    Its going to be really tough to learn all the releases this year, because the window for getting the right timing has gotten ALOT smaller. Feels good when you get a particular release down pat though...(Redd)

      Perfect J's don't always fall...bad releases sometimes do. Release point is a modifier, not the end-all. If you have good space and your feet are set, if you're in a players hotspot and he's hit a few in a row...release point isn't as relevent.

        Have any of you guys tried the 3 point contest yet? There is a meter while you shoot and it helps with learning the release point of players. It is very hard to get the meter to stop where it is suppose too, you really have to be quick. If you haven't tried it yet you might want to.

          I tried it and that meter is terrible, it's not very smooth and seems erratic. I hope that's not the same one used in the actual game.

            Actually the quick jumper is still there for certain players not everybody. just take troy murphy into a practice session or a 3 piont contest and quickly flick the stick or tap the shot button and he'll do his second shot animation. i like how only certain players have this ability and honestly i dont find anything wrong with the shooting in this game. just go to practice and youll see that release point still DO matter. oh about those shot release times.... i love playing with the mavs but man Shawn Marion is just.... wow I cant stand him lol its gon be some driving and kicking till i can get his shot down pat haha

              theres some player animations regardless of how long u hold on to shot stick or button they will have a perfect release while others u really have to time it correctly to get a perfect release

                Most of the releases are very quick. Disregard the perfect release thing, Most of my shots go in on early bad release.

                  Please do not disregard the shot release.

                  When the momentum is against a team, a perfect or great release is needed to drain almost any jump shot.

                      So 6 pages and we still don't know exactly what's going on with the animations vs shot timing...is there a dev around who can tell us?

                        When I first read this thread, I immediately had the idea of why this was done. I'm not sure about the 360 last year, but the lag was so bad on the ps3, it was difficult sometimes to get the timing right on the jumpers. My timing was so screwed because some games were less laggy than others. I think they did the automatic release in order to counter the lag that they have on the online games. I finally played my first full game online last night and I know you guys will hate this but I actually liked not having to figure out the timing online. But at the same time, I can understand where you guys are coming from as well. Offline, I would rather determine the release of my own shot.
