Finishing with your right or left hand???? Very different. I can go that direction but I am constantly finishing with the off hand instead of dominant hand.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2k10 Impressions Thread
I just spent 15 minutes in freestyle practice trying to figure out if using the shot stick actually works anywhere close like I thought it did.
Well pushing the shot stick at the same spot on the court showed that the player will use either hand to finish no matter direction you push the shot stick. From the same spot on the court I could never guess if I was going to shoot a right or left handed layup despite trying to always shoot a dominate hand layup.
In conclusion.....shot stick = fail.
I gave it a few years hoping they would weed out the stupid animations but clearly it wasn't about old animations it was about a lack of understanding of the game of basketball. I cannot stand having guys like Lamar Odom drive left handed then finish right handed despite me using the shot stick towards his left hand. Lamar Odom is a dominant hand type player.
A little thing for some people but for me this has been one of the biggest problems with 2k basketball games and it drives me crazy that despite having "shot stick" it basically is no more valuable than pressing the X button which I am going to go back to using since I can't control the animations I want anyway.
I am real close to giving console games a chance again. NBA Live....Last edited by J.R. Locke; 10-20-2009, 05:07 PM.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2k10 Impressions Thread
All i can add at this point is that (now my game isn't freezing anymore)...I am playing some absolutely EPIC games v the CPU.
Some things could be done better and I hope they fix the numerous bugs...but, at the end of the day, NBA 2K10 is the best 2K game ever IMO.
Just so many small things are done right. I played as the Jazz v Bulls last night and the Bulls missed a shot right at the end of the game...I went up as Boozer, Noah went up for the rebound...I just got it. Was fouled. Won the game.
I watched the replay and saw Boozer just get one hand slightly in front of Noah to grab the game sealing rebound...I 'just' had better position. Absolutely perfect. It had been a WAR on the boards all game between those two and it was so satisfying to grab the board that sealed the game. A small thing, yes. But done absolutely perfectly.
Great game.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2k10 Impressions Thread
I dnt think the rotations are the problem. the problem is on higher levels the cpu open man never misses. in nba rotations are designed so that certain players will b open. the old phrase "make this guy hit shots to beat us" comes to mind. the problem is every guy hits open shots especially on hof mode. also the cpu has esp when it comes to going up for the shot an Kickin it out to open man.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2k10 Impressions Thread
Just had a game with my Pistons vs the Knicks (at home). The Knicks played like the Knicks - they sucked... They showed some sparks and almost came back but couldn't do much in the 4th quarter...just like the real Knicks!
DC will probably be happy to know that Bynum had great passes and a GREAT block over a much taller guy (forgot who it was). Oh yeah, he had a fastbreak dunk which was great! And of course, just like the real Bynum, he lost the ball twice trying to cross over the Knicks players. Just like the real thing! But man, Ben Gordon went cold...couldn't score anything! No 3's no mid-range, nothing...eventually he layed it in, but then missed his shots again...poor guy, had a rough night...
LOVE THIS GAME!My Specs:
ZX Spectrum
CPU: Z80 @ 3.5 MHz
GPU: Monochrome display
RAM: 48 KB
OS: Sinclair BASICComment

Re: Official NBA 2k10 Impressions Thread
I can stress enough how good it feels to see D Wade finish like D wade....Bron finishing like Bron....Forget that...centers not being able to finish like sg's...non atheletic centers BEING non atheletic...this is why 2k will stay in rotation...Comment

2K will be in my rotation starting tonight. Havne't even played it, beyond the demo, but I couldn't hold out anymore. Luckily, I have a great wife, who picked the game up for me this evening as a surprise. can't wait to get it home.Twitter - WTF_OS

Re: Official NBA 2k10 Impressions Thread
The CPU PGs still try to force it in there with the pass, so I end up with about 20 steals a game.
Should I turn down the backdoor cut slider? I have it at 15 at the moment.
The first issue is the one I want to clear up especially. When that type of play happens I feel hopeless.
When you guard the pg, do you often go for the steal and do you stick tight to him? I wonder if you do that that it makes the pg do the backdoor cut or post pass.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2k10 Impressions Thread
I love how star players really make a difference, especially at higher difficulty settings. If my star players are on the bench, I'm helpless against the really good teams.
I was playing as the Thunder against the Spurs, and actually tied them at the half on Hall of Fame. My offense was clicking and I was very efficient. By the time the 4th quarter rolled around, my lack of depth got me and the Spurs blew me out.
At the start of the fourth with Durant on the bench, I had no answers offensively. As soon as he gets back into the game, he scores 8 consecutive points. I lost the game, but I was happy to see that his presence really matters and that I can't do jack without him. It makes having All Star caliber players that much more valuable.According to my old marketing professor, satisfaction is when product performance meets or exceeds consumer expectation.Comment

You really feel mis-matches also...I was getting absolutely monstered by Shaq as I had no bigs on the floor.
I am enjoying this game more and more each day...pretty much the opposite of my experience with NBA 2K9.
Kully...I'm using some SIM sliders off the net + Pared's sliders also with DC's changes (see thread).
No rush to settle on a set until the patch drops.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2k10 Impressions Thread
I think people have a problem though with the fact the CPU players who are open hardly ever miss shots...whereas 'real' NBA guys miss open J's all the time. Teams leave guys open / rotate off guys for that reason in the real NBA.
Sliders fix this easily...so it's not a problem and is a huge upgrade on 2K9.
However, I am an offline v the CPU player. I am not sure what the experience is like for the online fellas.Comment
