Re: Bedwardsroy19 30-Team Control Association Guide/Discussion
When you talk about the draft and teams getting other teams picks etc. when you say only if the pick is 15 or higher for example do you mean higher as in towards 30 or higher as in towards #1?Comment

That is sort of a confusing way to look at it, but I think they mean 15 or higher to be picks 1-15. A much easier way to look at it (and how actual NBA teams do it) is to use terms like Top 5 Protected, Lottery Protected, Top 20 protected, and so on. Say a pick you trade for is "Lottery Protected"......that means you don't get to use the pick until the team it originally belongs to makes the playoffs and is out of the lottery. Hope that helps.Comment

Re: Bedwardsroy19 30-Team Control Association Guide/Discussion
Well last year player roles caused a big man 3 point glitch where guys like Dwight Howard were shooting 4 and 5 threes a game in simmed games and a couple in played games. I got used to playing without roles.
It's a neat concept, but it fails in execution. Unfortunately due to the realities of real life, it's not truly possible to give NBA players real personalities that would be reflected in their reaction to reduced playing time or riding the bench. We all know some guys who are all about the team and would be fine not playing for 10 straight games, then stepping up when needed. And we know the guys who would pout about not starting. But reality is that real life players aren't going to be very happy being created as a pouter or a hothead, so instead you get generic roles such as 6th man, benchwarmer, etc. The problem is that not only do guys who have no business getting upset about playing time get upset, but guys who are getting ample playing time will still not be satisfied when they should be (e.g. a backup big man getting 13 minutes). You end up have tons of disgruntled players that you need to trade and it's almost impossible to make then happy again, so you are pretty much forced to accept a big decrease in ratings or trade them.
Again the concept is interesting, but to really make it work requires a lot of changes and more complexity.Comment

Re: Bedwardsroy19 30-Team Control Association Guide/Discussion
For one thing it's just difficult to manage roles for all 30 teams.
But I think the more important reason is that 2K has it coded in that "starters" expect 30 minutes, the "sixth man" expects 20+ minutes, and so on. And that's just not how the NBA works. Just because a guy is a starter doesn't mean he's guaranteed 30 minutes a night. Some guys start and only play about 15 minutes. So turning off roles helps keep guys happy who are in your starting lineup but only play 25 minutes a game.Comment

Re: Bedwardsroy19 30-Team Control Association Guide/Discussion
As far as specific trading partners, I would start with Phoenix, as they've got more bad contracts than just about anybody. Not sure what kind of big man you're looking for, but you could do Thomas and Matt Carroll to the Suns for Channing Frye and Josh Childress. You take on 2 bad contracts, but you also get rid of 2 bad ones. You'd be doing the Suns a favor by taking on some extra cash in the long term, so it might even be fair to ask for a young asset in return as well. The only problem is the Suns don't really have any young assets other than Robin Lopez and Markieff Morris, so you might have to ask for a future pick instead. Maybe lottery protected the first year, top 10 protected the 2nd year, and top 5 protected the third year.Comment

Ah ok, either way is fine with me as long as I know what you meant now. I prefer the wording as Chilliad put it but it's really not a big deal. No need for extra work.Comment

Here is the template that we made to help you input any information needed for your association:
Just download the excel file and begin inputting info. Should help everyone have a more organized association experience.
Let me know what you guys think, and if you guys can think of anything that should be added to help out.Last edited by bedwardsroy19; 02-06-2012, 06:09 PM.Updates on Twitter: 2KstauffComment

Re: Bedwardsroy19 30-Team Control Association Guide/Discussion
I know it was asked a couple days ago, but I can't seem to find the question or the answer. How do you guys give the teams in the game the picks they have acquired IRL? Like next year the Hornets will be getting either Minnie or LA's 1st. How do you give it NO without them trading something in return?Comment
