Re: The level of Cheese by the CPU is rediculus

Well, every year I read some posts by guys saying off-line games are not that challenging, and that online is where the challenge (cheesers?) is. So, 2K made the CPU cheese all the way, and now everyone can enjoy the "challenge" without going online. Problem solved.
    My Specs:

    ZX Spectrum
    CPU: Z80 @ 3.5 MHz
    GPU: Monochrome display
    RAM: 48 KB
    OS: Sinclair BASIC

My only major problem Im having with the CPU is I find their paint D unrealistic.
      A) Everyone has perfect awareness and will have their arms up in perfect position. Nothing worse then Steven Nash blocking Dwight Howard on a simple dunk.
That and they are rarely loss. IRL defenders will get blown by and confused and just kinda look every now and then.
      B) Always double teaming bothers me. Anybody who goes in the paint gets doubled 85% of the time. It leaves them open to wide open jump shots, which if they are falling, will kill them.

Their bigs are always hovering around a good post player. Like a vulture. If the passing was better, the guy posting would pass to the open big to dunk in their darn face. Happened in 2k11 too, that hovering big man.

The problem with this is that it doesn't really happen at ANY other times throughout the game but in the 3rd or 4th, unless you just aren't good at all. Basically, you can beat the CPU every single time as long as you survive those 2 runs, and usually the 3rd quarter is a bigger run in the middle of the quarter, and the 4th quarter run is around the end. EVERY team will do this, even the Cavs, Wizards, etc. It's scripted, dude, not great design. Just like the devs in 2K11 "gave defenders Spider-Sense" to prevent lead passing and long passes, and they admitted as much, they obviously put scripts in or whatever to counteract players.

Great, so now I'm labeled a button masher, along with everyone else who experiences this. You realize you're the only one who says they have seen none of this. Even 2K people have somewhat acknowledge there's a problem with the game, so how has 2K made a great game? You're honestly just as bad as the EA bashers, IMO.
I didn't say the game didn't have its share of bugs. Most 2K NBA games do have them and I have certainly noticed that these 'runs' seem to happen in the 3rd quarter but, they can be combated. Having played quite a few people online with this game, I can easily make the assumption that there are button mashers posting on this site, quite a few actually. It's pretty much why I don't play online anymore except against friends because I am a pure basketball fan and not so much a fan of people that live for the turbo button and use just Kobe or LeBron and try and plough through all 5 opposition players every play.

I think some people that can't get past some of these issues just need to change up the sliders and settings to suit their style of play.[/quote]

Can't change them in My Player though.

CPU is cheap, but it can be beat by swag.

Yes - certainly swag and stick skill.

              Realistic play? Not so much.

Re: The level of Cheese by the CPU is rediculus

Having just now quit at halftime out of a My Player game against the Rockets (I'm on the Jazz), I think I can definitively say precisely which cheesing it is that is absolutely ruining this game for me right now.

It isn't that I'm losing or even involved in suspiciously close games all the time. In fact, I've recently been winning games by 10 to 15 points since I've started hanging back a bit and trying to run the team more, with less shooting by me.

The really frustrating thing is this feeling (particularly on fast breaks) that you're absolutely powerless to score and absolutely powerless to stop the CPU from scoring. How many times have I gotten the ball on the break, pushed it, and then tried to drive and been blocked or stopped or passed it off only to have it intercepted? As soon as that happens, the CPU launches a picture perfect break where players can just magically skate around defenders before laying it in with nary a challenge. That feeling is awful, 2K, and it needs to be fixed.

I'm all for realism, but one of the best things about the NBA2K series has always been the feeling of empowerment. I can't go out there on the court and lead the fast break—that's why I buy your video game. To get that sweet feeling of running a perfect break. And right now, NBA2K12 makes me feel awful and underpowered and picked on.

also i'd like to know. i'm not the ONLY one who suddenly experiences the cpu hop stepping, pump faking and doing under handed lays up around your players to avoid getting blocked EVERY position in the 4th or possibly hit 4 three pointers in a row to win games.?

                      just a question.

I've been recording specific instances of CPU cheese (all in My Player) over the last few weeks and have assembled them into a montage of fromage:

Wish I knew how to embed video so you didn't have to jump offsite to see it, but basically these are short clips showing replays where CPU animations defy the laws of physics in order to allow the CPU to perform moves that would result in missed shots or blocks by me. There are also several clips in the middle from one game in particular where the CPU team (the Grizzlies) came roaring back to tie and force overtime largely on the back of cheap plays.

One thing i've noticed regarding the way the computer gets steals(other than the unrealistic reflexes and ability to react to a pass before it's thrown, with their back turned) is that the rules of morphing are selective and seem to favor the CPU. For example, i watched a replay where billups passes the ball right through my player(like literally THROUGH my player the ball goes through his chest) to carmelo, who of course scores a layup. But when i make a pass to my man who's cutting to the basket and has a open lane, my guy throws a bad pass(the overused overhead pass) that gets deflected by the back of a CPU player that's running by, and of course the CPU recovers the lose ball.

It also seems like my guys all react slower to lose balls, or the animation for picking up lose balls is slower to trigger with my guys. I've had so many times where a lose ball is right in front of 3 of my guys and 2 of them don't react. While the remaining guys stoops over really SLOWLY to pick up the ball only to have the CPU snatch it up.

the cpu is now cheesing the hop step to the paint, pump fake up and under move. guards, forwards u name it.

I just can't play against the CPU. Every move in the paint is a pump fake up and under move by even the scrubest of scrubs. And that ish keeps going in.

Even though I know the up and under is coming, I can't stop it 9/10 times.

All this does is make me even more pissed at 2k for f*ckin up the ability to play in leagues. Online association is not it. Not by a long shot.
