    Re: Please patch Fast Breaks!!

Also, on high difficulties, I have seen some "strange" AI behavior like guys taking themselves out of position to makes plays for no reason and user controlled players seeming to not always be under the user's control. Its nowhere near as bad as years past. But it does pop up from time to time.

Works great in the half-court set as well.. I usually do this when I have my PG/SG isolated in the corner with a big on the block.. The ballhandler will pass into the post and cut straight for the hoop.. Sometimes, it can lead to an easy lay-up if the defender takes the wrong angle around the big.. Othertimes, it provides more space for the big to go to work by clearing the guard from that area.. Means you don't have to worry about that guard playing off and coming down for the double..

The initial ballhandler moves to the other side of the court after the cut...

Total control passing is great but you shouldn't have to take control of a player to get him to do the simple, common things guys do on fast breaks. Another issue is the fact that bigs (on teams that run) don't usually react like they do in real life. On the whole this isn't a game killing problem (not even close) but it does need a good bit of work.
Amen... especially about the Total Control Passing.

Are these tips you're giving in the manual? Maybe I need new glasses...

So the LT & A gives you the bounce pass on breaks all the time or at least consistently? I can't try this just yet because I'm still at work.

I started at sim and moved to default because the cpu and I was shooting mid 30's each, i didn't switch for fastbreaks. Now we tend to be mid to upper 40s.

I don't see how this defends you guys telling others suck. Your just playing against easier defenses on default, not magically fastbreak gods. I frankly hate the attitude of telling other suck, you should be helping them instead of berating them.

For example, on real fastbreaks and in game fastbreaks- a good method is run to the top of the opposing teams free throw line. You generally will get the one guy back to come up to you which gives the trailer room to get to the hoop for a dunk. I believe pushing A twice also passes to the furthest player up court. That might help someone, since of me saying- you guys suck. Go improve.

RT+A.. It's technically for fancy passes.. Sometimes yields a regular bounce pass..Sometimes it's a nice behind the back

Haven't touched the manual this year.. I'm just sharing things that have been in 2K ball for years that a lot people don't know about..

My fast breaks online have been beautiful.

You have to make SMART outlet passes. Don't just throw it down court, try leading a guy towards the middle of the floor, diagonally across and up the court, to start the break.

If you just throw it down court it will likely get picked or deflected, and it will usually result in a tough catch as well, which will only slow you down.

Somebody mentioned that the AI players don't seem to realize where the ball handler is therefore they don't position themselves properly for the ballhandler to make the right pass.

I am one of those people who still thinks that either the CPU defense is too perfect or the fastbreak needs a little tweaking. However, after several more games under my belt while consciously trying to play smarter basketball than I did in 2k10, I'm starting to trim down my turnover and I'm appreciating the game even more.

***Whenever my pass gets intercepted, I used to get so frustrated, but not anymore. Why? Because I started looking at them on the replay, and I realized that the tips or interception are actually realistic.*** Granted, I still think that the CPU plays a little bit too perfect (both offense and defense) even on PRO/SIM.

Guys, I have read through this entire thread, and I think it's pretty equal on the number of people who thinks the game needs tweaking and the people who thinks the game is perfect as it is.

So for those who are really good in this game and do not think there CPU defense is almost too perfect, please be more constructive in your comments and replies. Provide concrete solutions or advices to people who are having an issue with anything about the game. We all need to realize that there is probably a lot more newcomers this year than any year in the past since NBA Delete got sacked. We definitely want to keep those newcomers on 2k's side to guarantee 2k will be here to stay.

On the other hand, for those who are new or used to playing live, please have a little more patience, and try to learn the game. Try viewing the replays of instances where you think the CPU was cheating or cheesing. Try to heed the gameplay tips from DaCzar. Try to spend a lot more hours in Practice mode. This is what I did and I'm appreciating the game more than the first few days I was playing.

Hopefully, 2k can find the right balance and patch the game OR explain clearly (perhaps in a thread) the differences of each gamestyle/difficulty level in such a way that people (especially "converts" and kids) would know what to try if the default gamestyle does not fit their own...

Maybe they can add a detailed explanation of how the various sliders affect the gameplay as well while they're at it...

OK - I can agree to that. I do hate when people say that they can do something but won't share.

Number one - remember who you're playing with. Don't try and run a fastbreak with Ray Allen on the wing and expect him to dive everytime. He has his tendencies set to take that pull-up three. That's a fastbreak point opportunity right there that people pass up b/c everyone wants a dunk. Play with the Heat and play an uptempo pace and I guarantee that LeBron or Wade will dive 95% of the time. Use Alley oops closer than last year to the diver to get a higher completion rate. Keep the ball in the middle of the floor as much as possible and when you know it's not possible to get it off, reset and run your set offense.

#2 - MAKE SURE YOU HAVE REBOUNDING BIGS!!! I can't stress that enough. You need to be able to rebound the ball without having your fastbreak slider turned down. It has to be above 60% filled. That takes the SF off rebounding duties and has him leak out more. Keep in mind that on higher difficulties, you're going to give up too many offensive ones to even do this all game.

#3 - Learn the euro step layup. Trust me. Not the hop step. Euro.

More tips in a minute - I'm at work.

It happens a lot in the Jordan challenge.

Euro Step layup and Hop Step layup, step back jumper, spin jumper, up and under jumpers and layups all are extremely useful on the break

as stated above this is not to be confused with the hop step button. there is a HUGE difference between using the hop step button and executing the specific moves above with the shot stick and triggers. One of the major areas where the difference is noticeable is in the speed you can execute these moves as opposed to the hop step button.

and using the right type of dribble moves to get yourself in position to make a play is also essential.

And yes I can concur, there is a HUGE difference between sim style and default style. On default I can get 40 plus steals on 12 minutes. On Sim I get 12 to 15 steals on 12 minutes.

Therefore I just play on custom, because Sim does a few odd things I just don't like but default is tad bit too easy.

I don't I ever used the hop step button since 2k5......I never had a need for it since it was always easy to get to the rim anyway.

On pro the fastbreaks are okay.

On all-star it is too hard to fastbreak.

If I play on all-star I lower defense awareness for both USEr and CPU to 20. It lowers the recovery speed on breaks. I have done this every year since 2k5 I think.....

I wish they had a slider for defensive transistion speed.
