Actually, I like seeing how a video NBA plays out. Can't do that if the starting contracts are incorrect. Paul WILL be under contract next year, and Howard will not. Sim universes are more fun when they start with the correct information.

2-2 In my Raptors chise. I beat the Nuggets in a nailbiter where DeRozan had the GW layup with 2.2 second left.

Myck Kabongo got hurt in the last minute (he can play but much slower and worse) and Jeremy Lin has been bad, so I cut him and signed Josh Selby.

Against the Mavs, I had a hard fought game and I could not win. I missed a 3 at the buzzer to tie. I didnt like my execution because I didnt go for the 2 quick enough and had to go for the 3. Selby played a ton in the game, and was amazing. 16 pts, 9 assists. His play was more impressive than the stats though. DeRozan has been my main scorer as he just drives on everybody and he now has a respectable shot. Overall Bargnani has been tough to play with. He is somebody I do not want to move, but because I have Ed Davis as my 6th man behind him (who I like a lot), I could see looking at offers for Bargnani this season. Itll depend on if I can pick it up with him

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread

Due to the lockout, I traded my 2K back in November for WWE 12. However, the NBA season started and I started working so now I don't have massive hrs to put into wrestling etc. I'm going to re-buy 2K this week and start a new association. I currently have one with the Nets in which im 36-39 (competing for 8th seed) however, it's with the old rosters since I started it when the game first released.

For my new association I'm liking the Nets, Warriors, Clippers, Nuggets, and Knicks. Not too sure about the Nets since it'll feel like i'm doing everything all over again.

The Warriors I really like. Young run n gun team that can shoot the deep ball and run fastbreaks. Also like the addition of Nate Robinson which fits the system very well and new head coach Marc Jackson.

Clippers, what can I say? who isn't excited to play with the Clippers? With the addition of Butler and CP3 the Clippers are an exciting team to play with especially with CP3 at pg and Blake down low. LOB CITY!!

Nuggets I really like. Although they are not a team with stars, they have alot of really good players and depth in their Roster and can also compete which is something i'll enjoy. Being able to have a high win pct. with a team full of good players rather than stars.

Knicks- gotta support my hometown team. I really like the Knicks with Melo n Amare as the core. I love the addition of Chandler and B-Davis and Bibby should also be fun to use while running an offense.

What do you guys think? not too sure who to roll with yet.

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread

I did a fantasy draft and gave myself the 5th pick in the* draft and took Durant with my top pick. Here is my roster after the draft:
          *
          Jrue Holiday / Jameer Nelson
          Ben Gordon / Jason Richardson
          Kevin Durant / Thorton
          Josh Smith / Kris Humphries
          Brook Lopez / Semi Urdan
          *
I made a couple trades. Traded Ben Gordon and Jrue Holiday for Ben Gay. I also traded Kris Humphries for Gilbert Arenas and Channing Frye. Now Here is m current rotation
          *
          Arenas / Nelson
          Gay / Richardson
          Durant / Thorton
          Smith* / Channing Frye
          Lopez / Erdan
          *
Gay and Durant are beasts when they are on the floor together.* I have created my big 3 in Josh Smith, Rudy Gay, and Durant. In my 1st game before I made the trades Durant put up 50 but nobody would be able to put the ball in the hole like Durant so I made the trade for Gay.* I am 1-1 and in my 2nd game I lost to the Bobcats led by LeBron and Raymon Felton.* I like this team* and the build up of the team and I have guys all over the floor that can score.*

I just did a rebuild of the Spurs. My game is off so I am going off Memory. I simmed year 1 to do the rebuilding. All trades were thru Trade Finder.

Traded Duncan and Jefferson to the Bulls for Boozer and Deng. (Don't know why they'd offer me that).

Traded Parker for a first and some scrub who I cut.

Traded Deng and my 2nd rounder for a first round pick.

with 3 #1's I drafted Tyler Zeller, Josiah Turner, and Andre Drummond.

Didn't sign any big FA (Cap Room) but added Thabeet and Bellinelli

2012-2013 Spurs will be young but the Window will be open longer now I believe.

Plus if I fall out of contention, Ginobili and Boozer can be dealt since their contracts are expiring.

              PG: Turner, Ford, Joseph
              SG: Ginobili, Bellinelli
              SF: Leonard, Green
              PF: Boozer, Drummond, Splitter
              C: Zeller, Thabeet, Bonner

              Rookie Ratings

              Zeller = 77
              Turner = 74
              Drummond = 74

I have a question and maybe it's been asked. Why is it at the end of my association. In the off season there are free agents that have more time on there contract. Like Chuck Hayes, and some others. Is the CPU releasing them and if they are thats not fair. Anyone else seeing this too?

