft one along with my real one. I chose the Lakers and have a pretty decent team. I was able to get Nash, Ginobili, Prince, I forgot who my pf was and I got Dampier as center. I don't remember all my bench players either but we have a pretty solid team.Comment

Re: ASSOCIATION PROGRESS
AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I lost game 3 and it was MY BIGGEST HEARTBREAKING LOSS EVER!!!
Being down 0-2 in the 1st rd I figured I've got to pretty much win all my home games to have a chance...
The 1st qtr was a disaster finshing it w/ POR up 38-21...
Amare got two quick fouls and that was it. J-Rich had 17 of my 21 1st Qtr points.
However the 2nd and 3rd qtrs would be a different story. I outscored Portland 36-21 in the 2nd & 32-22 in the 3rd to head into the 4th leading 89-81.
I was up by 17 at one point in the 3rd, but POR went on a run to cut the lead to 8.
The 4th Qtr was even more of a disaster than the 1st...Portland outscored me 35-17. I didn't have any foul problems, I had all my guys out there...I just turned the ball over like 7 or 8 times, and then what shots I could get were bricked...It was horrible...Portland won 116-106.
So now I've got to win the next 4 games...And I don't see that happening.
Damn this Portland team is tough...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, and yea...Barbosa was 3-15.
Jason had 33, Amare 23, Nash 13, and Barnes 10.
POR had 6 in double figures w/ Rudy and Aldridge leading the way w/ 18 a piece.
Roy had his worst game of the series shooting 6-19 and I still couldn't win.Last edited by JBH3; 01-09-2009, 09:54 PM.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Re: ASSOCIATION PROGRESS
I'm in my third season with the T'Wolves. The team is looking really nice now. I signed David Lee in the first off-season, got a first round draft pick and drafted a small foward compared to Paul Pierce. (rated 82)
Second off-season, re-signed Gomes and Corey Brewer, traded Kevin Love who asked to be traded for Kirk Hinrich who in turn asked to be traded. Signed Rudy Gay, Thabo Sefolosha and Ben Wallace from F/A. My team looks like this.
PG. Kirk Hinrich
SG. Rudy Gay
SF. Rookie SF compared to Pierce (86)
PF. David Lee
C. Al Jefferson
Ryan Gomes
Thabo Sefolosha
Corey Brewer
Ben Wallace
From here, a rookie PG (77), rookie C (69) and a rookie PF (71)
My bench is a bit thin on scoring but the team is a beast definsevley. It's funny seeing how teams turn out, the Pistons have done a good job. They have Nash, Hamilton, Prince, Boozer and Shaq as their starting 5 this season. I'll be keeping an eye on them.Comment

