ATL is dying to dump his contract in this game. In the process of rebuilding the Cavs one of the first things I did was put Jamison on the trading block to get back draft picks/ young prospects and ATL offered Joe Johnson and Jeff Teague. I almost did it until I saw that Joe Johnson contract, that is a killer.

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
Yeah they do try to get rid of Johnson. Im a fan of Johnson in real life, but its tough to take him on for that many years with that much money going to him. If you like him in the game, he is definetly worth it, but Id use him outside of association before accepting a trade to get himComment

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
year 4 of a Nets fantasy Association. landed the first pick in the draft after year 2 and drafted Austin Rivers.
1st year 5-9
2nd year 2-12
3rd year 6-8 missed the playoffs by one game. came down to me having to win my latt game and have like 4 other teams lose theirs.
just started my 4th season
current line up
pg-Austin Rivers
sg-Aaron Affallo
sf-Wesley Johnson
pf-Amare Stoudimire
c- Gortat
notabale bench players
Rashad Lewis
Hasheem Tabbeet
14 game season is lovely cause every game really counts, has an NFL feel to it. around game 7, I really start checking every score of every game.
at the end of year 3 there was like 6 teams fighting for the 8th spot.Last edited by tril; 01-02-2012, 08:00 PM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
im just looking for some input on my fantasy drafted atl hawks team. tell me how things look and how i should go forward heading into the future. im currently 5-0 in year one(29 game seasons).
pg: jameer nelson/kemba walker/carlos arroyo
sg: deshawn stevenson/wayne ellington
sf: rudy gay/khawi leonard
pf: serge ibaka/darrell arthur/reggie evans
c: emeka okafor/joel pryzbilla
ok a couple things about my team: i originally had anthony marrow on my team but i traded him for ellington. it gave me more cap room and marrow's lack of defense really didnt let him carve out a role on this team cuz i have a pretty gritty and defensive minded team. i also start nelson at pg and kemba at sg. then nelson goes to the bench and kemba runs the point while stevenson comes in to play sg.
my plans for the future(as soon as next season) is to have kemba take over as the full time pg and try to upgrade the SG position. i like stevenson off the bench but he is 30 and has an expiring contract. ill have about 9 mil in cap space going into the off season so i should be able to make a play for a good SG. ill also be looking to find a young center to mold into okafor's replacement in 2-4 years and take the place of pryzbilla as a reserve as he develops.
walker, gay, leonard and ibaka are all in my future plans as they are all young with potential , super athletic and have a mix of offense and defense.
so what do you guys think? ill probably have a late 1st round pick because my team is 5-0 right now and should be a playoff team. should i try to find my center of the future via the draft and upgrade SG via free agency? or should i go after both positions in free agency and draft the best player available? or should i just trade my draft pick for something?
any ideas or thoughts would be great. sorry its a long read!Comment

spoiler alert-most top free agents resign with their teams.
if you draft, I hope youll be improting a draft class, the 2k players tend to improve very slowly.
if you make a deep playoff run, Id just draft the best available, and just resign your free agents, unless you are certain that you can land a really solid free agent.
do you stay within the bounds of realism. if so, you may have a nice little challenge ahead of youComment

signing a free agent sg would be the best move, but dont bank on getting an elite sg.

i was just thinking, maybe i should dump jameer nelson in the off season to free up even more cap room. he is a veteran and he probably wont like riding the pine as kemba takes over the PG spot. i could see him becoming unhappy, but of course idk at this point how he will react. so im thinking i could dump nelson and stevenson and use the 14-15 million id have in cap space to upgrade the starting SG spot and i can either draft or sign a backup pg to take nelsons spot.Comment

For some reason it doesn't let you, so I ended up saving a 2KShare roster and doing "Load draft class" or whatever it's called.Comment

