Same boat. Was turning the ball over a ton initially (Pro/Sim). Still a little high, but for most I can fault myself. Absolutely LOVE this game

all i use is icon & directional pasing ( pro/sim ). but i work the ball into positon to make the pass. sometimes i make an extra pass to a player who has a better angle to get the ball where i realy wanted it (touch passes ). I use safe passing lanes. when the play has a shooter coming off screens i start working the ball to a good spot to make the pass well before he gets there.
Just beat the lakers in OT by one basket with the 96 bulls 8min Qtrs. only had about 3 or 4 stolen passes. all were risky.

Yeah Tee. Without the implied need for you to make an extra pass it can take away the intensity of those moments right ? Were you throw a questionable pass but it get's through and you know you caught a break...LOL then the next time its like uhhhhhhh no... or yes but to me it adds intensity and focus on YOUR decision making. That is what keeps you coming back. Can you play your next game and not take those gambles...

Well Czar all I know for me is that the game is surely teaching me that my erractic style of basketball has to change immediately...

I have to move to a better angle to get my passes to the right person correctly...the more I turn it over the more I say to myself ..not even 2 seconds after i pass it..".that I should have gotten closer or not made that pass..that time..."

whether we know it or not this game is going to make alot of people more sim minded this year that is for sure....lol

Exactly!! please tell your boys at 2K not to overreact to the complaints untill guys have a month or two to learn the game. Cause right now i think this game handles like a dream!!!

I like how the defense has been adjusted...
Watch an NBA game and you will see that players take the best angles possible when passing... depending on the position of the defender you can make a cross-court pass in a half court setting in real life as you can in this game(full court should always be risky especially when passing with a low rated passer). Make a bad pass and its either going to go out of bounds, getting tipped, or stolen.
Thats how it should be.

My biggest gripe is that you almost HAVE to icon pass everytime to get it to the man you want to pass to. That usually isnt an issue however, when your driving to the basket or you find a cutting player open sometimes using the icon takes too long or doesnt register and the opportunity passes you by or results in a turnover. Then when you make a regular pass(A on 360) they dont always pass it to the player you want even when your directing the left stick towards that player.

They definitely should address this in a title update.

I think given time, we will enjoy the challenge, fun and excitement. I started killing the game on Pro/Sim so I moved up to All-Star/Sim. I haven't yet won a single game on All-Star/Sim, but I still love this game. I'm getting closer and it is forcing me to be deliberate on each possession. 2k nailed it.

In my first preseason game in my friendly league, I turned the ball over a ton and realized I had to change my play style. I won the game by 8, but knew my play style from years past had to be refined. I shortened up my passes and tightened up my offensive play style and won the 2nd game by 25 against the same team.

So is anyone really able to run Pick and Roll Basketball effectively ? I can avoid turning the ball over, but for the life of me i can´t run the Pick & Roll because the defense covers a lot of space and makes a lot of deflections with their back to the ball. Also, i´m not impressed by the spacing in most Pick and Roll plays. Some are good, but most really don´t space the court well.
Also, the big man almost never commits to the ballhandler and the screened player recovers very, very fast.

Also, the CPU doesn´t run very many Pick and Rolls, do they ?

This is with more or less default sliders (on ball D lower, passing ability higher and defensive awareness lower along with a few minot changes for the shooting percentages)

I don´t expect to be able to run it all the time, but a couple clean P&Rs a game would be kind of nice. There´s very little "miscommunication" on defense in the middle where guys miss their assignement or get moved out of position during the P&R.

Absolutely, I use the Spurs and run a good 10-15 pick and rolls per game. Duncan does a great job rolling to the basket. I've had no passes picked off in that situation. When I do run into trouble it's with indecision between taking it to the hope with Tony or Manu or throwing it to Timmy for the spot up or roll to the basket.

This is a situation where Icon passing is 100% required though. Right before I approach the pick I hit RB to bring up the icons and have my finger on the Y button ready to pass, then treat the play like a normal pick (not a pick and roll), if my guard is stopped it's just a matter of waiting for the instant Duncan rolls to the basket.

I call plays on 90% of my possessions and absolutely LOVE every minute of it.

Alright played atlanta and had a grand total of 5 turnovers..and thats while playing a high octane fastbreak offense...TOs are fine.

I don't have problems turning the ball over from my brief experience with the game. Any smart baller knows passing angles and leading your intended target away from the basket and defense. I've used lead passing this way in 2k9 and 2k10, so it hasn't been a major adjustment.

The majority of my turnovers is my fault, cuz I'm trying to see what I can get away with. Basically testing the game out. But I know they are bad passes when I throw them. No complaints from me about turnovers.

Same here, I am loving the passing scheme this year. This is 1 thing 2k did a great job on.

When you play on All-Star and above you start to seem some ridiculous things happen. Its been said time and time again but the AI speed and intelligence boosts the CPU gets versus user teammates AI are almost laughable. Especially so on HOF.
