Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
If you're controlling all 30 teams, what's the best logic you would use in the off season as far as re-signings and offers? It seems like when the re-signing period starts, whatever the automatic offer is, it'll be good enough to re-sign anybody. So, how do I make it challenging? I'm not exactly an expert on knowing who or who doesn't deserve a big contract so the 2011 offseason wasn't really an 'exciting' one.
Plus, do you allow "trade override" and/or" cpu trades" on or off?
If there's a high profile player that's stuck on a middling team, I usually look at how that team performed during the season/in the playoffs, Take Chris Paul for example. The Hornets made the playoffs during his contract year, but got swept out of the first round. He would have accepted an offer to stay with the team had I offered it as he didn't want to test free agency. But I tried to think of it as CP3 may not want to stay in NO if they're not winning, so I didn't let NO offer him.
If you're controlling all 30 teams, trade override doesn't matter. Pretty sure it's the same with CPU trades, but I always leave that one off just in case.Comment

As far as resigning goes, the game somewhat takes care of some of that because some guys will opt for Free Agency instead of resigning... But for some of the other FA, I just sign them to a team that has cap room, and a need at that position. ie- This past offseason, I signed Michael Beasley to the Bobcats because they needed a SF, and had some decent cap room.
Cavs (me) gave JJ Hickson a max deal, but, I made offers from other teams. He took the max deal thankfullyComment

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
Just finished the first year of my celtics association, won the championship in 5 games against the spurs. I got some very interesting offers during the draft:
1. Glen davis and 2012 1st rounder for 7th pick (drafted derrick williams)
2. Shaq for the 11th pick and beno udrih (11th pick became enes kanter, he dropped like 5 spots to the 11th spot)
3. avery bradley for the 18th pick ( drafted Lucas Nogueira, athletic big man out of Brazil, wanna make him a defense stalwart)
My rotation before free agency
PG: Rondo/Udrih
SG: Allen
SF: Pierce/Julian wright
PF: Derrick Williams/KG
C: J.Oneal/ Kanter/ Nogueira
This will basically be the team i go to battle with to try to repeat (plus jeff green, he's a restricted free agent)Comment

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
I started up a 29 game association (I know, I know...) awhile ago with the Thunder. Playing 8 min quarters on All-Star with some slider adjustments Kept the team in tact as it was with a roster file I downloaded in December.
The Thunder went 23-6 in the regular season, Durant averaged 25.7 points per game, Westbrook averaged 16.9 with 9.8 assists. Nabbed the #1 seed in the Western Conference.
The West looked pretty good as the Nuggets, Lakers, Mavs, Suns, Blazers, Grizzlies, and Jazz rounded out the seeds. In the East, it was a chaotic mess. The Heat got the #1 seed and the Magic got the #2. After that, all hell broke loose as the Raptors had the #3, followed by the Pacers, Nets, Bulls, Cavaliers, and Bucks (EWWW).
The playoffs are a 5-5-5-5 format. I swept the Jazz, knocked out the Mavs 3-1, followed by the Lakers 3-1. I've definitely had my fair share of close games as Game 1 against Utah went into Overtime and I nearly blew it with missed free throws. I closed out the Lakers in Game 4 with Durant and Westbrook, as they both went on a tear to end the game. Durant has been averaging 24 points in the playoffs while Westbrook has stepped up his game from the regular season and is averaging 20 points and 10 assists.
The East...smh. The Heat and Magic advanced past the first round easily, but the Heat lost in 4 games to the Nets, while the Magic got swept by the Raptors (WTF). So yes...your Eastern Conference Finals featured the Nets vs the Raptors, with their rosters featuring essentially the same players as on the default file. The Raptors advanced in 5 games to have the right to face off against the #1 overall seed, the Oklahoma City Thunder.
I havent finished the series yet, but the first two games have been ugly. Won both games at home by 15+ points to go up 2-0 in the series. Hopefully I'll close them out on the road in the next game and win a championship.
Quick update on my Knicks. I was just facing the Wizards(who are actually good this year). Rookie Tyler Honeycutt dropped 27 points on me smh. But the game was a offensive showcase. CP3 got hurt coming down for off a rebound. But I ended up winning by 1 point, despite 2 missed FT's from Melo down the stretch -_-
CP3 has a severe left ankle sprain, should be out 2-4 weeks. Time to move my backup PG Patrick Beverly to start at the 1 and I signed Anthony Carter to play a few backup minutes during Paul's absence. Were currently 6-2.Last edited by AllStarDaDon; 05-15-2011, 12:45 AM.Add me om PSN for a good game of basketball!

