I think its a fair rating. If you do the review of this game pre patch this game is a mess. The framerate, freezing, bad defensive ai, laggy team up, the same bad offensive engine geared to be more powerful then defense etc....

I think the 7 rating is actually generous. Im suprised the other sites did not touch more on the many bugs and problems this game has.

Gamespot does not suck at game reviewing..they are probably the most relaible out there..surely better then IGN's iffy crap.

Are you just pissed that 2k10 just got outscored by the "other" game at Gamespot? Lets face facts... the "other" game is the better game this year, 2k did a crap effort with 2k10 this year..infact they hardly did ANYTHING to the damn game and with framerate issues two years in a row is proof of that or how the pc version still has no ball bouncing sound on the courts for the 2nd year in a row is living proof that 2k tried to slap a 2k10 label on a 2k9 game

I know the recession is bad and all but man..2k get your act together..your product this year is miserable.Spend a bit more on R&D for crying out loud. What? Did you guys have two people working on 2k10 this year or what? And start interacting with the forumers in here ..geezus

And you 2k fanboys need to stop drinking VC Koolaid..just face facts..2k10 was a terrible effort this year. There are far too many issues with this game "out the box" that sliders cant fix..sorry guys but i jumped ship this year and im quite happy with that "other" game this year.

Its not the score. It was just a pretty simple review. Riveting journalism it was not. I think people that are calling for realism are just heartened that a gamespot reviewer who represents the casual of casual gamers said that the game was too arcadish.

But lets be honest its no more arcadish than 2k9. As a matter of fact I strongly disagree with anyone who says there werent many core gameplay improvements. The problem is those many improvements are covered with a sheen of illthought offensive sliders. Thats why many will still argue that its the best hoops game ever made. 2k10 with good sliders is a great game while 2k9 with a slider overhaul didnt really feel much better than 2k8. So I get why people are questioning the review even though I dont have a problem with the score.

I just believe the level of quality control has gone down to the standard of MLB2K series... a game of this stature, shouldn't of came out with all these issues out of the box.. sadly I had to put the game down because of the framerate issue, freezes, even playing defense is frustrating.. I feel at times the computer is moving the player I am controling with "suction" ... I find it almost unplayable.. the in game presentation is top notch, and nba today is awesome. I find isomotion really broken this year. I really love the controls of the "other game" compared to 2k10.. hope they do something similar next year. Who ever says gameplay is better this year, is nuts. It does have it's positives but alot more negatives for sure. I think a 7 is generous. Face it people the "other game" is better this year. I am not even sure this MAJOR PATCH will fix most of these issues.. time will tell. 2K has let us down majorly this year.. sad really.

I really only have 2 issues with 2K10. The Help defense with the game set to defaults and I cant make pressure adjustments on the flyor during timeouts in multiplayer games without having to pause the game.

That said, with the my player mode, the commentary, NBA today, general gameplay, This game is the best basketball game and possibly best sports game of the year. Its the most complete feature wise.

I have to LOL at gamespot using bugs as a excuse to give a low score but Madden has MORE bugs and problems even after a patch than 2K10 does, but it gets a higher score......LOL.

I am loving 2k10, having a great time with it and can't wait for a patch to come out so it can be so much better. I haven't gone around complaining about every little or big glitch/bug this game has, but with saying that...the punishment fits the crime. Over all I think its better than the 7 rating, but for the simple fact that the game was released with so many bugs that really hurt the game play on and off line, they deserve a low score just for that. I know Ron isn't a game designer and wish other 2k guys were around more to maybe answer questions or take some of the heat that he's taking. I would really like a Q&A with some of the game designers and testers though, some of these things just seem like they shouldn't have gotten past people who get paid to do this for a living. I know many games come with bugs and glitches..no game is perfect..personally im not concerned with those games right now. I like 2k sports games and when your fighting hard and loosing games NFL and College Hoops you really need to bring as close to your "A" game as you can when you present your biggest game to the public. Just my opinion on it

Don't let site reviews dictate your opinion on games. I liked NHL 2k10 but it got a low score. Just play both games and see which you like more. I like both but lean towards 2k because of presentation and immersiveness. And stop trying to defend this game. You did not create it so you can't take credit for it in any area over the other game. Both games play well this year. Just be happy to be a basketball fan with a choice unlike an NFL fan.

You need to get out of here with this nonsense. You do in the Madden forums and now you're doing it here. Your opinion does not equal a fact. You need to learn that one day. And I hardly doubt today will be the day, since you've been doing this for quite a while.

As for the review... the best way I can equate this is to the Marvel UA2 review made by GameTrailers. Here's where I think this review was poorly done:

The reviewer did not really give any sort of credence to the multiple inclusions this year even with the "bugs" and "glitches" many are claiming. One thing, if you're a reviewer, you should do is offer to the reading public how the game would be shaped if the company had cleaned up those little things. In GT's trailer, they raved about M:UA2 but held the score back because of little glitches that pop up here and there.

If a patch comes out and rectifies these problems, then the original review is no longer valid.

The games that we purchase today are no longer static; they change over the time of owning them. My experience with CoD on the day I purchase is different than the day they fix problems that crop up over my game experience. No different here.

Had I been explained all the new additions (MyPlayer, revamped Association, NBA Today, all-new post game, etc.) while being told about bugs they encountered while playing the game... and how these things hamper the game and that's why the score is the way it is... you'd have a different story.

Can't help but feel like 2k is to blame for this, why is this game so full of bugs, Live isn't, sure it's crap compared to 2k but it's bug free and playable (no frame rate issues).

2k needs to release a better product out of the box, they should learn a lesson from this, of course they won't because they would have learned it last year, plus they need to have more guts and release more of a simulation than an arcade (less fg% and alley-ups).

I've heard all excuses when it comes to bugged games, we didn't have time to sort them all out, we would have lost more money if the game was delayed than if we released this half-product, bla,bla,bla.