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread

Another tough loss, this time to the Warriors. I lost at home by 4 in a game where I missed many opportunities at the FT line (I have it on real FT %). I had a big game from DeRozan, with 36 pts, 9 revs, 2 asts, 2 steals and shot great. Josh Selby played big minutes again in place of Kabongo and had 12 pts and 20 assists. He did have a big TO though late that cost us. Also shot very well with Bargnani as he had 28, so my offense is there.

FTs were the rough spot. 32/46. So many FTs and I missed 14. That killed me. GS was 31/34. I think I need to make some changes with my bench. Other than Selby (who has played starter minutes both games Ive had him) and Ed Davis, the rest are playing bad. James Johnson, Reggie Williams and Solomon Alabi. I may have to make a trade here to upgrade my bench a bit. Johnson will be the one I look to trade the most because he just doesnt contribute for me at all, and when I struggle with Barnes, Im left with a bad replacement since Williams and Johnson both are struggling to shoot and do anything. I'll have to see what I can get.

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread

I started the 2nd season in my association last night. I use the Orlando Magic. I made some moves that I thought would pay off during the season, but I was ultimately wrong. I traded Hedo Turkoglu, Brandon Bass, and Daniel Orton to Indiana for Danny Grainger, Tyler Hansborough, Quentin Richardson and their 1st round pick. I also traded Jason Richardson and Ryan Anderson to Atlanta for Tracy McGrady and Zaza Pachulia. Grainger played ok, but didn't bust out like I thought he would. I got eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Hawks. Dwight Howard did win the rebounding title and also the Defensive POY for me.

So, as I advanced to the offseason and progressed through the different steps, I saw that Chris Paul declined his option to stay in LA. This made me adjust my strategy. I traded Jameer Nelson and my 2013 1st rd pick to the Bucks for their 9th pick. I also traded Danny Grainger and my 2012 1st rd pick (#17) to Cleveland for their 4th pick. Andre Drummond was picked 1st, followed by Jeremy Lamb, and then Jared Sullinger. I was hoping to pick Sullinger, but since he was taken, I chose Harrison Barnes. I then traded my other lottery pick (#9 from the Bucks) to the Bobcats for their 14th pick in 2012 and their 2013 1st rd pick. With the 14th pick, I took Perry Jones III from Baylor. So, my draft night was done and I was ready to move on to free agency. I immediately offered Chris Paul the maximum that I could. I also offered OJ Mayo, Danilo Gallinari, and Omar Asik. I got lucky and Paul accepted my offer. Got declined by Mayo and Gallinari, but I didn't really care since I got my main target in Paul. I did get Asik, Rudy Fernandez, and also Hakeem Warrick.

So now going into season 2, my lineup is as follows:

                      PG - Chris Paul/Chris Duhon
                      SG - Tracy McGrady/Rudy Fernandez/JJ Reddick
                      SF - Harrison Barnes/Earl Clark
                      PF - Tyler Hansborough/Perry Jones III/Hakeem Warrick
                      C - Dwight Howard/Omar Asik

I started the season against the defending champion Miami Heat, who I was winless against in my first season. I was only able to play until halftime before I had to save and quit, but I already like my new team. I was up 43-37 at the half. I like the deminsion Chris Paul brings to my team. He had 7 pts, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists at the half. Barnes was playing ok in his NBA debut with 6 pts and 3 rebounds. Dwight was being Dwight, with 12 pts and 8 boards at the half. The real surprise for me so far is Perry Jones III. He came in and dominated Chris Bosh for the 6 minutes he played in the first half. He had 6 pts and 6 rebounds to go along with 2 blocks. He was all over the floor. Hopefully I can finish the game tonight and start my new season 1-0.

Sorry for being so long winded.

Haha. No joke. That's why I started a fantasy draft association with the Suns.

I play on All-Star, 12 minute quarters with Yellz Sim-World sliders. 82 game schedule, but I'm only playing every Western Conference team twice (home/away) and every Easter Conference team once on the road. All other games are simulated.

I stayed with the random draft position of 28th because I didn't want to be bitch about not getting a super-duper star out of the gate.

                              My roster after the draft:

PG - Steph Curry / Iman Shumpert
SG - Nick Young / Gary Neal
SF - Thaddeus Young / Al Thornton / Kyle Korver
PF - LaMarcus Aldridge / Tyler Hansbrough / Channing Frye
                              C - Roy Hibbert / Joel Anthony

Before I started this association I hadn't played more than a single quarter of the game besides My Player. So I really had no idea how to use any of these players. I just read a couple of tips around here about guys to look for (Shumpert) and guys I liked from 2K10-11 (Korver).

My overall strategy was to get a couple of cornerstone big men and surround them with shooters and defenders while trying to keep my salary cap low for the first off-season. I think I did pretty well being $8+ million under the cap right now. My only general manager move so far is re-signing Hibbert to a 5-year/$34 million deal that kicks in for 2012-13 season.

