I've played it on all difficulty levels. The fact remains that I can just turbo to the paint and dunk or lay it up whenever I wish. Calling plays is pretty much useless. It's fun to try to use them, but they just aren't integrated very well into the game this year (or for that matter, any year).

How can anyone who knows basketball take this guy and his review seriously? I mean too contend that live 10 is more sim than 2k10 is just rubbish. 2k10 have no excuse for having the gameplay so bad out of the box but the sliders do mitigate that problem. That's why sliders are made in the first place.
Any ball game that has no post game is no sim. End of story. You get all these players claiming to be sim ballers and playing the 'realistic' live 10 with just a perimeter game? I tried live 10 and its fun initially but you realize after that it is still very shallow. If Live can get a post game going then next year will be very interesting. But I can't help but feel VC will step up next year as well.Comment

Guys this is just 1 person's opinion. I went to their site and they gave NBA Live a 7.5 for each of the past 3 years. Personally I don't care for Live 10's gameplay but it is certainly better than 08 and 09, but it has received the same 7.5 rating. As far as 2k10 look at gamespot's user score, 8.7 out of 398 voters. Re: Gamespot Review: 7.0? (less than Madden? LMAO)
I agree with this review 100%. I wish I didn't, but I do.
How can anyone defend this game as a sim? I mean I know it does some things well, but let's not confuse looking like a sim with playing like a sim.
On any level, it's way too easy to get into the paint. Way too easy. I could run a pick-and-roll against the CPU and score every single time. It's a joke. Jump shooting is absolutely horrible. The quick releases that every single player has completely negate the whole point of signature shots. There's no mid-range game.
And if all that wasn't bad enough, player control in 2K10 has to be the worst in any sports game, EVER. It's so damn herky-jerky that this game has almost become unplayable for me.
It's a shame, because the game does some things really well. The post game is outstanding. The CPU does an outstanding job at finding the open man, especially when driving and dishing. The graphics and presentation might be the best of any sports game. And the NBA Today/Association Mode is ridiculously addictive. And it's because of these features that I'm trying like hell to love this game.
But, there are just way too many issues for me to be able to enjoy this game right now.Comment

I don't understand why so many people have to defend their sports titles as if they are family members. I mean judging by your sig, it's not like you're biased or anything.
To me, a user score that high simply means that to the "casual" sports gamer, this game is great because it looks amazing, and you can run up and down the floor all day performing acrobatic, highlight style dunks.
I mean for me, I look at all of these highlights that people are uploading, and I am simply amazed. Then I play the game, and feel completely unsatisfied.
Hopefully, the big patch that they roll out will allow me to enjoy this game.Comment

Re: Gamespot Review: 7.0? (less than Madden? LMAO)
"Out of the box", the game comes with sliders. This shouldn't be an issue. The bottom line is that you can get a sim game using them. If you don't, it's on you the gamer. That said, I don't mind the score. I just don't like the way the review marginalized some of the game's biggest strengths.
From an overall video game perspective, this is high crime, and that's what gets reviewed. Glitches, bugs, broken servers, broken mechanics, a rotten framerate and bad AI plague this game.
I didnt get to really elaborate because I posted from my phone.
First off, let me say....little of my problem with 2k10 has to do with the core gameplay...some, but little. I still think its a great game. Its those glitches man....all over every mode...I dont know if I got a "lucky" copy, or if its b\c I spent alot of time in the blacktop...but ive had the CRAZIEST stuff happen lately that just shouldnt have made it past testing...When you cant some use game features effectively b\c of glitches, you have to be dinged for it. I can respect that.Comment

Ha! Well said.
You can't use sliders in My Player and ranked games. 2k10 is only good for people who are going to tweak their sliders and only play their friends or Association.. If you want to get the ranked achievements, you have to play the game that deserved a 7. If you want to play My Player, you have to play the game that deserved a 7. If you want to go online, the servers are broken.

Yup.
If in a review of Madden/Live/The Show/NHL/MLB2K, the reviewer states that adjustments to some sliders will make the game better (which the reviewers do in many cases), isn't it only fair for that to apply to NBA2K10? You arguably customize this game more than any sports game on the market and it isn't even acknowledged.
This game should be more balanced out of the box, we're in complete agreement there. It should be docked for that. The other side to that equation shouldn't be ignored (neither should The Association, new tendecies, and the commentary).
I also agree with you on the bugs, glitches, and servers. Unacceptable. I went ape**** when the game froze on me the 2nd time. However, the review really doesn't emcompass the big picture of the game. Hell, I learned more in some of these impression threads than that review."Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."Comment

Re: Gamespot Review: 7.0? (less than Madden? LMAO)
The thing that makes this review seem weird/off is that just about every other website and every other fan that reviewed this game rated it MUCH higher. I think it should be clear to anyone that acually read the review that the guy who wrote it didn't play the game very much at all. 2k10 is not a game that you can play for an hour and see all the things the game has to offer.Comment

Re: Gamespot Review: 7.0? (less than Madden? LMAO)
Because madden is an incredibly buggy/broken sports game that got a great score. But, of course, it's madden so it always gets a high score. This is why you should never base your purchases on the reviews of videogame websites.Comment

I also completely agree. Unfortunatly being a raptors fan the ACC is one of the arenas that lags baaaaad. When I'm playing a game elsewhere with slider tweaks nba2k is easily a 9 IMO. And as far as complaining about changing sliders, that's a big reason why there is a thing called 2k share. Honestly it takes 2 seconds people.2016 NLL Champion Saskatchewan Rush
