I agree with this. When I read about the improvement they made with the directional passing, I was really excited. But it doesn't seem to be improved at all. Just really random. This should really be addressed. I use icon passing most of the time, but on the drive and kick I need directional passing.

This is what I learned to do. I learned the hard way and is still learning about how its sometimes crucial to move toward your defender in a decent position so you wont throw any crazy passes. And yes I do approve of the passing.Comment

2K, Don't try to fix things that don't need fixed! The passing is fine. Just because you can't throw passes all over the court, something has to be wrong?!?! That's why their is a practice mode! Learn to play real NBA Ball!PS3, we had a good run! (7/18/09-10/5/14)Comment

Also, good thread 24 because this is something I can see being changed based on the how many people are complaining about it (just like the layups were in 2K8). Then 6 months down the road when you can thread the needle from full court with Chuck Hayes we have threads asking was passing really that bad.
Passing is done right this year. Pass intelligently and there will be nothing to complain about.
The game hasn't even been out a week and guys are demanding things to be patched. PLAY the game for a little while, sheesh. Learn what works and what doesn't.

Sign. Sealed. Delivered.
Passing is great this year, please don't change it. Also some people just need to change their settings, no one is forcing you to play on All-star/Sim.Comment

Signed WTF
Passing is excellent. For once you have a lot of control over passing, and those complaining about it, aren't getting the angles needed to make correct passes, and aren't using the other options available to getting guys open for the pass.

Nah they need to fix the passing. The deep pass is too accurate, and the lead receiver on a lead pass doesn't honor contact well enough. If you are in the path it should affect the pass more. The pass ratings are a bit ridiculous too. Other than that I think its cool.Last edited by Kaanyr Vhok; 10-08-2010, 08:36 PM.Comment

Add me on.
I had a couple of games with Str8 last night. The first game I was at home and had at least 15 TO....lost by 12+.
2nd game, comes. I get more discreet with my passing and I win away.
DO NOT CHANGE IT 2k. Refine..but don't change.Originally posted by My Wife"The Celtics only won because they have a magical elf playing for their team...."Comment

Re: 2k needs to hear both sides: Sign here if your ok with the passing mechanics
Passing in 2K11 is more realistic than it has been in any previous basketball video game.
Gone are the days of long passes in transition flying by defenders in the mid-court, moving in one direction at full speed and throwing stupid 180 passes, making post entry passes from the worst of angles/no angle at all, passes in the half court floating by defenders, etc. There's so much that's revolutionary with how the defensive AI is this year in regards to passing; it's really amazing.
In previous years you could sort of "zombie" out while making passes without worrying about a turnover, unless you were trying something super outrageous.
In 2K11, you have to be aware of who you're passing with, pay attention to the positioning of the defense and the angle you're making the pass at, which, in my opinion, makes for a much better & enjoyable gameplay experience. Don't do those two things at all times, and you'll mess up the simplest of passes.Last edited by BBallGuru; 10-08-2010, 08:47 PM.Comment

I really feel like this thread was needed because it definitely gives you a view from the 'other' side, and it was also needed because 2K does take feedback from consumers & reviewers into consideration for a patch. Let the rumblings get too loud, and they (2K) would definitely take action; fantastic thread.
I absolutely do NOT want passing touched this year. For the first time in a basketball video game, there is some real differentiation between players with a high skill for passing and those who are considered to be 'normal' or not so good passers (haven't had anyone outside of CP3 on my team come close to dishing 10 assist). People can't attempt the same type of passes that they would with an elite PG if the player doesn't have the attributes to match. The ball will have a noticeable decrease in "zip" and accuracy if the player isn't skill in passing, so if you attempt a cross court pass with a center, don't be surprised if it gets picked, or goes errant all together. People have been abusing the passing lanes against the CPU for years due to predictable play calling and movements, and now that it seems that the A.I has gotten more "human like", and can predict the users bad passes, some want the A.I to be dumb down/bought back to levels of previous iterations; I hope they don't touch passing this year, or the FG %'s (especially on sim), which I've heard people complain about quite a bit, but that's a another topic.
Strictly for future wishes, I would like to see more head tracking, so the D will actually be focus on the ball while going for an steal attempt. I don't think this could be patched, nor am I expecting it, so the passing right now is more than serviceable, and its by far better than any of the passing systems put into previous NBA 2K games, so I'm digging the improvements and direction. Also, another great thing about this game is that it gives the user a wealth of options in the form of sliders, ratings, difficulties, and gamestyle, so I'm sure those who are complaining can find the right combination to combat the human-like CPU if they don't like being taken advantage of.