I like to play a sim-style game, but to start the season I really struggled with simple play calling. I took for granted how easy it was to run player-specific plays in 2K11. I don't mind the 2K12 system because it allows for more plays, but there was an adjustment period where my team suffered.

The first game of the season I lost both Thaddeus Young and Steph Curry to injury. WTF?!?! Young went out with a broken ankle for 6-8 weeks and Steph Curry hurt with a sprained back for 1-2 weeks. Hello, Iman Shumpert. I only sat Curry out a couple of games and gave him small minutes until he was fully healed. I got off to a decent 5-3 start including a crazy 59 point game from Aldridge where he went 26-29 from the free throw line.

I continued to be hot and cold through the first few weeks of the season. My wins were usually in the 5-8 point range and I was only blown out once, by Milwaukee who absolutely demolished me with LeBron, Stephen Jackson and someone else I could not stop. I think they had be by like 40 points at one time during that game. It was u-g-l-y.

Recently I've become much better with the play calling and have been able to diversify my offense. Plus, I've started to become better with the release point on my shooters jump shots (Nick Young, Curry, Korver). I just had back to back 30+ point games with Nick Young including my last game where he went 8-12 from 3-point range.

Some general observations about my team so far are that I really turn the ball over a ton with Curry. I don't know if I play more careless with him than Shumpert or his passing and ball handling are that bad, but I'm always over 7 turnovers in a game and sometimes as many as 10-12. Last game I finally broke through and had a 22-assist game with Curry, though. I'm kind of on and off shooting with Curry, too. One of my most efficient scoring games was with him where I scored 35 points on just 15 FGA including 4-4 from 3-point and 9-9 from free-throw. He ended up +63 for that game! But I just had a 3-12 game with him..

Tyler Hansbrough has been awesome as a sixth man for my team. Since Young went out in the first game I've been starting Thornton, but giving Hansbrough the bulk of the minutes at SF off the bench. He is a rebounding machine some games and he is pretty good with finishing around the basket. He's definitely a player I want to keep on my team long term at a glue-guy/intangibles type role.

Hibbert is solid. He's never going to put up huge numbers, but he's always good for a consistent 14-18 points, 7-10 rebounds, and solid interior defense. Aldridge is my scoring threat inside, so that's all I need from the center position. I think 5-years/$34M is a fair price for that kind of production, and I if I manage to find a replacement through the draft sometime he has an easy contract to trade.

Gary Neal, Al Thornton, Channing Frye, Kyle Korver, and Joel Anthony are all pretty much useless for me. Each one has had a decent game where they made a couple of nice shots and didn't completely suck, but I'd really like to move some of those guys for a younger player or draft pick. Any advice?

I'm sitting at 12-6 tied for first place in the Pacific Division with the Warriors who I just beat by 6 at home. Some of my bad losses are to Milwaukee (already mentioned), Indiana (a one-man team with Wade), and Dallas (a good team with Kobe but lost by 2). Some of my best wins include my only blow out against a pretty good Clippers team, a close game against San Antonio which has Durant and Harden, and my last game against the Warriors.

Thaddeus Young will be back in 1-2 weeks and I'll hopefully have a chance to see how good my team can really be. I'll try to post again after another month or so in the season for an update.

I started a Bobcats association and this was not a team I felt was going to win a lot of games so I decided to make a few changes, well a lot of changes.

First I threw together a deal to see if I could get Love and Rubio from the 'Wolves trading Walker, Thomas, and both my '12 & '13 1st rounders, surprisingly they took it. Next I traded Biyombo to the Pacers for Hansbrough and a '13 2nd round pick. My second biggest trade was a 3-team trade between Charlotte, Denver and Memphis with me sending Diaw and Maggette to Memphis and Augustin to Denver, the Grizzlies gave me Gasol and the Nuggets Speights, the Nuggets sent Gallinari and Andersen to Charlotte. I traded Henderson, Brown and two 2nds(my '12 and the Pacers '13) to the Hornets for a '12 1st and a '13 2nd I also got Jason Smith and Trey Johnson, the big takeaway in the trade was the first since I gave mine up for Love and Rubio. I made another 3-team trade this time with the 'Cats, Cavs and Kings with me giving Williams to the Cavs and White to the Kings, the Cavs sending Parker to the Kings and Thompson to me, the Kings gave Outlaw to the Cavs and their '12 2nd to me. I sent Carroll and a '12 2nd(SAC) to the Bucks for Livingston and a '12 2nd, I sent Najera and a '13 2nd(CHA) to the Nets for Morrow and '12 2nd and then I sent Diop, Jason Smith and a '12 2nd(MIL) to the Raptors for Kleiza and Carter.