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
I started an association with the Raptors, using the Official Sim Roster & their draft class. I simulated the first year, with Valanciunas on the D-League team.
Made 1 trade at the deadline:
Bargnani, Bayless, 2013 1st for Curry, Biedrins
I ended up with the worst record in the league, and luckily the ping pong balls went my way, landing the #1 overall pick.
With the 1st overall selection, I drafted Anthony Davis.
Later in the draft, I made a trade with the Nuggets:
Ed Davis for #11 overall pick
With the 11th overall selection, I drafted Kendall Marshall.
I ended up snagging Thomas Robinson in the 2nd round.
Right before free agency, I used the Amnesty Clause on Jose Calderon! (edited his salary to $0 and released). Realistic, right?
In free agency, I signed Wilson Chandler to a 3 yr/ 25M contract. Also, I resigned Magloire and Carter.
My 2012/2013 Toronto Raptors:
Curry/Marshall/Carter
DeRozan/Weems
Chandler/J. Johnson/Kleiza/Forbes
Davis/A. Johnson/Robinson
Valanciunas/Biedrins/Magloire
The entire starting lineup is under the age of 25, and my goal was to build a team that will be a contender when the LeBrons/Melos/Dwights of the league will be past their prime. The fun starts tomorrow!

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
I like what you've done with the Raptors so far a lot actually. You could still use a piece or two but you've only done one season. I don't know how good Derozan and Valanciunas are in this game but after maybe one more .500 or so season you should be in the playoffs yearly for quite a while.Comment

All-30 Offline Association:
I bought 2K12 over the weekend and fired up my association. I am controlling the sixers. Simmed to Christmas day, record was 9-12 to begin. The sixers were embarking on a long road trip (10 gms), and I have lost every single one. They finally started getting close toward the end, taking the Lakers into O/T and losing my last 3 or 4 by single digits.
Dealing with injuries to Jrue, Turner, and Speights; haven't had Jrue or Speights in any of the last 3 games.
Currently Andres Nocioni has morale @ 0. Looking to trade his $6M expiring contract. Could maybe use another Guard. Who should I get? Was looking at Christian Eyenga and a CLE 2nd. Thoughts?Last edited by JBH3; 01-03-2012, 01:47 PM.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

When I had mine before I was unhappy with what I had done, I traded Calderon, Barbosa and Kleiza, mainly for draft picks and cleared cap space. In the offseason I only signed Gallinari as a good FA. So same position as you.
All in all what you did was good, but I cant trade Bargnani in mine. I like him too much and at the same time cant stand him, but I like him and DeRozan, as well as Valanciuas for year 2. Also I really like Ed Davis on the game, and I felt like he would become my starting 4 after I figured out if I want to move BargsLast edited by Preo32; 01-03-2012, 02:47 PM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
Just started my Assoc...I always sim the first season without really messing with anything. Dallas somehow got to the Conf Finals.
Completely gutted my roster, biggest trade was essentially given away haywood/1st roudn pick for some 40 center to a contender for cap space. At the end of the year i had only 4 players on contract, Marion, Nowtizki, and Kidd who i resigned for 2mil/1 year, I also took the option on Lamar Odom.
I traded my 2nd round pick/Lamar Odom to the bucks who had a low percentage lottery pick( It hink 13). Ended up with 3rd pick with my luck. After the draft and free agency, here is what i have.
PG: Chris Paul(max contract, i wanted Deron but oh well), Jason Kidd
SG: Dahanty Jones, Dominque Jones, Marquis Daniels
SF: Marion, Martell Webster, Jamario Moon, Terrance Jones
PF: Nowtizki,Xaviar Paul(no clue who is just a scrub i guess)
CF: Zeller(late first round pick), Camby
So in my 2nd year i am 12-6. Nowtizki/Paul combo is tearing it up, but man once they are out talk about just crappy. Jason Kidd cannot run the O like Paul, and i have no scoring threat outside of Terrance Jones somehow waking up for a bit. I just have to play shut down defense the whole game. It is honestly painful, the good thing is at the end of this year, I will only have Paul, T Jones, D Jones, Zeller, Dirk, and Marion on 1 year contract. I plan to use Marion as a trade chip to get a defensive SG with some range, it is definately what i am missing right now(Stevenson like). I will also get a PG that can run the O at the speed Paul can. Good god Kidd is just slow. Let me know what you guys think.Last edited by rakuum; 01-03-2012, 03:25 PM. Reason: editted i gave up haywood/1st round for 40 centerComment
