Re: The Official Rate My Trade Thread

Alright, just started my Nets Association and i was looking to make some roster changes playing around. I ended up with "blockbuster" 3 way deal Wiz/Nets/Hornets

    Nets get:
    Chris Paul
    Andray Blatche

    Hornets get
    Gilbert Arenas
    Derrick Favors
    Nets 1st round 2011

    Wizards get
    Devin Harris
    Troy Murphy

Overall i think its a decent trade. Hornets get a young big to take West's place eventually and a first rounder, as well as Gil to take the scoring load

Nets get Chris Paul and a starting PF to run with Brook and Williams

and the Wiz get 1 mil off the books and until then a decent rebounder along with a shooter at the 4, and a decent option at the 2 with Harris.

Adding another wing is the last thing they need with Miles as they are pretty stocked on those type of players, and then they get rid of their first round pick for a decent second round pick, overall a bad trade for the Thunder in my opinion. But hey, it's your franchise, do what you will buddy.
Fair enough. I disagree they are stacked at the 3 as only Durant is listed their on the roster. I see J. Green can play there as well, but he's their starting SF.

I agree Turiaf isn't a big upgrade, it's very slight. I do think he wouldn't hurt any team chemistry. Mason gives the Thunder some added depth and he's a good defender as well plus a better outside shooter.

C.J. Miles was a toss in for salary reasons, he probably won't even see the court. He has a 1-year deal so he's done after one anyways.

I like it for both. If I was the Thunder I would probably pull the trigger and do it.

Not a fan if I'm the Wiz

I'm happy if I'm the Nets

If I'm the Hornets I'm thinking I just made a fool of the other two GMs

I picked Gil because i figure the Wiz want him out of town anyway and hey, get some of that money off the books, plus Murphy comes off at the end of the season. I was surprised actually that trade went through. Didn't think the Hornets would give up Paul that easy.

The big thing is the contracts of Harris and Murphy. If they have 2+ year left after this season it's just stupid by the Wiz. Harris has fallen off a bit and Murphy is a decent NBA vet.

They give up the blossoming Blatche & All-Star Agent Zero.

Only way they do that is if they get a top 5 pick and tons of cap room. They already did that last year shipping out Butler & Jamison. They wanted to start building around the guys they have.

The Wiz should have got the Nets 1st round pick. With Murphy's 11 million coming off the books at season's end, it would then make sense. They DO want to build around Wall, but that's exactly what they're doing by shipping Arenas out. Blatche was a lot to give up, I agree, but hes a necessary casualty to rid themselves of Agent Zero.

I give this trade a B-. If the Wiz got the Nets pick, I would give it an A-.

Giving up JUST Odom, you would've gotten the raw end of the deal, but adding a high energy spark like Shannon Brown that can explode for 20 points on any given night, and Steve Blake is a very capable and consistent 3 point shooter, you really screwed yourself over on this trade. The strength of the Lakers, the thing that makes them so good, is their length. It gives teams fits. Not to mention Lamar can also handle the ball and grab 10-15 rebounds off the bench. You just made the Lakers substantially worse. Sorry boss.

realistically speaking, this kind of trade would never go thru...but in the game, its a steal. Mo Williams will definitely do well in your lineup plus Powe is also a solid backup especially when ur other bigs get in trouble.

??? I have no use for Steven Blake or Shannon Brown. With Kobe getting 40 minutes a game and Vujacic coming off the bench as my backup SG (imo he is better....IN THE GAME). Getting Mo Williams to replace an aging Fisher, and having fisher as a backup PG. Come on now. Yes, maybe Odom for Powe is a lopsided swap, but... I will be getting a higher draft pick because face it, I will have a better record than the Cavs, and as of right now, I do. So that gives me 2 first round draft picks. As for Joey Graham, I only needed him to give Artest a rest, and replace the injured Matt Barnes, as I previoulsy said.

Figured I'd throw in a 2012 first rounder since I will probably be getting one of the later picks anyway.

Overall, I find it a beneficial trade for both teams. Cavs get some younger guys who have POT, and I get another weapon and 1st rounder.

EDIT: Btw, Mo Williams had 30 pts 19 asst 5 reb in his debut. Dont see Odom doing that to often. Powe also had 4 pts along with 6 boards.

I actually could see this trade happening if the circumstances are right. Say Fisher goes down for the year and Shannon Brown also goes out. I could see the Lakers offering up a younger Steve Blake and Lamar Odom in return for Mo Williams and Leon Powe who can help you keep your championship caliber team. I'm sure the Lakers would want a draft pick as well if the trade did go down. Lets just hope Fisher can still keep up this year

I did a fantasy draft using the Celtics and ended up with this:

                        PG - Rajon Rondo
                        SG - Stephen Jackson
                        SF - Tayshaun Prince
                        PF - Luis Scola
                        C - Chris Kaman

Bench: SF Mike Miller, SF James Posey, PG Kyle Korver (at work, forgot the rest :P)

How would you rate this team offensively and defensively?

here's my not particularly realistic trade

                          76ers (me) get:
                          kendrick perkins ovr 72
                          delonte west ovr 71

                          celtics get:
                          jrue holiday ovr 66
                          spencer hawes ovr 70

I really needed a post defender and rebounder. the only way this trade makes any sense to me is:

                          1. both perkins and west's deals expire this year and maybe they weren't going to resign them
                          2. perk was getting less than 10 mpg behind the o'neals
                          3. holiday and hawes are both younger than west and perk

I play the Raptors and really needed a Postdefender, so i pulled the trigger on this trade:

                              Raptors get:
                              Andris Biedrins, Brandan Wright

                              Warriors get:
                              Leandro Barbosa, Marcus Banks

                              Afterwards i did this trade:

                              Raptors get:
                              Thabo Sefolosha, D.J. White

                              Thunder get:
                              Amir Johnson, Fabricio Oberto

How do you like the trades?
