Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
Yeah it's pretty much impossible to play as anything other than a PG. Not only for the reasons you explained, but because of the constant pushing the CPU defenders do to you when trying to navigate around the court when you don't have the ball. It's impossible to set screens near the paint or even move around comfortably anywhere inside of the 3 point line. Even guys much smaller and weaker than you will muscle you up, push you around and box you out.
And the plays are terrible. Not only do they never work, but your team always runs the same stupid plays over and never runs any for you. The teammate A.I. in My Player really needs a LOT of work.
I've found it much harder to rebound over anything else. I can score, I can get assists, steals, blocks. Rebounding is just such a pain. There's no mechanic to it. As long as you press the left trigger, or if you get boxed out yourself, there's no opportunity to get a rebound. That'd be okay in most regards, but the fact that Brandon Jennings can box out a 7' tall, 250+ pound center without any resistance is absurd. I understand positioning is key but it gets frustrating when EVERY player can get positioning and fend off a much more physical player.
What's worse, you can get suctioned into a box out. I was on the top 3 point line, and I ran in to the paint to go after a ball my teammate had just let go, was running on the right side of the key, when my player got stuck behind Gerald Wallace who was in the middle/left side of the key. He was a solid 3 feet away from me, but somehow he boxes me out. With his back turned to me and standing stationary.
The only thing I have found that will sometimes work, is tapping the left and/or right triggers while simultaneously moving the left stick either left or right to try and spin off a defender, much like you would do to spin out of the post on offense. It doesn't have a very high success rate, but at least it creates some sort of action than just sitting there and having my play be content with being boxed out by some minuscule guard.
My teammates can sometimes be morons when going up for boards too. They'll have superior position but decide not to go after the ball with very much force, but that does happen in real life. Just frustrating watching Blake Griffin not go up for a rebound and have it fall to the opposing team.Last edited by SaylaB; 06-09-2012, 03:37 AM.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
Lmao...
Only in 2K (I was playing MP) can Russell Westbrook back down Tyson Chandler in the post and hit a turnaround jumper. This is almost as crazy as Joakim Noah hitting a buzzer-beating three pointer in another game.Comment

And then Jordan Hill in the post was unstoppable. He was hitting literally 18 foot fadeaways. He was 8/9 in the first quarter on nothing but post shots.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
I kind of gave up on My Player. At least for a while. Switched over to Create a Legend with Stephen Curry. Way way more fun. Beats the hell out of playing 12-14 minutes per game in My Player, having a mediocre game, and then somehow being considered an important player in the post-game press conference. Like, why would I get asked a question like: "so, you guys pulled this one out at the last second. How did that feel?" when my player wasn't even on the floor at that point?Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
Do you guys play all the games or just sim them? I play them all on 10 min quarters and am wondering whether I should just sim some of them. I average 48 ppg, 9 rpg, 6 apg mostly because of 10 min quarters. Also what skills are most important for a center?Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
Offensive boards are quite tricky. One thing I do is stand right in front of the basket and box out immediately when the shot clock is running down. My CPU-controlled teammates seem to be incapable of shooting until there are 3 seconds or less on the clock, so I figure I'll hang out down there with my PF or C My Player and get easy boards, followed by easy standing dunks and maybe even a 3-point play.Comment

Having a blast really. Didn't think I would. Only thing that bothers me a little is other teams shooting 3 like crazy and I can't do much about it beeing a center. Like versus the magic right now, we played really good but they shot 14/30 from 3. Might be an issue if every teams shots like that.
Almost every player they have can shoot 3s

Season 2 I simmed again and I only played like 25 games (key games, all star game, rookie-soph)
I still have 4 key games left and then onto the playoffs

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
I'm not sure if this has already been said, but i play on pro/DEFAULT and i do not experience terrible trades, teammates that can't make shots, or the CPU not missing from three. IDK if that is the reason, but it might be worth it to give it a try.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
This game makes me want to pull my hair out. For some reason my player cannot shoot the ball at all im 38% from the field in the past 5 games. I have a 95 from 3 90 midrange 90 layup and great shooting ability why do I brick wide open shots over and over againComment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
My SF has a 90 midrange, 93 consistency, and I'll still miss wide open jumpers from time to time.Comment
