Re: Is shot release automatic?
they let the animation play out instead of breaking animation when you release late or early. i actually like this idea, i think it will help online play, but it goes off the player ratings and then with a good slider
if the shot misses realistic then IMO thats all that matters.Comment

but its taking away user control..........we might as well put the game on coach mode now, cuz really what else nis left
i like realistic field goal percentage as well, but 2k should fix the way it implements this, it should be like a window, and the window should decrease depending on the defense, and all windows should be different depending on skill from that range
Oh 2k, and what is up with those developer diary's about defense, was he joking????
basically the way it is now is that it depends on the player to miss shots not defense forcing him tooComment

Re: Is shot release automatic?
yeah and it more successful on the lower settings. its still show bad releases and if you do hold it then you are banking in his rating to go in. so you still need to get perfect release in order to shoot in someone face or when defenders are around but if you open i would hold and let the rating matter. i did this all last year and still had a great timeComment

Re: Is shot release automatic?
The thing is, it isn't giving realistic field goal percentages.."I'm so far ahead of my time, I'm bout to start another life
Look behind you, I'm bout to pass you twice
Back to the future and gotta slow up for the present
I'm fast, dudes can't get past my past
How they supposed to deal with my perfect present?"Comment

Re: Is shot release automatic?
Correct timing is not necessary anymore. I dont think they should make shot makes based off of ratings. It should be based off of user skill. If Im playing someone online and they shoot it should be based off of their skill if they make it or not. This is a disadvantage for good players cause it makes scrubs better. Im speaking for online users.Last edited by haloofduty; 10-07-2009, 06:49 PM.Comment

in regards to user control on shooting is not needed really. live 10 allows to shoot early or shoot late but majority of time you will miss those shots(i say 1/6 times you will brick it) so if you dont learn perfect releases you pretty much screwed and it makes the shot look ugly. least with 2k the animation play fully out and the miss is determine by release, defense, and ratingsComment

Re: Is shot release automatic?
idk, the lowest I've seen is like 45% w/ edited sliders, which is actually a good percentage in the nba."I'm so far ahead of my time, I'm bout to start another life

Re: Is shot release automatic?
my defense is fine. only thing i had to do was turn down that defensive assist to 25 cause on 50 they be moving your player when you dont want to and i wasnt digging that(let the noobs have that) but im glad i can adjust it and I did

yeah they have windows, which is better, u do know that players release early and late sometimes right???, the animation should show that factComment

Re: Is shot release automatic?
Bad decision by 2K. It wont be a huge negative if shots are based on ratings because that will result in normal FG %s anyway.
But having timing is really important.
If you control the PG and you know the center is about to try and block your shot, you want to release that shot quickly, and not wait for the animation to go thoughComment

well ive got even worse news
my shooting sliders for human are 46 across the board, but i strictly shot from the three holding the stick down, with ron artest and vulchic
first three shots a clanker, pretty fairly well guarded
then i got open
i went on to hit 9 three point shots in a row between vulacic and artest,
it appears for now that as long as a player is wide open, its gonna go down, when im am heavily guarded i went 1 for 7, lightly guarded with room to shoot , 3 of 9, but when im wide open i dont miss at all period
this is on 10 min , idk what to make of this, keep in mind artest aint no reggie miller, but he looked like him
terrible, terrible, terrible, if this gets out online, ur finished, no need to play
yes this is a game breaker, the cpu just cant keep up with the amount of threes being drained, in turn they start shooting threes, but of course theres hit the rim, which then leads to easy buckets in transition and so on and so onComment

Re: Is shot release automatic?
They ditched the "quick jumper" animation you used to trigger by releasing the shot too quickly, and also ditched the ability to hold the shot button and get a travel. If you hit the shoot button, your player will shoot their sig jumper. But your release point still affects the shot, and your ability to shoot the jumper is still graded on timing. Think of it like the free throw. No matter when you release, the free throw animation is the same...but if you don't time it correctly, you lower the percentages.
Go to shootaround, and you will see that holding it will get you "poor release" every time, and while you will still get the same animation, your jumper game will suck, especially on Superstar or higher. You will simply not hit many poor release jumpshots on higher difficulties.
This brings up another thing about releases points though...Jeez are they quick!
From the teams I've practiced with, they range from a literal tap to a slightly held button press. Very few jumpers in 2K10 require you to hold the button for more than a second to get "perfect" release. A guy like Ridenhour's release requires hitting the shot button juuuust long enough to not pumpfake.
Its going to be really tough to learn all the releases this year, because the window for getting the right timing has gotten ALOT smaller. Feels good when you get a particular release down pat though...(Redd)Last edited by HMcCoy; 10-07-2009, 08:44 PM.Hank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment

played somebody on hof today, i went 7 of 9 from the three with john salmons, just holding the shotstick
this is really bad, and it has to be fixed, i hear what ur saying but what u dont get is that the shots are falling automatically somehow with the worst release possibleComment
