Unfortunately that isn't necessarily a good thing. Seems that otherwise you are screwed on offense and left to ISO your way to baskets. If a play breaks down, you're on your own.
Did they remove the "auto movement" they introduced in '09 or '10? Even when you didn't run plays there was constant motion. Slow, but players still tried to get open and such.
Shout out to The Watcher! Where you at bruh?

I've got a question guys. I've had game for a few days and love it! Best bball game ever made.

Now, when calling for a pick and roll. The guy who sets the pick will have a little icon pop up with the little arrows or whatever pop up. What does that do for me? How can I command him? I'm so lost on what to do with this. I'm on 360.

The classic teams are what I have played so far. I really hope they add more teams like the Hakeem Rockets and I was surprised they did not have Vinnie Johnson unless I missed him.I just hope they add more classic teams

My score for Madden 13: 4.5/10

3 points for graphics, 1 point for the passable commentary, and a half point for the boxart. I can give no further points since the all over the place gameplay would ruin it anyway.

it means they are going to pop instead of roll to the basket. If you let go of L1 before he sets the pick he will roll but if you hold it until they set it then the little icon will come up. If it comes up you can still make them roll to the basket by tapping L1 again

But there is some logic missing when you pick up your dribble.
Yeah I agree, when you pick up your dribble their should be an option for you to call somebody to the ball. This is where many turnovers will occur because you will have to make a pass to the player closest to you and they might not be so close which will result in a steal by the CPU.

                        Re: Official NBA2k11 Impressions Thread

OK some inital impressions from someone who is not good at this game..

I'm playing on Pro Simulation, 12 minute quarters, and I'm getting killed. I've played about 10 games now and have definitely improved though. My problem is I just can't score more than 20 points in a quarter. If I shoot 50% in a quarter it's basically a miracle. Part of my problem is an inability to get good open looks and part of the problem is getting down the shot stick timing.

Earlier I had some concerns that the offense doesn't move and try to get open enough. After getting better with the controls I think it's fine and it's really rewarding to execute a play correctly and get an open look and drain a jumper. I do think you need to have a play called almost at all times except if you're taking a chance in transition. It has helped me to go into practice mode and run plays and find some I like and see all the possible options for that play.

The game really requires you to play smart basketball even on the Pro level. The CPU will jump in front of passes and you can't just wing the ball around the court. The CPU defense is pretty tough IMO...they block a lot of shots down low if you drive with a little man and play iso defense pretty well for the most part. They don't hesitate to double team your big scorers either. The Spurs hounded me and Kevin Durant in my last game.

I played a string of games where the CPU borderline abused long outlet passes/full court passes and fast breaked me to death. But in other games it's been non existant. I figure it probably had something to do with defensive and offensive settings for both teams as well as my total incompetence on offense.

There is a bug where you can't see the names of plays called after a few minutes into the game which really sucks. I saw it on Czar's video too so I figure it happens to everyone.

Overall a very deep game. Gonna take a long time to master the controls. Can't really find any major faults with any of the gameplay which is most important to me. Some of the animations are so nice...just gotta figure out how to trigger them on demand.

Well, you can pull up the player icons and player lock on a guy and manually get him open. It takes a while to get used to, but that's what I have been doing and it's worked okay.

Yeah true but that's an option I never really cared for though. But with the new tendencies option you can change things for each player like how often the set screens and etc so that'll get the offense moving as well.

damn, is it really that difficult to make field goals this year?! just played my first game on pro, simulation. I was the Lakers vs clippers. I lost by 9 pts and only shot 27% as a team. I don't remember it being this difficult last year.

in this situation you can usually use icon lead pass to make a receiver "come toward you" as you pass the ball...2k also has a new feature called "total control passing" that must be turned on in the options (it is turned off by default)...this total control passing allows you to hold down the corresponding pass icon button, take control of the offball player, move him around, and then release the button to pass to him...so 2k did include ways to deal with this.
