OR....if you want to play in a 65 game but you're rated an 80, tough titty. That's the way it works on every other game ever. Your skill level goes up, you play with players near that level.

Don't you think it's a bit ironic to post something like that in this thread? The very idea of this thread is that people are outraged because 2K exercised no flexibility when limiting players to 5 minutes. They didn't try to think of a way to make it inclusive, and that's exactly what you're doing. My way satisfies everyone. The higher you go the less people will be up there with you. My way allows you to have access to play with anyone any time.

What happens when if I'm passively into the mode, but managed to work my way up to to 78 and I've got a friend who just got the game a couple of weeks ago? Do I have to make another character just to play with him? Should I have to wait until he gets up to my level?

Exclusion is not the way to go.

In no game where you build up a character is there an option to play with a lesser version of your character so that you can play with your friends. There is an option to allow your less experienced friends to play with you, so you can help them get to your level, but no option to go DOWN to their level.

And no, I don't think it's ironic. The idea is not that all limitations are bad. The idea is that a limitation is bad if it takes away from sim basketball.

Besides, if it's a case of you with some friends, it's not exclusion. Simply host the match and broaden the range of OVR allowed. If you want to help them along, share the ball more than you would in a game where everyone is at your skill level. People do this in real life all the time.

i'll sign for sure. but also need to remember you can get 90-100 point games out of team-up mode in 2k9 so it's not that bad. Just depends on skill level and game pace. I think max it should be 7 online but offline it shouldnt be more than 10 minutes if that.

Ken North is the guy who told everyone about the issue. He was drafted to the Lakers. Kobe Bryant is average just over 17 PPG as a result of the shortened quarters.

Well I just named it that, but to fully flesh out the feature the idea is this.

Sure you could play with your 89 rated guy with your 56 rated friend in an open game, but maybe you don't want a game where player's ratings are all over the place. Let's say your friend enters a 55-65 game. Now you have the option to join him by "normalizing" (now that I think about it this isn't a good name for it. Let's call it devolving) your player. When you join your friend you will play with the 65 rated version of your player. It's all inclusive.

There would still be open play, and your friend wouldn't be able to play in high rated games with you.

Wow..... I can't believe I just read this, I was getting excited for this mode after playing the combine but now I guess I will just play the association mode unless they patch this issue. Very disappointing.

me too, this still isnt a deal breaker(its close), but it is 1 mode that i wont be playing