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
just started a new association to rebuild the wizards with no kind of cheating or pre-editing and only realistic trades...
i know a lot about the nba but i dont follow the wizards but i cant stand john wall and hes got max trade value so i got rid of him.... but after some legit trades before the season started i came up with an actually suprisingly good squad....
PG: Brandon Jennings / Sebastian Telfair
SG: Nick Young / Sefalosha
SF: Danilo Galinari / Martell Webster / Cartier Martin
PF: Kevin Love / Trevor Booker
C: Kendrick Perkins / Chris Anderson / Mozgov
and i got 3 1st round picks this year..."...our fans aren't stupid like Cubs fans." -OzzieComment

My rotation after Free Agency:
Pg: Rondo/Udrih
SG: Pierce/Allen/L. Hughes
SF: Green/Pierce/Wright
PF: D. Williams/KG
C: J.oneal/Kanter/Nogueira
I figure this way my young up and comers will be able to progress better due to higher minutes, and it lowers the chance of injury to the big 3. Rotation will probably go back to how it was last year come playoff time (unless green impresses me that much, then i might start KG and just keep allen on the bench)Last edited by RajonRondo9Celtics; 05-15-2011, 10:41 AM.Comment

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
I just had the best damn game since I bought 2k11 in my Knicks association. I was facing the Magic and this was my first time playing since CP3's injury. So CP3's replacement Patrick Beverly(from the D-League) played good, he had a Jeff Teague type performance with 16 points 7 assist and 5 steal. Bad part is 10 TO's, that's mainly because I tried to many bad alley oop attempts on the break.
So it was a defensive game the whole time, who ever was playing harder on D was leading, I started off as the better defensive team so I had the lead. Then the Magic started hitting their 3's which had spread the floor for them. They got a bit hot offensively, our defensive failures started to translate into bad offense for us. So we were down by 12, then Jameer Nelson broke his wristThen we started D'ing up again and made a comeback with a 3 point lead. Early in the 3rd Melo hurt his shooting wrist also
But he came back on the court, the injured wrist played a major part he was bricking everything he put up. So I had to play through Bill Walker, STAT and Patrick Beverly. Fast forward to the 4th, Magic was getting quality shots in the paint, our inside D completely collapsed. So we ended being down by like 7. Amare had this amazing play where he blocked Dwight on the defensive end, then sprinted up the court to receive a oop. but then Melo came in and hit 2 cluch three pointers. So were were down by 1. Pat Bev had a another TO so I took him out and put in Anthony Carter. We had a defensive stop and it was our ball with 7 seconds left. Instead of calling a timeout I deiced to keep it in mode. Melo got doubled team and I ended up shooting the last shot with Carter. -____________- So we lost by 1, lmaoo Melo looked like he was crying. 91-90 Magic.
So Melo will be playing with a injured wrist for about 2 weeks, CP3 is still gonna be out for about 2 more weeks. Pat Bev could his own at PG, I just gotta limit the turnover. Especially against our next opponent the Miami Heat.Last edited by AllStarDaDon; 05-15-2011, 11:25 AM.Add me om PSN for a good game of basketball!

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
The lowest TV audience is league history saw the Thunder knock off the Raptors in Game 3. It really wasn't close either. Westbrook won Finals MVP, but a strong case could have been made for Durant as well. Both played outstanding.
I seriously cant believe all those sorry a$$ East teams made the playoffs, and not only that, the NETS and the RAPTORS were in the ECF. Never doing a 29 game season again....
In off-season news, I re-signed Jeff Green, but then traded him to the Golden State Warriors for a first and second round pick. The Warriors were 5th in the lottery, and after I got the pick it ended up being the #2 overall pick!! I nabbed Jared Sullinger
Made a few more trades and aquired Kemba Walker, Nicolas Batum, foreign prospect Jonas V (who is a goooood mid-range shooting big) and signed Spencer Hawes in Free Agency. My team is looking real good for a repeat run.
PG: Russell Westbrook / Kemba Walker
SG: Thabo Sefalosha / James Harden / DeQuan Cook
SF: Kevin Durant / Nicolas Batum / Peja Stojakevic
PF: Jared Sullinger / Jonas Valanciunas
C: Serge Ibaka / Spencer HawesBengals

If someone seems to be regressing in performance from previous years, but still think they deserve a large contract, I'll usually let them walk. I do make exceptions for that for guys like Duncan who fall off, but are likely stay with their team until they're finished.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
Haha thanks man. I played that game against the Heat a hour or 2 ago. We got beat, got beaten badly. I shutdown LeBron first quarter, the only offense they had was dunks by Wade on fastbreaks(I couldn't stop it, Wade was cheesing like a mofo) Then mid 2nd quarter the heat went on a big, big run. Possibly the biggest run I ever faced in 2k. 3rd quarter, we lessened the deficit to about 11. WE stayed losing by 11 till late in the 4th, STAT had 42 points, Melo had 37, Wade had 43 and LeBron had 36. We ended loosing by like 14.Add me om PSN for a good game of basketball!

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
Recently made the switch to the Purist's Sliders from All-Star Simulation. My first game was against the Heat with my rebuilt Bucks:
1-Brandon Jennings
2-JR Smith
3-Gerald Wallace
4-Larry Sanders
5-Andrew Bogut
6th Man-Ronnie Brewer
At one point I was down by 22 but after a 40 point 4th quarter, I lost by two. It was a crazy game where I couldn't get anything going and they could. Finally in the 4th I was just on, I was getting Smith, Wallace, and Brewer to the basket with ease. Jennings was money with his passes. With less than three seconds left I dished the ball to Smith, pump fake getting the defender off his feet, then get the yips and oddly shoot double clutching the right stick. So pissed. I know I would have won if I made it to OT.
Currently I have a 9-12 record putting me at 9th in the East. And Bogut is hurt. My strength off the wing needs to compensate for my lack of bigs. We'll see. Here come the Rockets and Yao.
Also, once Bogut is healthy, how can I use him? I have no problem with boards and defensive play, but I cannot score consistently for the life of me. Thanks in advance.Last edited by DoubleIt5; 05-15-2011, 10:12 PM.Comment
