Re: Gamespot Review: 7.0? (less than Madden? LMAO)

Methinks the reviewer played on the default settings. Most reviewers do I think. And while that is the correct approach in most games, it does not work in sports titles. The reviewer makes it sound as if 2k10 is a arcade style game with dunks on every play. Even claims that 2k10 is all about the perimeter play and no strategy. That is horribly wrong. I can not stress enough how wrong that is.

Many of the gripes I agree with, although I have yet to encounter any framerate issues. But this game does have a large number of bugs, which is inexcusable.

Enough with the talk of the patch. Developers are supposed to release the game as a final product. Patches are should be only meant for fine tuning, not to make the game playable.

I could agree with the score, but the review as a whole is bad.

Actually, "out of the box" this game is practically an arcade game. Tons of points in the paint, ridiculously high FG%s (I'm talking high 50s to low 60s). The game is practically unplayable online as a result of this. With proper slider tweaks, this is a very good basketball game. Let's hope 2K can fix a lot of the issues most are having with the game via patch or I have a feeling many will be going to the other side.

I have to agree with you..and this is comming from someone who is a 2K basketball diehard..This is the first year that I am not feeling this game..To me it has strayed away from sim and realism and has become a tad bit more arcade and casual..The flow of the games just don't seem righ to me...I am not seeing CPU drive to the lane, there are still too many cheap backdoor cuts and points in the paint..and defense has been dumbed down..I miss the little things that 2K was known for hard fouls, physicality in the paint, realistic team simulation game play..etc..it seems like this titile was rushed and I truly am only seeing a minimal upgrade...maybe patches will fix this but I am def not feeling this game..By the way I think Live is worse..so there ya go..a 7 is about right maybe a 7.5 8 with gameplay patches...

But that is what is so difficult about rating sports titles. I can not remember the last sports title I played where I didn't have to alter the sliders. With the sliders I use I get very sim like stats with 12 minute quarters. Even though the review came out over a week after the game came out, the review feels kinda rushed.

I can see how the default settings render online play to a arcade style game, but I never play online so its a non factor for me.

But no game should be released with this many bugs. A game is to be released when it is completed, not released as a beta.

I can say that NBA2K made a big step forward in presentation... but a big step back gameplay wise... and it should be about the gameplay.. and not about the eye candy... I now understand why 2K Sports didn't release any gameplay videos.. and just did teasers.. the gameplay sucks out of the box... Framerate issues galore... Playing and owning both nba live 10 and nba 2k10.. I have to say as of right now nba live 10 has won this years war, and I didn't even enjoy live much either... this is coming from a die hard nba2k fan... hopefully with patch's, and slider tweaks.. it will make the game a more enjoyable experience.

P.S. : Has anyone seem the glitch fest when Hedo takes a free throw... its disgusting... wish I could post a youtube video of it.. this is the type of sloppiness that killed the MLB2K series. This is 2K flagship sports franchise I really can't believe it... do they have monkeys beta testing this game? hopefully next year the game will be better, and that they actually show gameplay to prove the doubters wrong.

Yeah and any game that is unplayable online(Lets face it, the majority of the people play here), deserves no higher than a 7. Even the only mode that I can like(association mode), has bugs. Only way to make this game playable online is to have a league with a million rules.

I think a 7 is about right, it feels that it was rushed for sure...but live has been gawd awful for so long... its about time they did improve... but we can only hope they maybe come out with a NBA 2K10 2.0 lol.. ah well.

Would have been interesting to see Brian Ekberg review the game but he only seems to preview sports games.

Madden has twice as many glitches, its been 2 months since that game came out and patch 2 that supposed to fix gameplay hasn't come out yet. With the problems 2k10 have, its nothing compared to Madden. Most of all, nba 2k10 follows the basic concept and fundamentals of what basketball is. Madden doesnt ...