Re: ASSOCIATION PROGRESS
Luck...I'm having no such thing against this Blazers team. Couldn't pull out a win in the West Qtr Finals so I got swept by Portland...AND THEN...to start the 2009-10 season the first game is a hm gm vs POR which would result in another loss to the Blazers. It was another horrible 4th qtr against this Blazers team...I don't know what it is...I play crappy in the 1st, great in the 2nd & 3rd...to the point where I had an 8 pt lead heading into the 4th in this one, but I still ended up losing to them to start the new season in another double digit/4th qtr meltdown w/ a final score of 119-109.
To make matters worse they only got better after my 1st offseason by upgrading at SF by adding Shawn Marion. So their starting 5 is: Oden (C), Aldridge (PF), Marion (SF), Roy (SG), Blake (PG) w/ Rudy Fernandez, Martell Webster, Travis Outlaw - all rated in the high 70's low 80's - coming off the bench. This team is nasty, and I have lost 6 straight games to them.
As for my offseason...I think things turned out great.
Here's what I did:
- Accepted player option on Steve Nash...One more yr w/ the guy.
- Re-signed Matt Barnes (78 overall) to the vet minimum at $449K, and is my 6th man - although he has'nt officially been given that role yet.
- Drafted PG Thomas Powell (72 overall) w/ the 21st overall pick. He is an Andre Miller size guard; 6'2 200 lbs. I scouted him heavily, and his potential rating is a B minus. I used him in workouts too, and was glad I was able to get him in the draft. He should definitely factor into my future plans.
- Drafted 2nd rd pick, PF J. Webb who is a 65 overall, and is a defensive player w/ a 79 block rating and C potential. He's like a Stromile Swift size PF. He has good athletic ability, defensive skills, but offers nothing on the offensive end.
Since I couldn't address my swingman needs via the draft. I decided to make a trade to address my need for a swingman.
Here's the Deal:
Minnesota Recieves
Leandro Barbosa
Goran Dragic (B Potential)
Alando Tucker
2010 2nd Rd draft pick from Charlotte, acquired in the J-Rich deal.
Phoenix Recieves:
Mike Miller
2011 1st Rd pick
2010 2nd Rd Pick
I really like this move.
Originally I wanted Mike Dunleavy over Mike Miller, but Miller had a $9.75mil expiring contract. Plus... Minny had a log-jam at SF too w/ Ryan Gomes, Corey Brewer, and Rodney Carney all sitting there fighting for minutes w/ the starter Mike Miller who got his 30+. All those guys have contracts w/ a couple of years still left on them. So Minnesota was able to get something in return for Miller, and can get PT for the younger Gomes, Brewer, and Carney.
With this move I'll have potentially $40-PLUS mil in cap room heading into the 2010 free agent class. IF Lebron, Bosh, or Wade is there I'll be getting one of them. Amare has a player option on his contract, but I've got to re-sign him since I absolutely BEAST w/ him in this game.
FOR MINNY...Randy Foye moves over to SG, and Barbosa is slotted as their starting PG w/ Telfair and Dragic competing for a back-up role.
Barbosa, PRE-TRADE, was rated an 83, but after going to Minny his rating fell to a 79! He is still the best PG they have, but I thought that was interesting to see.
Dragic I used often in development drills improving his mid-range and 3 pt'er to high 70's low 80's ratings (respectivley) so he comes to Minny @ 23 yrs w/ great potential and a much better offensive game. I just didn't like his shot animations, and was ineffective w/ him...but I'm sure the CPU won't have the same problems as I did.
Since I was short on big-men...w/ only Shaq, Amare, Robin Lopez, and the rookie PF I used my 2nd rd pick on...
I used my MLE on Drew Gooden.
He was signed as a Role-player to a 4yr/$20.89mil deal, and fills a huge need..., that being the need to add a post-option coming off the bench.
He is the wide-bodied type big I covet, and his versatility to play PF/C greatly helps my team.
Maybe once Shaq retires he could become my starter if the impressive 2nd yr player Robin Lopez doesn't beat him out.
I had interest in Charlie Villanueva, Paul Milsapp, Hakim Warrick, and Anderson Varejao.
However, Charlie V & Milsapp couldn't be signed w/ my MLE, and I liked Gooden's versatility to play PF/C over Warrick.
Varejao was a down-grade offensively from Gooden, and I have Robin Lopez who is comparable in Post D to Varejao.
The trade for Miller left me w/ a hole in my 9-Man rotation because now I no longer had a viable/veteran back-up to Nash.
So my 9th man, backup PG role, will actually be a platoon of my 2009 1st rd pick and Jacque Vaughn who was signed to the vet minimum.
Who knows...I might progress the rook to the point where I won't even need to use Vaughn at all, but in my 1st game of the season he did pretty good coming up w/ a steal in a great play in the 3rd qtr and finishing w/ 4 points, 4 assists, and ZERO TOs in 12 minutes.
- Signed Awvee Storey to vet minimum to add another body.
So your 2009-2010 Phoenix Suns look like this:
Starting 5 / MPG
C - Shaquille O'Neal / 30 MPG
PF - Amare Stoudamire / 38 MPG
SF - Mike Miller / 35 MPG
SG - Jason Richardson / 38 MPG
PG - Steve Nash / 32 MPG
Bench
6th Man - SG Matt Barnes / 25 MPG
RP - PF Drew Gooden / 18 MPG
RP - Robin Lopez / 12 MPG
Prospect - PG Tyrone Poole / 8 MPG
BW - Jacque Vaughn / 8 MPG
RP - SF Jared Dudley / 0 MPG
Prospect - PF J. Webb / 0 MPG
IR - BW Awvee Storey
IR - EMPTY
IR - EMPTY
As you can see Jared Dudley has a 'Role-Player' role still, but has no minutes assigned to him.
That was given to him from when he was in Charlotte, but I haven't really got a place for him in my rotation. If I change it his morale will drop. I don't want to officially give him a role, but he will still see some P/T given fouls etc.
He is currently on the block, and I'm trying to get a PG for him. One which will fill my need for a backup so that I don't have to platoon a rookie and Jacque Vaughn. Haven't had any luck yet 3 games into the 2009-10 season.
When I get home I can post the FA acquisitions the CPU made...
Off the top of my head here are ones that I remember correctly:
Carlos Boozer signed w/ Miami
Paul Millsapp signed w/ Utah
Anderson Varejao signed w/ Orlando
Jameer Nelson signed w/ OKC
Andre Miller signed w/ OKC
Charlie Villanueva signed w/ OKC
Shawn Marion signed w/ Portland
I'll post the other signings later tonight...There were some interesting ones.
I don't understand the Jameer Nelson AND Andre Miller signing by the Thunder when Westbrook and Watson are on board. Watson's contract is expiring after the season, but maybe I can swing a 3-team deal w/ someone to put one of those guards on a different team.Last edited by JBH3; 01-14-2009, 01:59 PM.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Re: ASSOCIATION PROGRESS
Nice off-season,^^^
personally i would have preferred dunleavy to miller, i also think he would be a more likely candidate especially since minny would like the 2010 cap relif miller would have given them.
Dont ask my why but a really like the signing of jaque vaughn, i think hed be a great defensive backup pg for phx. I would have prefferred a big bodied centre over gooden though, being the basketball protaganist that i am, i feel gooden would only sign to be a starter and wouldnt be effective at C.
Are you gonna go after any more athletic SF's, and is jared dudley get much run in your rotation?
good post(s) btw.Comment

Re: ASSOCIATION PROGRESS
love the off season as well. I might have to sim my season to the playoffs and see what happens and then play in the off season. I might enjoy the 09-10 Suns instead of this team. After I read yours, I was thinking that I might have to start the sim!!! Damn Portland and the matrix.Comment
