Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread

I was thinking of starting a new association with the Sacramento Kings. This would be my depth chart:

    Starters
    C- DeMarcus Cousins
PF- A. Davis or J. Sullinger or A. Drummond
    SF- Tyreke Evans
    SG- Thabo Sefolosha
    PG- Isaiah Thomas

    C- ?
    PF- Jason Thompson
    SF- Terrence Williams
    SG- Marcus Thornton
    PG- Jimmer Fredette

I would have to draft between Davis/Sullinger/Drummond. What do you guys think of it?

Obviously choose Anthony Davis. In my Association, he led the league in blocks, won DPOY, was an All-Star, All-NBA Team, All-Defensive Team by his second season. Davis is a double-double threat for my Warriors Association, and even though he's the 3rd or 4th offensive option, he averages 14/10 with 2 blocks per. Drummond becomes Anthony Davis but with much much less offense. He averages 12/11. Sullinger fills out well in the later years, but Davis is impact right away. Must draft him if you can. Why aren't you starting Isaiah Thomas?

I am starting Isaiah Thomas, and thanks for the help. Anthony Davis is way better than both of those other two.

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread

In the second year of my Cavs association I ended up making the conference finals thanks to other team's injuries and good match ups but we were no match for the Heat. They swept us and went on to win LeBron's first title.

I knew I could improve a lot this offseason because I had the Raptors first round pick from a trade I did in the previous draft. They had the 3rd best record and a 15% chance at winning but we ended up getting the 4th pick.

My team going into the offseason

              Irving
              E. Gordon/De. West/Denmon
              D. Jones/Casspi/Middleton
              Henson/Thompson
              Varejao/Erden

I used the Fictional 5 draft class from Nsuplaya84. Derek Armstrong is the top rated player, a 78 ovr SF. When the draft started, I was offered the 1st pick along with Mbah a Moute for the 4th pick and Tristian Thompson (74 ovr, great potential). I thought about this for a while, but decided to go ahead and do it since I already have John Henson at PF and I need a scorer at small foward.

I didn't go after any big stars in free agency even though there were a lot out there because I'm happy with my team now. I did sign Spencer Hawes to a 3 year deal because Varejao declined from a 72 to a 67. My new lineup for 2013:

Irving (83)/ Finley (62, 20th pick in fictional draft)
              Gordon (86)/West (74)/Denmon (67)
              Armstrong (79)/Casspi (71)/Jones (69)/Middleton (65)
              Henson (77)/Mbah a Moute (67)
              Hawes (72)/Varejao (68)/Erden (65)

The average age of my starting 5 is just 22 so we look like we have a great future. Irving, Gordon, and Armstrong are all capable of getting 20 any game and I could see them all averaging 20 this year since the rest of my team is mostly defense and rebounding. I want to at least make it to the Conference Finals again this year and we should have the potential and enough reward points at the end of the year to improve to a championship caliber team next year.

With all of the big name free agents this year, I decided to take control of other teams once the new season started, even though it wasted 10 reward points, I wanted to make the free agencies more realistic. Dwight Howard signed with the Bobcats and CP3 signed with the Raptors. That would never happen so I traded them to high market teams. Here are a few interesting teams, some that I made, some that the cpu did.

              Lakers:
              Chris Paul
              Kobe Bryant
              Quincy Miller
              Pau Gasol
              Anthony Randolph

              Suns:
              Deron Williams
              Terrence Ross
              Andre Iguodala
              Thaddeus Young
              Dwight Howard

              Nets:
              Tony Parker
              Marshon Brooks
              Gerald Wallace
              Kris Humphries
              Andre Drummond

              Rockets:
              Norries Cole/Kendall Marshall
              Shannon Brown
              Wesley Johnson
              Patrick Patterson
              Andrew Bynum

              Spurs:
              Jrue Holiday
              Manu Ginobili
              Tyreke Evans
              Donatas Montiejunas
              Tim Duncan

Its All-Star weekend. And my Rockets are 29-26 and we are on a 3 game win streak. We are 9th in the West and half a game behind the Suns for 8th. This looks like its going to be tight race for that 8th spot. The Heat have the best record in the league at 46-9. The Clippers yes the Clippers is #1 in the West at 38-18.

I didn't make any trades during the season but I did resign Goran Dragic and Courtney Lee. It looks like Marcus Camby is going to retire at the end of the season. Let see how we will end the second half of the season.

So I sim the rest of the season and my Rockets made the playoffs. We are 6th in the West. Our first round opponent is the San Antonio Spurs. I am happy with my team performance. We are a young team. I have started the Playoffs and so far we down 2-0. The Spurs is missing Tony Parker. And we just lost Luis Scola for the rest of the playoffs. I hope we can bounce back and come together as a team and make this a series.

So my Rockets push the Spurs to 7 games and we came up short. 4 first round series went to 7 games. That pretty cool to me. But anyway. The Lakers beat Boston in 7 games to win the Title. Kobe get another ring and Finals MVP.

This should be a interesting off-season for us. The key things I wanna do is get a Big man and make a strong bench. I might trade Luis Scola and start Patrick Patterson. If I can't trade Scola he will come off the bench behind Patrick Patterson.

                    Draft Lottery
The Wizards had the highest percent to win but they will pick 3rd. The Cavs will pick 2nd and the Jazz will pick 1st. My Rockets have the 20th pick in this year Draft

Well depends, If he is playing PF Jordan Hill. If he's playing Center then, Tony Battie (Shocking but good Pick-n-pop player), Bryon Mullens or Omer Asik.

DeMarcus Cousins would be playing the center position, I would just need a good backup at the Center position.

I started another dynasty with my hometown Bulls. Whenever I start a dynasty with another team, I always end up going back to the Bulls. Only team that keeps my interest. Well after the horrible end to the Bulls playoff run, I decided to sim the first year and rebuild the team and play the second year. My lineup is looking like this...

                              PG - D. Rose/Kirk Hinrich/Jannero Pargo
                              SG - Rip Hamilton/Landry Fields/Marquis Daniels
                              SF - Rudy Gay/Jimmy Butler
                              PF - Carlos Boozer/Terrence Jones(rookie from Kentucky)/Chris Wilcox
                              C - Joakim Noah/Omer Asik

                              >I traded Luol Deng, Taj Gibson, and the #10 pick in the 2012 first round(I acquired it from Bucks for Ronnie Brewer and C.J. Watson at all star break) for Rudy Gay

                              >Signed Hinrich, Fields, Daniels, and Pargo in free agency

                              >Traded up on draft day. Traded Kings my 2012 1st rounder (pick #24), 2012 second rounder, 2013 first rounder for Kings #11 pick. Drafted Terrence Jones 6'8" PF/SF from Kentucky.

                              What ya'll think?

Damn, how many of you people just sim in association?

If you actually play the game there are so many advantages:

                                1. Your players become better

                                2. Team chemistry increases

                                3. You learn to play good with players who have "bad"/lower ratings

                                4. Players will become more interesting trade value wise if you use them properly -> makes them easy to flip.

                                5. Development points you earn after you play your rookie +30 mins or other achievements like leading the league in PPG/Assists/Steals/Rebounds/...

Your roster and game would be so much better if you didn't sim.

Seems like some people just want to get an all star team without trying and picking them up in the off season when they got some cap space.

Boring to say the least. To each his own.
