Good review game looks awesome. Clearly I'm the only person who's not going crazy over the Jordan mode. I wish they would have spent more time on My Player ,but it's hard to complain about a game that gets a 9.5.

the reviewer kept complaining that Kobe's model was off...2k's Kobe is very accurate. he was also complaining that the CPU was too good at tipping passes - he's wrong about that...2k11 nailed the passing defense...the reviewer seemed like he expected every dumb pass he threw to get there cleanly...like he expects the CPU to just stand there and let dumb passes whiz by them...

No one game should have all this power...

Great job with the 9.5 2k

well...it will be interesing to see how Elite can justify going in a more "casual" direction when 2k just got a 9.5 by going the sim direction. EA stated that they revamped their direction because they wanted their game to score above a 9...well, 2k did it by sticking to their sim roots. 2k just proved that "casual" is clearly not the way to a 9+ rating.

i just hope 2k doesn't listen to this dumb IGN reviewer by making the passing easier next year...the reviewer is clearly a casual cheeser who wants to launch the ball down court or pass into the paint to get easy dunks on every play. don't listen to this guy, 2k...the passing defense is fine...it's the way it should be.

lol 9.5 is just nice? 9.5 for a basketball game is like an 11 for normal games. Ultimately the only review I care about is my own, but the good vibes just keep coming in regards this game.

                  Re: NBA 2K11 IGN Review

it's kinda interesting how review scores work..

Live 10 was still bad but overpraised and over-scored because it was such a big improvement.

It seems like improvement is what these game reviewers are really scoring.. how much better is it than other games like it or than previous incarnations of a series?

For instance, I doubt 2K12 will be a worse game than 2K11, but I'm sure it won't get a 9.5.. I think no matter what they did next year, they're looking at an 8 max..

If you make a HUGE leap, you need to keep making HUGE leaps to get reviewed high..

Kind of like company profits.. your stock may go up if you have an insanely profitable year after a down year.. but even if you maintain that profit level, analysts dont see you 'growing' and you start getting downrated and sold off..

Kinda sad.. 2K12 is bound to be a 'come down' in many ways even if as a game it's better.

I really hope the 2K devs don't succumb to this complaint about the passing being too hard. I love that smart passing is actually worth something, and stupid passes are punished. In the past, stupid passes (just pass to the player underneath the hoops, who cares if he's covered by two defenders) were rewarded and smart passing was meaningless. The PIP has been reduced significantly due to the elimination of the ridiculous effective lead pass, and I'm loving it!

Now to take the game to the next level, defensive movement and jumping should be a priority (offense is already awesome). This means:

                          • Better help defense (2K11 saw a big improvement with this, but there's more to be done). Weakside help is still too slow to react.
                          • More shot blocking and stripping from help defenders, especially in the paint.
                          • Better rebounding and shot blocking physics or animations. No more of this big men skying for rebounds and block shots. There needs to be variance degrees in which small and big players jump for blocks and rebounds (just as it is now with dunking and jump shooting).
                          • Realistic movement on defense. This means less sliding on lateral movement, less height on jumping when contesting a jump shot (when you're backpedaling and on your heels, you just don't jump as high as the offensive player that's moving forward). This also means that perimeter defenders should not stick too close to their man (guarding the drive is more important than guarding the pull up jumper).

As I said, the offense is already beautiful with so many animations at your disposal to attack the defense. Upgrading the defense would inch this game closer to sim perfection (as far as gameplay). Success for the users should be based on strategy (your basketball IQ, knowledge of your team and your opponents, players tendency and skills), and not based on your stick skills. You obviously still need the stick skills to execute certain moves, but the execution should be as easily and as seamlessly as possible.

Come on 2K, work on DEFENSE!

Don't care too much about reviews but this is good for 2K brand.

The wait for this game has become unbearable!!!
