Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

I've been doing a Toronto Raptors Association, trying to build them up in spite of being saddled with bad coaching in the game. I simmed 2010-11 and started with the off-season.

I made only two trades. First, I sent Amir Johnson, Linas Kleiza & Sonny Weems to the Bobcats for Boris Diaw. I wanted a shooter on a short term deal and Diaw's on the last year of a big money deal but I have the space to take him on. Second, I sent Leandro Barbosa, Jerryd Bayless & Solomon Alabi to the Knicks for Chauncey Billups & Andy Rautins. Again, I needed to add some more offense and I wanted to give DeRozan bigger minutes. NY gets two guys better suited for a D'Antoni offense plus some cap space.

I fleshed out the roster with a handful of free agents in DeShawn Stevenson, Alonzo Gee, Kwame Brown and Hamed Haddadi.

    2011-12 Depth Chart

PG - Chauncey Billups, Jose Calderon
SG - DeMar DeRozan, DeShawn Stevenson, Andy Rautins
SF - Boris Diaw, Alonzo Gee, James Johnson
PF - Andrea Bargnani, Ed Davis
C - Jonas Valanciunas, Kwame Brown, Hamed Haddadi

I've been playing the games against teams in the same range as me (I'm a 74 overall) and simming the other games to try and get a realistic record. I plan on playing more games and simming less as I improve the team each year. I'm using the development drills on DeRozan's shooting and Valanciunas low post game. I doubt my record will be very good this season but with another high draft pick + a key free agent or two, I think I should be contending for a playoff spot.

Despite having what I think is a Good Caliber team, Kobe had Other plans and Beat my Sacramento Kings in Game 7 of the Western Comference
finals. But due to the fact my team
Is young, I think they will progress greatly in My 4th Year. I'm also gonna be making a little bit of Trades to Expand my Defense, I already did a Trade with Patty Mills to Grab Kirk Hinrich. So this is my Lineup.
      PG S.Curry/ K.Hinrich
      SG T.Evans/ K.Azabuike
      SF Paul George/ O.Casspi/ K.Korver
PF Josh Smith/ Taj Gibson/ Sean Williams
      C J.Noah/ J.McGee/ H.Whiteside

Some of the players I'm thinking of trading is Azabuike, Hinrich, Taj and O.Casspi. Thoughts? I'm keeping all of the Starting Lineup though S.Curry is an 88 Overall, Evans(94) P.George(86) Josh Smith(87) J.Noah(84)
I've used all of the Practice Drills on them . Steph Can't miss a 3 to save his life . So what other moves should I do?

Just do in season drills and work on developing little nuances to your guys games like Tyreke's range or Paul George's Ball Handling, Defense etc. you have title aspirations right now so I'd work on the in season drills to get your guys good for the post season as well as sign extensions before letting guys test free agency. I doubt you can keep your entire starting lineup intact due to monetary obligations in 2 or 3 seasons so just key in on the guys you absolutely want now since realistically speaking your team can't afford your starting lineup in the future.

update now 6-2 so far with the knicks[played 4 and won 3, losing to the bulls]. I just played probably the best game I ever did vs the bucks[using mkharshs sliders]. Ewing went off with 44 and Starks hit a game winning 3 over ray allen to win it 90-88. Came back from 9 down with 2 mins left too.

Yeah, I've Tryed resigning them and most of them have 5 year Contracts. Some have 2 or 3. But I think if i do what you said, I can win a title. And also,. Should I trade anyone on my bench?

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Simmed the first season of my new Cavs Franchise. I made one trade during the season to aquire Greg Oden. I wanted a hometown kind of guy to help rebuild this franchise since "The Decision".

During the offseason is where the fun started. I had decided to part ways with Jamilson and Andy V if the right offer came along.

Prior to the draft I was able to trade for Terrence Williams (Lebron Lite) to sure of the SF position.

Going into the draft I fully expected to draft Enes Kanter with my #4 pick and go after Jan Vesely, Bismac Biyambo, or Jordan Hamilton with my #11 pick. What happened next was completely unexpected. The first 3 picks of the draft were Irving, Kanter, and Knight. I quickly snagged Derrick Williams to be the conerstone of the franchise moving forward.

I expect to take a guard at #11 but that also changed when Jonas Valanciunas was still available. This would allow me to move Andy V later and save the cap room.

I did trade Andy at the start of the second round the third pick. With that pick I took Marshon Brooks. Before drafting him I only had Baron Davis and Alonzo Gee under contract at the guard position. I also had the #18 pick in the second round and took the young Isaiah Thomas to be our back up point guard.

