no one has said anything to change my mind that this game isn't scripted based on my experience with this game. no matter how smart you play, there are going to be quarters where you can't hit anything. sliders, difficulty, whatever...it doesn't matter.

I have been playing since release day on all star simulation sliders with some tweaks of my own and rashidi roster and never have I felt I was cheated by the game scripting the outcome.

If I felt that way I would be the first to say something but that is just not true

Oh yea the game is scripted! Just play My player where you can't change sliders and you will notice the same elements happen around the same time every game.I think the cpu A.I gets a boost in ratings too in my player.

Its like Scrubs play like ballers and ballers cant ball.It gets so frustrating when you can feel the rubber band effect happening in my player.

The cpu will play the passing lane perfect but my team mate will not. They just go .Even when the ball hits them in the face they still cant catch the damn ball so the cpu warp to the ball always.

My bigs look like they float in slow motion honest to God,even when there 2ft in front of the basket just so the A.I can catch up and start a damn block,bump animation with no foul call.

Fast break are touchdown passes.When you recover a rebound your team mate always take there time and never sprint up court, so its usually the cpu 5 vs 3 until your PF and C realize its time to play offense.

As soon as I press the LB button for icon passing the cpu jumps right in front of every passing lane always.

2k11 is kinda scripted kinda controller reading by A.I.Again just play my player then press icon pass watch the cpu as soon as you hit the button. Like flies on sh#T they move like superman into good position for a turn over even if they are rated 55.Plus they know your plays your going to run ,so they jump to the position your suppose to be at and none of your team mate wants to move around.


Still a good game. Just add sliders to Myplayer 2k.

I love it when someone will raise an issue like cheating AI and a good number of guys will criticize him and act as if he's lying or like they've never seen the same thing themselves, and give speeches as if you know more basketball than he does. Back off a bit, we all understand basketball thank you, you haven't cornered the market on basketball knowledge, so don't patronize. I play on All-star and it happens all the time even with the lesser teams, so much so I can feel it coming in the beginning of the third quarter, if it's not scripted how do I know when it's going to happen? It should not be predictable. Yes I understand basketball very well, i know you have to make smart shots and make adjustments on defense i'm playing just as intensely but it doesn't matter because your teammates don't respond the way the computers players do.
And when it comes to runs in a game that works for both sides not just one. Personally I haven't seen a difference in clutch factor ON or OFF.

It's when you start complaining and telling the whole world about an issue that may or may not exist that the game becomes less fun and enjoyable. I've never actually experienced the AI cheating, but now you've made me think the AI is cheating, so now I may start complaining about a problem that may or may not exist.

i hate this game sometimes, yes it is scripted. When the cpu goes on these major runs and start bombing 3's, grabbing every rebound, and you start missing simple shots, turning the ball over. It's all a set-up, and it ends in lopsided quarters where the cpu will shoot 77% and score 28points in a quarter and you shoot 25%, and scored 7.

Thats why I only play against human opponents. I dont think "scripted" is the best word to use in this situation either. I really dont believe the com. KNOWS what your going to do on a certain poss. or if its already determined that your not going to make a shot or not. What I will agree on is that the coms offense is somewhat "scripted". When they throw the ball into the paint and start backing me down I already know the shots going in no matter what I do on defense smh. Thats the price you pay though for playing on HOF. So if you like playing the com. (which to me personally is boring) then set it to all star and use sliders to get the experience you want.

Like I said in my first post in this thread, this game has been out for 5 months now, so that is plenty time to feel out the game and understand every element of gameplay. If after 5 months you notice the same patterns happening over and over again, that, my friend, is the definition of scripting.


And it's not as simple as turning down the difficulty level. In my opinion, the scripting is not tied to difficulty setting but rather into the A.I. itself. All the difficulty does is decides just how much of an effect the scripting has. Of course, on higher difficulty settings, the scripting is more obvious and effective than on lower difficulty settings. Those of you who are not seeing this are likely playing on a lower setting so the effects don't appear as dramatic. But they definitely do exist.

