DeRozan has been a monster and even Solomon Alabi in relief of Bargnani has been nice, especially on D. I have 3 first round picks, which is nice but I have no 2nd rounders and next season I currently only have a 2nd rounder. I have the Pistons, Thunder, and another teams 1st (Its a bad team, so that and Pistons is 2 potential top-5 picks). #1 want is Harrison Barnes in the draft. I am thinking Myck Kabongo as well since I dont play on keeping both Bayless and Calderon (and may lose both). The Thunder pick will be late in the first so Ill just see whats available when the time comes.

I may still do trades involving picks and will use them when trading before the deadline. I think my record is like 8-22 (somewhere in that range) and Im considering trading Amir Johnson and/or Jose Calderon. Amir because Ed Davis is playing like a boss and I will probably move Bargnani to starting PF next yr with Valanciunas coming, and have Davis be my 6th man bc i wont be resigning Barbosa. If I trade Johnson this year, Davis will start at the 4 the rest of the yr and Bargnani will stay at the 5, but I really hate him there.

Calderon bc of his money, and for the rest of the year Id just start Barbosa at PG. I wont be looking for players to replace them, so I may go for draft picks unless I find a deal for a player I like more. Right now, the players I have that I really like and will keep for a while are DeRozan, Bargnani, Ed Davis, Alabi and Valanciunas. After that, Im sure Ill still keep James Johnson who's been decent.

Its gonna be tough, but hopefully with all the cap space and draft picks, I can build a nice young team in a year or 2
i feel the same way about calderon and barg....their contracts are ridiculous and they both do things well but are not great all around players.

the good thing about this team is, you have cap room to make moves even if u dont trade away the bad contracts. and you can pretty much go for the best player available in the draft and FA because every single position can use an upgrade....and derozen can play the 2 or the 3 so u can go for a SG or SF and just move derozen accordingly.

All y'all want realism but you rationalize with yourself on why you deserve everybody's picks for sub par players. Before taking a teams first rd pick ask yourself if you're giving them something you'd take. So then you guys stack your team w/ picks then complain the game is to easy to rebuild. No team is making the amount of trades in three years you're making in two weeks.

I never said I was loooking for realism. I like keeping most of the roster in tact for the first year, but I traded away players strictly for picks. I then used those picks I had to exchange with other teams. Im not overriding trades or trying to be realistic. I just want to build up a team fast to keep myself interested, so the sooner I can do it the better. Having first rounders with the draft class I have which I like a lot is a way to keep me playing. Its not often I keep an association and play a good number of games and keep playing in year 2, so thats what Im trying to do

It wasn't directed to anyone in particular man. I could care less about real in my game. I don't really trade but I let the CPU do whatever. But I've seen people complain on here about how unreal the CPU is or how easy association is but they stack picks and make horrible trades to young up and coming teams who only need a piece.

That's pretty much what I was doing in my earlier post about the Raptors. Couldn't really make any trade right now with Hayword or COlderon, both old and huge salary. I could deal linas klieza and a few others becasue they had youth and the mavs need some role players so I figured some 2nd rounders is fair.

Hey guys I think I did a good job at rebuilding the Cavs. I traded away Jamison and gee to Detroit for Ben Gordon and their 1st. I then traded sessions to the bucks for their first. I ended up with the worst record and in the lottery i got the 1st, 5th and 10th pick. I took Barnes first overall then took sullinger at 5. With my 10th pick I traded down to 18 wih the wolves and got their first next year. I think rivers fell All the way. In free agency I snabbed brook Lopez Here's my rotation:

                Irving / Gibson
                Gordon / rivers
                Barnes / casspi
                Sullinger / Thompson
                Lopez / varejo

Maybe not realistic but I love this team. BeAt he raptors in a nail bighter in the opener. Gordon hit a 3 at the buzzer to win it. Irving and Barnes are beasts. I love my rotation. [Reply]

As long as you are having fun with the game, that is all that matters. No one will ever know for sure what will actually happen. I just don't like Sullinger's game though. I like about 10 people in the potential draft over him. People say he's like Kevin Love, but Love's BBIQ is off the charts compared to Sullinger who has trouble with taller players. [Reply]