This is the roster at this point:

              PG: B. Davis (73) I. Thomas-R (61)
              SG: A. Gee (67) M. Brooks-R (65)
              SF: T. Williams (75)
              PF: D. Williams-R (75) S. Samuels (63)
              C: G. Oden (78) J. Valanciunas-R (70)

As you can tell, lots of youth! I followed up the draft by moving into free agency. I did not target the best player. I wanted to fill in the gaps with vetern players that would not demand a high salary but would fill out our roster nicely. I signed both Grant Hill (73) and T. Mac (71) to one year deals. Both of these players would provide vertern leadership and help in areas of need. My next target was Luc Mbah a Moute, a defensive stopper and athletic PF. I was able to sign him and Luke Ridinor to a multi year deal that did not break the bank by any means.

I am now in the preseason of year 2

              My roster is:

              Starting
              PG: Baron Davis
              SG: T Mac
              SF: Terrence Williams
              PF: Derrick Williams
              C: Greg Oden
              Bench
              Grant Hill
              Jonas Valanciunas
              Luc Mbah a Moute
              Marshon Brooks
              Luke Ridinor
              Alonzo Gee
              Isaiah Thomas

Let me know your thoughts. I am not looking to make major moves this season but do expect improvement. I also expect 2012 draft class to be very strong as well as the 2012 free agency period. Wish me luck and please give feedback!

I agree with this completely! Target 2 maybe 3 of your young stars and start to build around them only. There is no way you can keep that team together as they improve. Some will walk but make sure you are prepared for that!

A very Young lineup indeed! Only one that isn't is the old Baron Davis. Though you don't want to do any major trades, I think that before trade Deadline, You should Definetly consider trading Baron to another team for a Young PG who is in the 70's or has Lots of potential. Overall, You have a very good young lineup that will see a Championship... In a Couple of years . When everyone has progressed to the 80's.

I like what you're doing as you said Terrance Williams is a LeBron LITE (seriously I've seen him years down th line avgnlike 29 6 6) and he rebounds like a Center. Id say go for Untapped Potential on TWills this next offseason and keep your current strategy. Let BDiddy's contract expire and try and get him at the minimum as a backup for your future point. You're solid at the 3, 4, and 5 and you can even be bold and move TWills to the 2 and work Derrick Williams speed and agility and move him to the 3, Valanciunas to the 4, and keep Oden at 5. Either works but you definitely have a good franchise duo in the Williams duo. I'd say see if you can nab a defensive pass first Point Guard later preferably one who is at least 6'3+ (I personally love Jrue Holiday when it comes to this)

Sorry Mr.Facade . But unlike him, I kept the Lineup for More than Just ONE year and I've done 81 Game Seasons. I also got K.Hinrich and Azabuike in Offseason. Not Before my 1st Year. And also, I have Josh Smith and J.Noah, He had Thompson and Noah And then J.Smith and Cousins. And I didn't Get Wilson Chandler. And like people said, I'm trading them away for lower contracts players. I'm keeping Evans and George. But the Rest of the Starting Lineup I'm trading for younger players.. I'm using a Little of his roster and then WORKING on it Myself. Making my Own Trades and Releases.

Wow umm... Ok so I decided to reset the rosters and sim the 1st season of a new association with the Raptors. Here are the seedings going into the playoffs

                          1. Mavericks
                          2. Lakers
                          3. Thunder
                          4. Spurs
                          5.Jazz
                          6. Rockets
                          7. Grizzlies
                          8. Nuggets

                          1. Heat
                          2.Celtics
                          3. Hawks
                          4. Bucks
                          5. Magic
                          6. Bulls
                          7. Bobcats
                          8. Cavaliers

Both 8 seeds beat the 1 seeds, then beat the 5 seeds in the next round. I was rooting for Cleveland but both 8's lost in the conference finals to the Lakers and Celtics. So for the 2nd straight year it was Boston vs LA and this one went 7 games too. The Lakers won but unlike last year they came back from 3-1 to do it.

I am loving my team right now. I just started the 2012 season and am off to a 5-0 start. Jut beat the Bulls in a very close game. John Wall is an absolute animal. Jan Vesely is turning into an offensive powerhouse. McGee is slowly becoming a post presence aswell.

                              Here is my lineup
                              Wall / Mack
                              Young / Jordan Crawford
                              Vesely / Singleton
                              Blatche / Perry Jones (R) / Booker / Seraphin
                              McGee / Booker / N'daine

This is the most dangerous fast break team I have played with in all my years playing B ball games. McGee rips the boards and Wall is off to the races.

                              What do you guys think?

Alright, I want to Make a Fresh New Association. I've done Blazers Kings and Cavs I believe. But what are some teams that are Rebuildable? What team should I Choose? I was thinking Pacers(P.George, Collison, Granger), 76ers or Nets OR Clippers. Might try and give Blake Griffin a Ring .