For a 2K veteran like me (I've owned EVERY 2K since 2K2), I have to play on Hall of Fame for me to fully enjoy any victories I get on the CPU. I've been playing on HoF since the difficulty setting was first introduced back in 2K7, 2K8 (I can't remember which one introduced it first). Like I said earlier, it's not like the computer is unbeatable even with the scripting. That's not what these complaints are about. The complaints are about the dynamic gameplay that was promised but is apparently nonexistent after 5 months of gameplay.

It's like watching a movie for the third time. The first time you watch the movie, you're excited. Your interest is piqued. You're seeing the characters develop for the first time, and every plot twist and turn is unexpected and appreciated. When you see that same movie the third time, everything becomes predictable, and the story isn't as intriguing because you already know what's going to happen next. That satisfaction you felt after watching the movie the first time is ghost by the third time.

Scripted sound kinda heavy but the PROGRAMMING does seem to have certain reoccuring Patterns.

I think w/ all the "tech" we have, A GAME is still going to have limits despite the fact we gamers imagine the AI having 1000 options when they dont.

I don't mind the opposing offense getting hot and closing the gap. The NBA is a league of runs. What gets me grumpy is when you get to that point of the game where your players miss little bunnies and layups. It''s a cheap way to keep a game close, especially when you have run a patient offense to create a good look.

I see it, all the time in fact. I play on All-Star Sim and the CPU will make this miraculous run almost every game, it's to the point where I can't play multiple games in a row because I get sick and tired of seeing the same old story.

A great game is played in the first half, true basketball experience; then, usually, right out of the gates in the third, or a few minutes in they go on this miraculous run. I'm talking about the type of run where they score 34 point in the quarter and i'm lucky to get 10. It's not about me playing on HOF or superstar, i'm playing on All-Star Sim with clutch OFF.

I promise you this happens almost every game. It gets boring after awhile to the point where I can't even play the game, knowing that no matter what I do in the 3rd the CPU will hold me to under 15 points each time.

I'm not saying I lose all the time, because I do win, a lot. It's just the fact that it's the same old song each and every game and it gets incredibly tiring.

I have to agree. It's been a long time problem for 2k (and all basketball games really going back to as early as the old PC Lakers vs. Bulls games and yes I am dating myself with that reference). As you move up in levels, rather than the AI playing smarter they seem to simply make tougher and more ridiculous shots and the flip side is that as you move up in levels, your ability to hit basic shots is diminished. To me that's not playing at a higher level, that's just silly handicapping. Obviously though it must not be easy to program the various game levels to have a smarter AI as you move up. If it was it would have been done because this issue gets complained about every year.

I think we all understand that during the course of a season there are going to be games where you sprint out to a good sized lead and then the other team makes a run. Basketball is a game of runs, so again to defend the programmers they must walk a fine line. But I think many of us agree that on 2k it goes beyond the occasional game where a team makes a great comeback and instead does appear to be a pattern that in the 2nd half on all-star or above levels, the CPU team will start dropping every shot they toss up, regardless of the defense and the human player will suddenly miss wide open shots up to and including layups. This occurs with the clutch factor turned off and with the clutch slider turned to zero for the CPU. It occurs with consistency turned down to 40 (for me, others may have that turned down even more).

It does make for a frustrating experience (obviously not frustrating enough for me not to buy the game year after year though) because on pro, where the programmed comebacks don't seem to occur, it is just too easy to win. And again, for me I'm not looking for a more challenging game simply by jacking up the CPU shooter sliders so they hit shots they shouldn't, I'm looking for a more challenging game by having an AI that plays better D, makes better decisions, plays strong fundamental basketball, and has the players on the team play up to their real life capabilities (and in the occasional game beyond) but doesn't turn scrubs into all-stars. And based on this being a yearly issue, what I'm asking appears to be quite difficult. Here's hoping they keep working on it and improve it for next year.