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread

after playing the 1st 9 games of my raptors association, i decided it was time to simulate the rest of the season so i could really get into my rebuild of this team. i finished the season 12-17 and obviously missed the playoffs. i had acquired the hornets first round pick in a trade early in the season, so after the lottery drawing i ended up with the 8th and 13th picks of the draft. not quite what i wanted, as i was hoping to get a top 5 pick. its ok though because those picks gave me plenty of ammo to trade for the 4th pick in the draft. i drafted a stud 82 overall pg with that pick and he is gonna be the cornerstone of my rebuild along with derozen.

heres my lineup for season 2:

                    pg: david douglas (82 rookie)/jose calderon/gaudlouck (sent to d-league)
                    sg: demar derozen/gary neal
                    sf: alonzo gee/sam young/linus kleiza
                    pf: andre bargnaini/amir johnson/matt ellis(58 rookie)
                    c: ed davis/sam dalembert

i really couldnt make any big moves in free agency. all the best players were RFA so their teams matched my offers. im happy with dalembert because he gives this team the defensive edge and rebounding it needs off the bench. gee is an athletic guy that can score inside and out and defend very well. and sam young gives me some defense and decent shooting off the bench. but most of all, these free agents were CHEAP. im gonna have about 20 million to drop in free agency next year and i expect to add the missing piece to this team's championship puzzle then. douglas, derozen and davis should all progress nicely and help turn this team into a contender.

cant wait to get season 2 started !

After 2 months with the Raptors, I am 9-21. It was time to make a change. Calderon in sims has been mediocre and I figure it was time to get rid of his salary. Well, I found a trade that worked out well for me for a few reasons.

                      Thunder Get:
                      Jose Calderon
                      Jamario Moon

                      Raptors Get:
                      Thunder 2nd Rd Pick (2012)
                      Pacers 2nd Rd Pick (2012)
                      Nazr Mohammed

I was trying to dump Moon to a team for a 2nd rounder because his morale was at like 25, and I figured I have Rasual Butler that I like to play as well so that clears some time for him. I get 2 2nd rounders (I had none before this trade) and an ok center but I may release him, although his contract is only 1 year. Best of all, I got rid of the contract of Calderon. I like him, but not enough so dumping him away is what I knew I had to do. Eric Maynor and Reggie Jackson, both the other PGs after Westbrook, are hurt, so it gives them experience to back up Westbrook. Not necessarily something they would do, but I like it for my teams sake, and its not hurting the Thunder too bad. I also have their first rouder from a previous trade. I think i gave them 2 or 3 2nd round picks for it, so I get one of those back, as well as their's.

As of now, my rotation looks like this

                      Barbosa / Bayless
                      DeRozan / ..........
                      J. Johnson / Butler
                      A. Johnson / Davis
                      Bargnani / Alabi

I like that core (I dont play more than 10 unless the lead or deficit is a ton). I have Robert Vaden that I could play as backup SG, but I think I will sign one to play that spot. The other 2 players on my roster currently are Magloire and Mohammed, so I think I am going to either trade Mohammed to a team that could use him (since I dont) or release him.

I ended up releasing Nazr Mohammed, and I signed Rodney Carney to play backup SG/SF. I also signed Zabian Dowdell just to add a 13th player and bc Bayless is technically my only PG.

I won 3 straight in sim (I am waiting until DeRozan gets fully healthy in a few more games till I play) so things are looking up. Again, I have traded to build my team for the offseason, so I have a good number of 1 year players not coming back, and I have 5 draft picks in the draft, and none are mine so whether I do good or not it will not affect my draft, which I like. Even better is I have both the Pistons and Wizards first rounders, and both are looking to be a top 5 (which if I had mine, it would also be there. Pistons wanted to exchange in a trade I did and I figured they wont be much better so I did it).

All I can hope for is to get Harrison Barnes and a PG in the draft and I think I will be looking good for the future

Im in 2nd season with my Jazz. I lost in 1st round with Spurs 4-2 (play one, sim one). In offseason I traded Millsap to Raptors for 6th pick cause I felt like I need true SF (I was using Millsap as SF). With 6th pick I choose Kidd-Gilchirst. Later I pick up Doron Lamb. Previous season I acquire Wesstbrook for Harris, Miles, and picks in 3-team trade, but in offseason I traded him along with Burks for Evans and Utah favorite Freddette. I signed Aroon Brooks, Elton Brand (76ers use amnesty rule) and PF Jordan Williams who develop really nice last year.

