Re: Official NBA 2k10 Impressions Thread

ive got the pc version, despite the brainless AI who doesnt allow me to enjoy anymore everything else is topnotch

the graphics are just top, by far most superior visual sportsgame ever made on pc but u need a good machine, i had no frame issues at all with max of max settings 90fps (which is the max fps the game allows)

and the 2k servers are either off or immediatly full which is quite a joke, i am able maybe 2 times a week to log in .......................................

Now that I've tried the game, I have to say that I am not impressed with the constant lag during gameplay. That makes games take forever. Still a good game, though.

Re: Official NBA 2k10 Impressions Thread

They really need to fix the passing and movement in the game. If Im swinging the ball of a double team or where a guy helped out to stop penetration, I dont want the passes to be soft over the head passes, nor do I want a post entry feed to be a pampers type soft overhead pass where the ball goes 10 feet in the air then finally lands. How has this still not been addressed? If NBA players threw passes like this we'd be watching the worst offence in the world because no one would ever be open and theyd all look like headless chickens.

And I still hate the movement, in how you get stuck in animations or stuck when the defence bodies you. Especially with regard to pick and rolls when youre dribbling right if your guy doesnt hit the pick, sometimes even when he does, youre slowed up bigtime by him handchecking you and you can go anywhere. That does not happen in the NBA or any form of basketball. Youre supposed to have control of your character at all times yet when Im trying to dribble with the player that has the ball its like hes stuck in cement.

I still cant believe its almost November and the online team up still doesnt work. Unreal. Im seriously close to just playing COD exclusively and returning 2k10. I hope the patch fixes some things.

ive been bashing on 2k since i bought the game on the 6th. Truth be told, once i started playing this more and stopped switching back and forth, even with the glitches, 2k will be the game i play my dynasty games on. I played alot this past weekend, and outside of the bugs, the game is near flawless. we all know about the PIP, and the lead passing, but i may just lowers the passing attribute for both the user and the human and just play ball man! Once i started to get used to ISO-motion again, i remember how sick these animations are! i still have some gripes, but man im loving this game!

i had 3 or 4 days of fun with this game until i saw seeming endless AI flaws on defense - now i have the game and waiting and waiting until a patch comes just to hope it will be playable .... without guarantee though.
last time i bought a game on release date - just dont worth it ...

I got the game 10 days ago and played mainly nba today games and a couple of pick-ups (when I was lucky enough to not lose the connection).
At the moment I believe that the main accomplishment of the game is the ability to capture "the moment" of a NBA game. There are definitely a lot of crappy and nonsense things (especially in D), that hopefully the patch will solve, but sometimes you have a "more real than the real thing" feeling, and I'm not referring just to dunks and tip-in dunks.
A good methapor is the new pressbok feature (that I totally love by the way): you have a lot of awkward photos, but you will always have a bunch of pics that are simply amazing. And just for this bunch of pics (read great moments of gameplay), you will be fine of having spending your time (read money) for uploading the pressbook (read playing the game)

i thought i would never say this, but w/ all the glitches in the game i may have to lay my 2K10 down 4 a nap 'til the patch comes out. i am currently playing My Player mode & the frame rate is just KILLING me!!! goin' through the offense is 1 thing but when i'm taking a jump shot & it goes from slow 2 fast (or vice versa) it's another. how in the hell does 1 get their timing down?! not 2 mention that i get tired of passing the ball into the post 2 a wide open player & them CONSTANTLY missing layups or kicking it back out. these are just a few of my gripes w/ the game, i'm already 3 games into my D-League so i think i will just wait 'til the patch comes out & then start My Player mode all over.
                  ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!?!?!?!

i played with the first slight adjustments from i think gerret it was, anyways, depending on matchups i had a good experience and was pleased then i tested some other teams and it was horrible, i downloaded albys slider and again, it fixed the overpowered magic and i could challenge them. today i tried to stop the lakers with celtics - it was the most garbage experience i had by far with this game. no matter how high i set the def.awareness and tuned down on help defense my mates ran like headless chickens on defense.
bynum was EVERY frickin time in the key and got 2pts, i tried everything to prevent it but it wasnt possible.
                    eg:
farmer is driving inside im with house fronting him, garnett comes to help, farmer had no chance at all but perkins leaves bynum for even more help D and of course he got the ball for the next easy 2pts i thought im stucked in a nightmare, just every time lakers scored in the paint - the defensive AI of the users teammates is totally broke and i got the evidence for this today.

