Re: Is shot release automatic?
Have any of you guys tried the 3 point contest yet? There is a meter while you shoot and it helps with learning the release point of players. It is very hard to get the meter to stop where it is suppose too, you really have to be quick. If you haven't tried it yet you might want to.If a loved one is expecting a baby or just had one, please read about Craniosynostosis. Re: Is shot release automatic?
They ditched the "quick jumper" animation you used to trigger by releasing the shot too quickly, and also ditched the ability to hold the shot button and get a travel. If you hit the shoot button, your player will shoot their sig jumper. But your release point still affects the shot, and your ability to shoot the jumper is still graded on timing. Think of it like the free throw. No matter when you release, the free throw animation is the same...but if you don't time it correctly, you lower the percentages.
Go to shootaround, and you will see that holding it will get you "poor release" every time, and while you will still get the same animation, your jumper game will suck, especially on Superstar or higher. You will simply not hit many poor release jumpshots on higher difficulties.
This brings up another thing about releases points though...Jeez are they quick!
From the teams I've practiced with, they range from a literal tap to a slightly held button press. Very few jumpers in 2K10 require you to hold the button for more than a second to get "perfect" release. A guy like Ridenhour's release requires hitting the shot button juuuust long enough to not pumpfake.
Its going to be really tough to learn all the releases this year, because the window for getting the right timing has gotten ALOT smaller. Feels good when you get a particular release down pat though...(Redd)Last edited by HarryDickman; 10-10-2009, 08:15 AM.Comment

Re: Is shot release automatic?
theres some player animations regardless of how long u hold on to shot stick or button they will have a perfect release while others u really have to time it correctly to get a perfect releaseComment

Re: Is shot release automatic?
Most of the releases are very quick. Disregard the perfect release thing, Most of my shots go in on early bad release."I'm so far ahead of my time, I'm bout to start another life
Look behind you, I'm bout to pass you twice
Back to the future and gotta slow up for the present
I'm fast, dudes can't get past my past
How they supposed to deal with my perfect present?"Comment

Re: Is shot release automatic?
When I first read this thread, I immediately had the idea of why this was done. I'm not sure about the 360 last year, but the lag was so bad on the ps3, it was difficult sometimes to get the timing right on the jumpers. My timing was so screwed because some games were less laggy than others. I think they did the automatic release in order to counter the lag that they have on the online games. I finally played my first full game online last night and I know you guys will hate this but I actually liked not having to figure out the timing online. But at the same time, I can understand where you guys are coming from as well. Offline, I would rather determine the release of my own shot.Comment
