Re: Player Lock Association Users Thread

Try using mkharsh33's sliders. V0.1 / JD's base. I'm using them currently and it plays nicely for me. I like to have auto playcalling on when I don't play as a PG, I know it only runs about 5 different plays during a game but I still prefer it that way.

If your player is shooting too good wouldn't it be easier to change your controls to real shooting % than edit ratings?

I personally do use real shooting / FT%.

You guys don't create yourselves and player-lock on yourself? I just can't understand wanting to be Kobe Bryant when you can be you and defend Bryant. That's the real fantasy.

I have seen the issues with your teammates shooting poorly. I've had to raise the User shooting sliders to 53-55 on Allstar. My teammates shoot about right now, 45-50% for most. Problem is, I'm shooting 65% with shooting of 65. The announcers just started talking about how crappy of a shooter I am since my rating is only 65. I don't like that. I like the shot stick shooting just because it makes me feel more in control. When I see that perfect release, that means I did it right. When I see the poor release, I'm not complaining if it doesn't go in. I don't like a roll of the dice deciding my success.

I leave auto play-calling on and use the diagrams and run the plays that way. I also do auto subs and Coach mode when they take me out of the game.

After all these years, I'm still in awe at how many people don't do Player-lock. I've been doing it for over 20 years now and I cannot play a basketball game without it.

I might create a PG for my next Association. Seeing as he will be classed as an undrafted player I better give him a pretty low rating.

I too went to player lock after my player got annoying from the completely unrealistic gameplay. now I can use realistic sliders, playbooks, etc.

I can even edit my teammates so they play more realistic, which was neccessary as PG for the celtics (Ray plays nothing like himself).

I can never go back to playing with the whole team after going player lock with NHL and 2kNBA. team-up with custom sliders with friends is the best!

now they just need to add a co-op (player lock) association over online next year!!!

Thanks for posting your sliders Sky. I will give them a go when I put 2K11 on later. I'm glad there are other people on here who realize how fun Player Lock is on the game given the right sliders. As for Kevin Durant I found that with Auto Playcalling on basically every play is run for him and you end up having to put up 45PPG to win and that feels a bit too much like MP mode for me. If you don't use Auto Playcalling then I should think it will be a fun game to run with.

im a huge my player user but i think i might try player lock for a bit...either with brandon roy or with a created PG for the Trailblazers

if i do create a player...i'll probably use the same tendencies as manu ginobili for simulation purposes

Re: Player Lock Association Users Thread

I'm really enjoying playing player lock offline but if anyone would like to start a "player lock only" online association I'd join. The fewer games per season the better. I don't think anyone has the time to try and finish an 82 games season. I'm not sure what the options are I'll check later but a 15-20 game season or so would be ideal for me.

Anyone here already in a "player lock" online association? If not would anyone be interested in starting one? We could make it a fantasy draft and put everyone in the same conference or use regular teams, doesn't matter.

We could use either my sliders or yours. Whichever everyone feels is better. The difficulty would be at least all star. Or we could make it hall of fame. I heard hall of fame difficulty is best for user vs. user games. Shooting sliders would have to lowered to at least 47 or 48 if it's on hall of fame.

                    Anyone interested?

I remember playing NBA Live 99 and 2000 in player lock mode. Was great fun.

How is the gameplay actually different between normal player lock mode and MyPlayer in 2k11, btw ?

Player lock was the best thing that ever happened to 2k in my perspective.
I don't have a problem controlling a whole squad, but I just love how they play like they have a mind of they own.
My only problem with player lock is that my thumb is constantly pass button itchy.
Player lock in association is so much better than my player mode.
I haven't did player lock in a while though, I'ma start one up and sim the 1st season and draft my-self.
I'm only 6'1" and my best skills are rebounding and posting, so I should be a 2nd rounder, but should be interesting how my CAP plays out.

player lock when compared to my player mode is cheap only in the sense that created players have no caps on their attributes....also you could have literally every dunk package, post move, and etc available to you....but im not complaining...i made a 6'3'' All-Around PG with shawn kemp's dunk package(something i couldnt have on my player mode)

I see it as more freedom, I've paid my money for the game I'd like to be able to play it the way I want to. That being said, all it would take for me to enjoy MP mode is the ability to use custom sliders. That is surely not too much to ask for right?

not at all...i need to get back into the habit of playing this game...havent touched my ps3 for gameplay in like 3 weeks...mostly just editing and uploading

but i pretty much just dragged the attributes and stats i have for my character on MP mode onto this created player for association last night

only things that changed are some of the post moves, jumpshots and the dunk package

                                I woldn't call it cheap.
Granted they capped it so there won't be no cheesers, but at the same time, it hurt the people who don't play online.
There's people who want to excel pass a 90rtg for 3pt shooting or off-dribble shot.
It keeps some realism in a way for the player's ability, but cuts off all the training, now that's cheap.
I rather create a player in association with 50rtg across the boards and build him up that way.
I've done it before and it's not hard to do with weekly/monthly training.
Like my player now who's on the suns, his dunking ability is 25.
It'll take him 9 years to get a 70+ dunk rating.
You can get a 70 within 30 games in myplayer mode.
So I prefer training/building in association than in myplayer.
