        You don't need a $3000 computer to run the latest and greatest games. And gaming is way more GPU intensive than CPU intensive. It's your videocard that's going to have the greatest impact on performance for most games out there.
        if this is like last years game than it is more processor hungry than video card because it is coded like the xbox 360 that is why if you have a quad core you can do this to boost the game to run better

        search for your "NBA 2k10" folder inside your C:\Documents and settings\...\ etc.
        - inside there is a "Saves" folder, and inside this there is a "Config.cfg" file, open it up with notepad
        - the last four lines should be:

        .....
        CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_0 = 1
        CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_1 = -1
        CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_2 = -1

The scores are constantly over 150.

          I really think basketball games are going in the wrong direction with these 5 minute quarters and fancy animations. Gameplay has seriously suffered in my opinion.

          I will say that 2K7-2K9 was decent. Each one got better and worse at the same time. 2K10 is kind of the same way, but the goods are cosmetic, great announcing and presentation, great graphics and animations, but just terrible control and stat balance. The gameplay is falling further and further behind on 2Ks priority list and it's sad.

          Maybe I'll revisit the game when a PC patch shows up in a few months. Too bad...just too bad.
          unfortunately, i agree with your sentiments. i thought last years gameplay was pretty damn good and I agree that 2k10 feels clunky. i was hoping they would have spent more effort on the gameplay and stat balance as well. it looks/sounds great on my machine, but....

            i feel this is way smoother than 2k9...im not seeing the clunkyness at all...i have the sliders to my liking and it plays way better than that dunkfest from last year...i dont get how gameplay took a step back from last year when this year they have court spacing the cpu using the mid range game....good god last year was so damn arcady...

            i just wish they focused on defense and more collision animations for this year but hey those are my only complaints...

            i have courts and dornas modded already its only a matter of time before i get in and mod the arena music..

              Good to know there's quad core support, isn't the cloth physics borked anyways right now?

              This isn't a case of PC hardware not having enough power but rather a poorly optimized piece of software. You shouldn't get poorer than 360 performance/image quality even if you had a lower end core 2 duo.

                I've tried googling (and searching this site) and I can't quite find anything consistent on how the config.cfg file should be edited for quad cores...

                  Re: NBA 2K10 PC thread

                  I found this on 2K's forums:

                  I saw this thread at guru3d forums, courtesy of georaldc

                  "I just found a pretty good fix for my 2k stutter problems. It seems the game by default doesn't use up additional cpu cores, especially when doing the cloth physics. Pretty stupid if you ask me since I'm guessing it takes full advantage of the 360 and ps3 CPUs because of the fact that they don't experience any stuttering during cross court runs.

                  Anyway, you just need to edit out your config.cfg file (2k sports/saves under appdata folder in Windows 7 for me) and change the following values:

                  STALL_CPU_ON_END_FRAME = 0
                  CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_0 = 1
                  CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_1 = -1
                  CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_2 = -1
                  CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_3 = -1

                  to

                  STALL_CPU_ON_END_FRAME = 1
                  CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_0 = 1
                  CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_1 = 1
                  CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_2 = -1
                  CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_3 = -1

                  These are the most common settings I saw for dual cores when researching on this specific tweak. You can play around if you have tri-cores or quads, and set the other threads to their own values. This increased my framerate a fair bit and eliminated a good amount of the stuttering. I still couldn't get to run stutter-free, though I did eliminate virtually all stuttering by disabling cloth physics.

                  Oh yeah, speaking of playing around with the values, this is what I use:

                  STALL_CPU_ON_END_FRAME = 1
                  CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_0 = 1
                  CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_1 = 2
                  CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_2 = 3
                  CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_3 = 4

                  Improves my framerate even more than the one above. Max with 8xAA, no cloth physics and I have steady, 60fps stutter free gameplay."

                  I have a 2.0Ghz C2D processor with a GTX260M, 4GB RAM, Vista 64 (laptop) and tried the one on the bottom. When I first played, I freaked since the the game was constantly stuttering which didn't happen in 2K9. Tried that cfg change and now it's smooth as butter.

                  Also in Vista, the save folder with the config.cfg file is located here:
                  C:\Users\[username]\appdata\Roaming\2K Sports\NBA 2K10\Saves

                  Note: change drive letter if Windows is not installed to Drive C in your comp. Replace [username] with your Vista username.

                    I am experiencing problems when i try to load a roster that was made by an xbox360 user that was uploaded at 2K Share. The download part goes smoothly, but when I try to load the Roster file after downloading, it crashes to desktop.

                    I also downloaded a roster file made by a PC gamer, and it loaded fine.

                    Anyone experiencing this?

                        I was wondering why players don't look as realistic i expected and i found this:
                        In config changed player LOD from 0 to 3 and wow!Just amazing.
                        Also changed sideline characters to 2 for even better quality there.

                        I lalso see that in config particle effects is set to 0.Anyone know why?

                            Can anyone tell me how to save replays? I go to replay and everything's working fine - with the controller and with the mouse/keyboard. But I can's save! It says that in order to save I need to press F2 or LC (I think) and I tried everything and it doesn't save. Does anyone know what I should press to save? By the way, I'm using a PS2-replica controller and it works great, except for saving replays...

                            Thanks!

                              I can't access my computer at the moment, but in 2k9, i remember you could only save replays IF you entered the replay menu with your keyboard not the controller. and then you could press f2 to save.

                                I think I tried it and it didn't work, but maybe I did something wrong. I'll try again and see if it works.
