    Also:

I've been playing this series since Iverson was on the box, and this year I had to start all over again on ROOKIE...

    It was worth it...

Re: Why is shooting so difficult in this game?

*crings* rookie, but I haven't gotten every year's, but I've played quite a few over the years. I believe 2K3 was my first. And I've had no problem on Pro, could usually get good at all-star with a few games, and after that, it was hit or miss. A great set of sliders made the higher difficulties playable, but I always liked all-star. This year, though, maybe it is worth it in the end, but I'll keep working on pro for now.

Thanks for the tip Pared, could you please point me out the direct link where I can find them...I look for them everywhere but couldn't find anything on the the OS members leagues forums. Thanks in advance.
Only respectable people deserve respect, you destroyed the game.

Jump Shooting is been awful the last 2 years in the series. The release point shuld not be determined by an animation but by the time you release the button. Cant understand why you would want to change something thats been great for a decade...

That form of logic is terrible. Shooters have different release points because their shot timing is different. You shouldn't have the same length of time to release a shot between Shawn Marion and Kyle Korver. If it were a 1.5 second release on every single player that didn't coincide with how quickly they can get a shot off, the game would appear broken.

Again, you post doesn't make sense at all. This isn't Double Dribble (great game).

Re: Why is shooting so difficult in this game?

Well I managed another few games and this last one improved even more. Still some holes in my game, or in something I'm not capitalizing on in the game. Played Suns @ Heat and I was Miami... I figured if something was going to go right for me, it would be with having 3 great players along with some 3-pt shooters on the floor. The game was a little too fast paced, but it involving Phoenix, I was expecting a bit of run and gun so. Instead of my shooting be so off, it seems I was just giving up too many shots. My fouls were way down in this game, though, and I was able to draw fouls at a nice rate.

Lost 107-94. 38/85, 44% for me; 48/92, 52% for Phoenix. PHX only had 8 free throws though to my 17, so if I had fouled more, the shot total might have been down a bit.

I let the computer call my offensive plays because I don't have the patience to do that at the moment; never really have. I'm comfortable, usually, with what the computer picks, but in this game, they kept picking this horrible play that had me relaying the ball back to the PG under the basket except 99% of the time, there are 2 guys in the passing lanes. I had 16 turnovers and I'm going to say 6 of them came from this play. I tried to make it work before just giving up and attempting to make it work other ways, which failed as well. Just seems like a broken play that probably cost me the game easily.

I was finally able to go on a run. I was down by 19 and cut it down to a 4 point game in the 3rd quarter. Plays were working and I was able to get shots underneath. Post play still seems a bit iffy for me, but Bosh had quite a few putbacks that actually went in for me, which is a nice change. I'm used to getting an offensive rebounding, putting it up, another miss, and just a lost possession.

Shot my usual ~30% from beyond the arc so with some practice, I can get it up into the 30's and be happy with that. Went 13-19 in the low post which is a nice improvement compared to earlier games, but 13/22 in the key vs. Phoenix's 17/21. I'm starting to chalk this up to defense though. I let teams get away with a bit too much.

So the offensive troubles seem to be slowly going away and it is down more to defense, especially fast break. Is there a good way to prevent the computer from just kicking your *** on fastbreaks? It seems that they have it easy on long court passes and can just get away with anything. Whereas, if I pull off a steal, I've got a guy right next to me ready to stop it. 18 fastbreak for Phoenix; 0 for me. I don't even think I had any opportunities in this game.

There is also a HUGE difference between being set and shooting off the dribble. When taking jump shots try to make sure your feet are set first (along with the other suggestions above)

Well, I'll start by stating the obvious (that you already stated yourself). I think you would greatly benefit from running your own plays. After an initial "warming up to it" phase (I never ran plays before) it becomes second nature to select a play for the player or your choice each time down the floor. In my experience through My Player Mode, the automatic playcalling can be repetitive and unfulfilling.

Second, I suppose I'd double check what type of shots your big men are getting inside. Contested finishes from any distance seem to have a much higher failure rate, even in the paint. Pump fakes can be utilized inside in an effective manner.

Third, to help curb fast breaks, it may be beneficial to lower the "crash boards" tendency of your team. Also, I sometimes have to go out of my way to make sure I get back down the floor after a missed shot against teams like Phoenix. Otherwise, like you, transition buckets abound.

                      ^^^This.

Unless I'm using an elite athlete, the majority of my shots are catch-and-shoot before the defense has a chance to rotate.

Be patient, take good shots, and you will see your FG% increase.

Re: Why is shooting so difficult in this game?

Ok, I'll start working in my own plays the next few games. It's not that bad. Get the ball up floor a little quicker and use the menu and it's all done. I'm used to a few years ago where there were just a few, but now geez, you get about 20 plays which is great. Get it the players you know will get the job done or who are having a good game. It actually sounds more fun than past years.

Pump fakes is something I need to work in a bit more. The tendencies say I'm poor at it. I'll do it for the mid-range shots and 3-pointers, but I'm bad about doing it under the basket so yea, that would probably help get the last few to go down that should be. I'm also bad about holding down R2 instead of L2. It'll give me a few more layup options. I also need to force myself to use the shot stick. I have a bad habit of mid-game, starting to hit square and my timing is worse on it and I lose shot selection.

                        Turning down crash boards. Check.

I used to play on All Star and this year, Pro feels like the former All Star to me and this year's Rookie feels like the former Pro level...

Its a matter of realism vs fun. Of course different players have different release points but in a videogame I want to be the one who determines the release of the shot. Its been in 2k7,8,9 and before and the game didnt seem broken. The satisfaction of a made shot is that much higher when you were the one timing the release right rather than watching a predetermined animation where you have to guess when the player releases the shot. It just takes the fun out of jump shooting for me personally.

I wish it had both. For someone like my dad, he is much more used to the timing of his own shot from playing years with me on games. But I can see how the realism comes in to match each player, but the problem is that there are 100's of players. I played a game as the Celtics and I had no problem with Allen's shot, but it seems I was always too early on Paul Pierce's jump shots and I was early or late with Garnett's. I could never get a rhythm because it's different for every single player.