i got to the conclusion that in nba2k u need for every possible team matchup an own slider setting and this is just a joke.
dont get me as a pure *****, first i defended the game against everyone who said this game is garbage but today i got it why ppl are saying this. im really disappointed and this was the last time i bought this game.

everything is topnotch in this game like commentators, shooting feeling, animations and so on but its worthless without proper AI, why do 2k improve everything but the AI, i just dont get it, they are in this point like EA, let it look good but ignore the most important parts like AI.
Awesome post, man. I've had similar experiences - no matter what I do, the CPU scores in the paint at will because of the defensive AI. It's just like the DB AI in Madden.

I've seen some complain about the early "MVP" chants some players get...I played a game today and my player went to the line for some free throws and the crowd began that chant, mind you its the fourth game of the season, I'm thinking "yea whatever".

Around 8 minutes into the first quarter of the CLE Vs. BOS game, IRL, Lebron blocks a dunk attempt by Rajon Rondo, the crowd begins a MVP chant, First game of the season.

Case of Cleveland fanboyism or 2k being on point?? Hmmm....

The Lakers crowd gave Kobe the "MVP" chant one minute into the game IRL, haha.

Re: Official NBA 2k10 Impressions Thread

I've been playing both Live and 2k back and forth to compare them, and I have my final thoughts on 2k (just a warning to the mods, I'm going to be mentioning Live, but only as a way to better explain 2k's weaknesses).

Isomotion is just terrible. Live's dribbling controls are so much deeper and more responsive. In 2k, I can maybe pull off a spin move 1 out of 10 tries. In Live, I can do a spin move every time. In Live, I can do a any move I can think of on demand. I can do a crossover whenever I want, I can do a step back whenever I want. This is mostly due to Live's use of the right stick for dribbling - it gives you way more control of the dribbling.

2k's jump shooting is also a mess. With most players you can only shoot "set shots" and 2k doesn't even allow most players to do leaners and moving jumpers. Live's jump shooting is pretty revolutionary and sooooo intuitive and quick - it is smooth as silk.

In Live, the type of shot you do is determined by your player's momentum and the direction that you move the left stick. If you are moving to the right, your player will do a "moving leaner" to the right, as opposed to 2k, where you would be forced to stop and do a slow "set shot." Player momentum does not play a role in 2k's jump shots AT ALL (except with some players, like Kobe). 2k's jump shooting overall is just very slow.

Also, 2k has almost no body contact compared to Live. In 2k, is it so easy to get into the paint because there is just no body contact with defenders. You just slip and slide around defenders like a greased pig and shots in the paint are way too easy to make because of the lack of body contact on layups and dunks.

That's it. I have made my final decision and my final thought is that overall, Live is a much more realistic game that gives you WAY more control (I find Gamespot's review to be pretty much dead on). 2k's animations are amazing, but their controls are a mess. I think right now 2k is kind of trying to cover up their lack of depth by distracting us with tons of cool animations - but under the surface there really is very little control in 2k.

I have to disagree man....set shoot do go in. you just have to know when a player is ready. Every player is different. In Live everyone has the same moves. No different animations. All leaner look the same. Isomotion may seem tough at first. But I think the problem is most people are holding speed. People don't understand player momentum (has to be accounted for). And I will admit that 2k doesn't really do a good job showing how to do each move. But isomotion works. In

You can hit moving shoots or non set shoots. Probably I'm seeing people don't notice...is that how often do you players in real-life hit these amazining off balance shots. Not as often as it happens in Live. Brandon Roy can hit the same shot a Kobe hit consistently. That makes no sense. Brandon Roy is more of a set-up feet type of shooter....Where as in Kobe is fade...pull...leaner.... and set-up type of shooter.

I do agree that paint shots in 2k can get out of hand. But the problem I have with Live...Is that there too much contact....There is no isolating and if you do get by your man. That same guy is able to cause a collision animation even though you blown by him. I think with 2k all you need to do is fix the sliders.

And by the way...Live has no post game or fast break game.

I might sound like a totally Live *****...But I'm not...I own both games. Live has step-up huge from last years game play wise. But they are still a few year behind in 2k.