                          Starting lineup:
                          PG: Brooks/ Fredette
                          SG: Evans/Lamb
                          SF: Kidd-Gilchirst/ Hayward
                          PF: Favors/Brand
                          C: Jefferson/Kanter

Favors has a monster season so far avg 16ppg, 10rpg, 67fg%. But... after 6 games I have the worst record in the league 0-6 (play 29 games). Kidd-G. got a poor start avg 10ppg and just 30fg% :/ Im thinking about unload Evans for some picks and young guy cause I cant really play with him IDK... In offseason I will let Jefferson go, and Kanter will be my starter. So far I still looking my first victory and it is feel great cause its completely different than winning all the time

                            Miami Heat Association: Season 1
So I started a Miami association today. I will be writing a short description of each game in the week, playing all of them (or attempting to LOL). The season settings are 82 games, 10 minute quarters on pro difficulty. I wanted to get a ring for the king as Lebron really deserves to take the load of not winning a championship off of his back.

As soon as i started the association, i immediately made the following trade

                            Miami Receive:
                            Anderson Varejao
                            Alonzo Gee
                            Christian Eyenga

                            Cavaliers Receive:
                            Shane Battier
                            Joel Anthony
                            Mike Miller
                            13 first round pick

This was a good trade for us because Andy is a defensive monster and a blocking machine and Alonzo will bring a scoring spark off of the bench.

                            Week 1: Opening Week

Game 1 @ New York Knicks
It was Miami and New York's first game of the season and you could feel the excitement in the air. Everyone was waiting to see how the new frontcourts in both teams would do, with the additions of new centers to both sides. The Knicks ran away with it in the first quarter, outscoring miami by 11 points, however, it was quite the opposite in the 2nd, Miami outscored the Knickerbockers by 13 and went into halftime leading by 2. The third was up and down but Miami ran away with the game in the fourth. The final score was 115-107 Miami's way. The top performers in this game were Lebron James with 36 points, 5 boards and 8 assists. Wade had 28 points and 5 dimes and Melo had 38 points and 6 rebounds.
                            Miami Record 1-0

                            Game 2 vs Orlando Magic
It was the night of the Florida derby and Miami, coming from a well rounded win against NY, were pretty confident coming into this one. It was very close all night, with many lead changes and ties throughout the game but in the end, Miami came out on top with the final score being 110-103. Lebron got his first Triple Double of the season and Bosh and Wade finished with 30 and 27 points respectively, 21 of which Wade scored in the second half after spraining his ankle late in the second quarter. The Magic also had a good game as a team. D12 got 22 points 11 boards and 6 steals. J-Rich scored 18 points and Turkoglu and Nelson scored 16 each with Hedo putting up 5 boards and 9 dimes and Helson putting up 8 dimes.

Ok guys, next week should be coming out tomorrow or the day after the day after tomorrow. Comments and feedback and much appreciated.

Just a note on trade value:

In my newly-started Warriors franchise, I've found Nate Robinson has fairly decent trade value, which is good because I'm already set on having Klay Thompson at 6th man for the time being.

Some offers I've gotten through trade finder:

                              Warriors receive:
                              2012 1st rd. pick
                              PF Craig Brackins

                              76ers receive:
                              G Nate Robinson

-- It's good to get a 1st rounder for a guy I don't really want or need even though Nate's a good player. Brackins is a decent add as a young prospect who could, at the best, develop into a good role player or, at the worst, an okay backup. Even though it isn't realistic I might just try to get Vucevic instead. I don't try for realism in my franchises anyway, just for a team with players I like playing with.

                              Warriors receive:
                              SF Trevor Ariza
                              2012 1st rd. pick

                              Hornets receive:
                              G Nate Robinson
                              C Kwame Brown

-- Same situation as above, getting a 1st rounder for Robinson, who I don't really want/need, plus they add in Ariza, who could make Wright expendable or could be trade bait himself. They also take on Kwame Brown's $7 mil contract who I'll likely end up trading anyway.

                              Warriors receive:
                              G/F DeMar DeRozan
                              SF Linas Kleiza/SF James Johnson

                              Raptors receive:
                              G Nate Robinson
                              C Kwame Brown

-- DeRozan is younger and has the kind of high-flying ability I like. I'm hoping he'd be ok with a 6th man role with Klay Thompson being the next man down as a role player. The Raptors would also give up Linas Kleiza or James Johnson which would give me some trade bait as I'd likely try and get a 2nd rounder or something of the sort for Kleiza and maybe trade Johnson as well, but I might end up keeping Johnson as a bench or role player. The Raptors would also take on Kwame Brown's contract in this trade as well, which I'm fairly glad about.
