Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
How does everyone play their Associations? I'm a sim-head and wants stats to be right, so real pro sliders with 12 min quarters is what I use. But I cannot at all imagine playing 82 games with 12 minute quarters. If you played 2-3 games a day, it'd still take about a real time month of playing to reach the end of a season. That's just a bit too much for me.
I'm thinking of maybe playing about 10 games a month, but simming the rest of the games in that month. How do you all do it?Comment

I'm finally about to go pick this up after I get off but what system do you all suggest? 360 or PS3?
I'm going to start my Association with the Sixers...Welcome Melo!!!! haha! Wish me luck with that...doubt it will go down but I def try.
Are many of you playing on sliders? how many minute quarters to get realistic stats?Last edited by BCJMU99; 10-12-2010, 03:52 PM.PSN & Xbox Gamertag - TheCrenshaw

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
Some frustrating things about my association I hope will be patched:
- Simming the seasons, playing the playoffs. Buy 2016 some stars have retired and generated rookies now in place as stars of teams. Touches are a nightmare to the point some 65 rated guy on the CPU team is having all the plays run for him. Teams don't/can't manage who gets the most touches in their offense.
- About 5 minutes of editing in each draft class handles the problem with no trades or FA signings. Here's the method I use:
- Jordan is a 79 in create a legend, so 79 is the top overall any rookie should have.
- Work with rookies rated over 75, since fixing this seems to remove the no trading and no FA problem.
- Multiply their overall by .79 (since 79 is what I use for the top instead of 100). The result is a rule of thumb target.
- Adjust down ratings, especially numbers for consistency and awareness. Try to reach the target, but generally get them below 70.
- Look around the draft class and the league to make sure some higher rated guys at each position are entering the league.
A center (Schneider) was edited in this way and then I drafted him so I could watch his progress. Originally an 83, he was edited down to a 68 with a potential of 81.
CPU was still handling trades and FA signings, although I drafted and made bids on key FA's in the off season.
In year one the rotation (I let the CPU handle it) had him in about 4 minutes per game with Noah the starting C.
Year two he increased to 73 overall. Trying to create cap room and looking to this young C as the future, I traded Noah for a #4 lottery pick and Boozer for a decent 1st round pick. The team acquired a 78 rated second year man in another trade, Yi Something, who started the majority of the time (I wasn't paying attention to the fact that CPU was still making trades as the season simmed.) Also signed as FA's were a number of aging former superstars or stars including T-Mac, Ray Allen and Rip Hamilton. Schneider played about 12 minutes per game with limited stats 2.3 PPG and 2.6 RPG.
Year 3 Schneider increased to a 76 overall with high numbers in rebounding and inside scoring (all high 70's or low 80's). Traded Yi for an early draft pick. With all the young talent and a now pretty effective Schneider, plus a now 93 rated Rose (edited his touches up so he would score more) the team was #2 seed in the East (57 wins - thanks to the huge home court advantage in simmed games nobody had more than 59 wins).
Year 4 Schneider increased to 78 overall, Allen and T-Mac retired, traded Rip and others for a better first round pick, added even more young talent.
Simmed the first 11 game - Bulls went 10-1. Schneider averaged about 16 points and 11.4 rebounds per game.
Played the next two (CPU v CPU Superstar, Sim with 3PT turned up to 50) against the Magic, who now have Carmello, and Boston. Against the Magic Schneider had 23 points and 19 rebounds, but the Bulls lost on buzzer beating 3 by Carmello. Players and teams perform differently in played games vs stats from simmed games, but not to the point of being unbelievable or of ruining the association. Rose performs about the same in simmed vs played games, as do most top guys with top touches on a team.
Against Boston, Garnett retired and now led by a young PF named Richard Duncan who has a big afro and a goatee, Schneider had 23 points and 16 rebounds in a losing effort.
It would be nice if each player had a different set of stats for sim vs played games. That would allow serious tweaking to eventually reach a point where they would perform about the same in sim and played games.
Touches would be better as a team set, like rotation. That way when players move around the league teams could adjust who gets the most plays run for them. Bosh, for example, won't get as many plays run for him on Miami as he did on the Raptors. It's not a player setting, it's part of a team's strategy just as rotation is.
The result of this excursion is that rookies who are fixed to remove the lack of trades and FA movement will develop into stars and even superstars over time. A draft class can have one or two 80+ guys without causing the issue. I cap it at 79 because of the create a legend Jordan, but it isn't necessary. And even guys around 70 overall can develop into a decent star.
It would be nice for 2K to fix the way draft classes are generated.
Another little problem that comes up is teams drafting the same player. It has appeared so far only in the second round. The worst was when all but two teams drafted the same player. Only one team was able to sign him, so most teams effectively lost their second round pick and a lot of decent rookies fell into the FA pool. Generally two or three teams will sign the same player. That's a must fix.Comment

What sliders are you guys using?
Just lost to the Orlando Magic. Which puts me at 1-3. Not getting much scoring outside of Amare and Galli. Considering picking up Dampier to play him at the 5 and move Amare to the 4 ideas?\Comment

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
If they release a patch soon that fixes all of the issues and requires a restart then I will throw in the towel on this one. I'll just look at it as practice. Hell, at this point it's just been a week and I usually have to wait that long to start a significant franchise with other sports games like NCAA or The Show. So, to me this wouldn't be much different. My 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague
