Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread

I have a quick question, I'm not sure this is the thread for it, but here it goes.. What do guys do with players who are upset about playing time? For example, I have E'Twaun Moore who hasn't even dressed this year and is starting to become unsettled. Barring injury he may not see the floor at all this season, so is it better to just ship him off to the D-League?

I'm having the same problem with Marquis Daniels because he's pretty much my 11th man. However, I want to keep him somewhat happy because if someone goes down then he may see significant time. I guess the only thing to do is give him more playing time, but I prefer to play Dooling at SG and Pietrus at SF. Should I just let him get angry or let him force my hand?

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread

Wanted to know what you guys think about the way I'm going about rebuilding the Bobcats. Basically I'm going really slowly.

Year one I played badly enough t get the eighth pick in the draft. During the season I made two trades that I can't even remember. They were basically made to dump Diop's contract and even out the very end of my rotation a bit. I let Boris Diaw go and Derrick Brown decided to test FA at the end of the season. I re-signed Augustin to a 3-year front-loaded contract. I drafted a 69-ovr SF and signed Lavoy Allen (I go to temple so I always try to get him). From what I remember this is my roster right now...

      PG - Kemba 80 OVR
SG - Gerald Henderson 72 OVR
      SF - Maggette 71 OVR
PF - DJ White 63 OVR
      C - Tyrus Thomas 79 OVR (Great season last year, all-D 1st team, 17 points, 10 reb a game)

      6th Man - Augustin 73 OVR
      Prospect - Rookie 69 OVR
      Prospect - Allen 62 OVR
      Prospect Biyombo 59 OVR
      Rasual Butler - 53 OVR
      matt carroll - 52 OVR
      Mullens 49 OVR

Basically my team sucks, but the rookie, Biyombo, Allen, White, Kemba, Henderson and Tyrus are all improving.

I tried to be somewhat realistic by not going after any FAs unless I was going to sign them to at least 2-year deals and not just use them as 1-year placeholders, so it meant I ended up with no FAs besides Lavoy. Ilyasova is still left in the FA pool and my defense is doing all right, but my offense is terrible. I might just suck for the rest of the year and then start trying to rebuild in ways other than the draft.

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread

Started a Jazz franchise because I'm excited to play with Burks, Kanter, Hayward, Jefferson, etc.

Got Collison and Jeff Foster from Indiana for Devin Harris and Josh Howard. We also swapped '12 2nd rounders.
        - I like Harris but I want younger players and Collison fits the bill. I like the idea of him in a rotation with the others mentioned above.

Then I traded C.J. away to Cleveland for Casspi + Cavs' 2nd in '12.
        - Casspi is a bit younger with potential and isn't too far a step down from Miles. Either one would be role players anyway, so it's nice that I was able to pick up a 2nd from Cleveland as well. I like Casspi's 3PT ability.

Now I'm looking to trade Millsap to open up some room for Favors and Kanter along with Jefferson at PF/C.

        Here's how I'm looking:

        PG- D.Collison, S.Collins
        - I should have him for the next few years and I'll likely draft a PG in the event he doesn't re-sign when his contract's up. I kind of need a backup PG now because I traded away Earl Watson in an exchange with Minnesota for Wayne Ellington. I did pick up Sherron Collins for the time being though.

        SG- Burks, Ellington
I'll have Burks for a few years but am considering adding a SG in a potential Millsap trade because Burks might leave in FA when his contract's up. The SG I would hope to get probably wouldn't be anybody too great, just a role player that I could package with a pick and possibly something else. That SG or Burks would be the starting SG with the other maybe battling with Kanter or someone else for 6th man. And if the SG was at 6th man, and Burks were to leave via FA,then the SG could take over. Who knows what'll happen there though. It all depends on whether Burks will be loyal to the team or not. For now Ellington is backing Burks up at SG.

        SF- G.Hayward, Casspi
I like Hayward's shooting ability and he's another young piece to the puzzle.
I'm also thinking about maybe adding a SF in a Millsap trade like the SG idea where the SF could battle with Hayward for the starting job.

        PF- Millsap, Favors
        - I want to get Favors some time and Kanter the chance to get some run as his backup as well as Al's backup. Millsap is who I think I have to move at this point because Favors and Kanter are younger and Jefferson's the better player.

        C- A. Jefferson, Kanter
        - I have Jefferson for two more years and Kanter provides good insurance in case he leaves in free agency. Kanter will likely be a role player for now, though he could be the 6th man soon.

So what do you guys think would be a fair deal in return for Millsap? I'd also be willing to give up the Charlotte 2nd rounder or a bench player along with Millsap to make the deal more even.

One deal that is good (as in contracts, number of players on each team are even) is Millsap + Jeff Foster (or somebody else, maybe the Bobcats' 2nd) for Evan Turner, the 76er's 1st, and Vucevic.

I think I'm going a bit far though as that is maybe three potential starters for Philly that they'd be giving away. Even so, they may not accept it anyway.

EDIT: Never mind that, the 76er's aren't up for it.
They wanted my '12 1st and '13 2nd as well. No thanks.

Not loving the stuff I'm getting in trade finder.

But anyways, who/what do you guys think would be a fair return for Millsap, and who/what do you think I should target in a potential trade?

Have not bought 2K12, and have a question; I am pretty sure I know the answer though....

Is there anyway to play only a 66gm season in the 1st yr of your association?

I'd have to say, I'd probably let Daniels play for the main reason that if someone did go down, I'd want to replace that injured player with someone who had been getting minutes and could more or less seamlessly step in without worrying about whether or not that player would be rusty from being on the bench. I'd try to increase his playing time or find spots in a game for him to play, but it's probably going to be difficult because he is in an 11 man rotation. But the Celtics are an older team so having an extra player in the rotation wouldn't be that far from the imagination. Honestly, I'd try moving Daniels because I try to have players who are more stable in respect to their playing time at the end of my bench.

In the end, I'd just ask, What would Doc do? Channel your inner Doc zen.

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread

Ive also started an association using the Jazz

                10 min qtrs
                no cpu trades
                58 game season

so I decide to play my first game without touching the roster and I draw the Lakers and Kobe did work 39 pts 4 rebs and 2 assist leading the Lakers to a 93-86 W

Derrick Favors led me in scoring off the bench with 18 mostly FTs big AL was in foul trouble all night but still scored 17 and pulled down 11 boards the Kanter also played well with 10 pts and 8 rebs in limited playing time other than that everyone else was terrible but I will take the blame for this as I didnt practice with them so I was unfamiliar with plays. I'll play a few more games and see if my backcourt can pick up the pace and add some production to the party if not I will be looking to make some moves. I wasn't too pleased with Raja Bell missing every 3 point att 0-5

                C'MON SON!!!

I have been trying to find out (as i have not gotten the game yet) in association do cpu teams still have the ability to sign free agents when they have no cap space to do so? In years past this was common practice around the league and teams with 5 mil in cap space would sign a 10 mil free agent. It always irked me and am curious to know if it is fixed.

Huh? Do you mean re-signing their own players with bird rights to more than what cap they have?

I had the same problem with Luke Harangody, he wasn't getting many minutes as the 12th man so I sent him to the D-League and his morale reset to normal.

4-10 In my Raptors chise. Ive played 3 games and all were the same: Down double digits all game going into the 4th, have a great comeback to cut it to 3, then I never take the lead and end up giving up like 5 straight and I foul and lose by double digits. Those are the only 3 games Ive played at all, so Im still learning. Plus I am the Raptors so its tough with them when my team rating is now a 60 OVR bc of my Calderon trade to clear cap room. I am thinking of picking up a FA, either Brandon Roy, Kirilenko, or some other SG/SF to help me out. Havent decided yet but I may just for the year to help when I actually play.

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum, haven't really posted anything. Anyways, I'm 8-5 with my Miami Heat Franchise so far. I traded Bosh, Shane Battier and a couple of draft picks for Josh Smith, Zach Pachulia(spelling?) and a 2nd round draft pick. I have Lebron averaging 28 points per game, Wade doing 25 ppg and Josh Smith averaging 20 ppg. I started off slow but have picked things up, on a 3 game win streak. Just blew out Orlando. I have run into a problem concerning the difficulty which I have a post about over in another section of the 2K forum. If anybody was to check that out that'd be awesome.

I just traded Dwight Howard for Rondo and a first round pick. Not ideal, but I love Rondo. I then flipped Jameer Nelson and the first round pick for Javale McGee.

                                Starting Lineup:

                                (1) Rondo
                                (2) Richardson
                                (3) Turkoglu
                                (4) Big Baby Davis
                                (5) McGee

6th Man- Ryan Anderson, JJ Redick.

I think I made out pretty well as far as the Dwight Howard situation goes. I've maintained the talent level for the most part, and got Rondo with his 4 year contract. McGee's is up after this year, but I can't see why I wouldn't be able to sign him. I'm 15-11,and am 5th in the conference.
