The AI is relentless, and will punish you with miss matches. I've mainly played on the Pro with the Simulation mode, and they're no punish over. They'll beat you easily if you don't play team ball.

This year, you absolutely have to run plays, and try to mimic how the team plays in real life in order to win games.

I've bounced around between Real Player %, and Shot Stick Timing, and I'm not not set on one mode yet. I will say "Shot Timing" feels more natural, and you need to increase the shooting sliders for Real Player % to be realistic, or you'll experience very low FG%, and scores. I need to up the quarter minutes, and play around with this more. The upside of Real Player % is not having to master the shot timings.

The game has the beat And1's I've ever seen. Extremely realistic. Off the ball calls here (moving screens, over the backs, etc).

I do miss the ability to walk the ball up the court, and in half court sets, because it can get a little tricky at times getting to the right spots to start a play when it's called, but this is a minor issue. I think I'm starting to notice that play will start to develop as long as your close to spot marker.

To nitpick a few other things, the AI does seem like it has the telepathic ability to deflect, and steal the ball, and fast breaks seem rare, but these things should be fixable via sliders.

NBA2K11 is easily the best, and more realistic bball game to day. It's not even close.

Look forward to seeing what peeps do with sliders to make the game close to perfect as possible.
I would be willing to bet that about 75% of the league (or more) doesn't run plays maybe half their trips down the floor.

If you understand basketball, spacing, using screens, and looking for slashers/poppers, is calling plays essential?

Agreed with the whole "you have to run plays" thing.

Unfortunately that isn't necessarily a good thing. Seems that otherwise you are screwed on offense and left to ISO your way to baskets. If a play breaks down, you're on your own.

        Sounds like real life.

          A little bit.

But there is some logic missing when you pick up your dribble.

Agreed. I run plays for about 80% of my possessions. I also like that My Player mode is a lot harder. I'm not sure if it is because my guy is so bad or what, but I like that you can't just drive and dunk and lay up from baseline at will. As of right now I am enjoying the My Player mode and I have even more modes to play. This game is so deep it isn't even funny.

Turn auto plays on. Then your team is running a play. You can run a different play if you want.

I don't know what people are talking about with "it's hard to score." No matter the skill level and mode (generally I play on Superstar Sim) the CPU and my team both shoot over 60%. Scores in a 12 minute quarter game are in the 130's and higher.

As for presentation, it's nice, but I've already turned off the commentary. In an association prepare to hear the same personal stories about your players game after game, sometimes the same story multiple times in a game.

There are also instances of commentary gushing over a player when it doesn't fit. For example some bench center who plays half a minute a game and averages .2 rebounds per game grabs one rebound. The announcers gush about his rebounding prowess saying something like "that's what he does, that's why he's known around the league as a premier rebounder".

Try this one. Create a player with high ratings. Sim a few years in an association with him leading the team, or even league, in scoring. Yet when you play a game he won't be mentioned in the intro. It's still some other guy's team, someone else featured even though the created player is the key man on the team.

Was hoping that would be fixed from 2k10. Oh well...

Has anyone noticed that when changing the settings from default to Simulation that the settings are all at 50????

I have my settings set to my profile but for some odd reason if cut my system of and come back and play the default settings always come up even though it says Simulation.

i played only one challenge and its the double nickel game against the Knicks....i created 4 players for the Knicks bench Bonner, Anthony, Davis and Smith

i refuse to play the rest of the games until i have a decent amount of bench created so i wont have any generic coming off the bench...

if you guys want the created players my 360 tag is Boff2kx as i will be working on the missing bench players with the help of Portlandblazers..

i have half of Boston and Detroit done i will be adding more later... this is a real tedious task LOL...

NOTE: i only changed the the attributes and didnt bother with the tendencies since they have some new ones...im just providing the CAPS and Portlanblazer will be d/l them as well to adjust the tendencies and maybe the players looks...

NOTE2: i tried uploading Anthony Bonner from the Knicks but it turns out Bonner is a little to close to Boner...so you guys may need to just create him yourselves...

                              Re: Official NBA2k11 Impressions Thread

Just got my copy of the game last night! Wow, this is awesome its even better and smoother the the demo. The actual game is alot closer to perfect with the transition game though its still really difficult pull off fastbreaks.

No more dumb passes, if you are throwing the ball you better know where its going.

My only gripe so far is the responsiveness of the getting into a shot after a pass. there was multiple occasions where i would make a great pass, my player would be wide open, and i guess maybe i pressed the shot stick too early(?)... not sure what it is but he wouldnt start the shooting motion after the pass, and id have to release the shot stick then press the shot stick again to start the motion, by which time the defense had already arrived. It was very annoying and would happen on layups and fastbreaks too but i guess its a matter of getting down the new timing.

Another thing is the dunks... i was playing against lebron and he did some FANTASTIC dunks. however, on other occasions there were dunks that looked kinda silly. there are times where ray allen, or allen iverson did a spin hopstep dunk and then did an animation where they hang on the rim. The Dunk wasnt cheesy, just badly animated and its pretty common. When gaurds do it it looks awkward because it looks like the animation for a big guy

The game this year is definitely more strategic. Unless you have talent, you cannot just keep all the coaching setting to Auto. You have to make adjustments or your going to get burnt.
