NICE!!! these are great in the beginning exactly what i was trying to explain. that spin is also a great way to get outta bump animations. great job! the one on garnett was hurtful lol good stuff!

When I cracked open my moves manual, it said size ups are done from a standing dribble. I tried it and only got those crossovers where you don't really go any where. Ah man, why is this not looking like ironwork?! I'm thinking maybe I have to get the ball handler moving to do the good moves, but holding LT while moving is just isomotion. Ah man! But I got the ball handler moving a bit, then used the size ups. Wallah! I got Melo looking like AI vs MJ.

My question though is why am I able to do size ups, moving, holding LT? Shouldn't those have resulting in regular isomotion moves? I got it to work, but couldn't tell what I was doing differently. Is it feathering the stick?

Since I had this game I've been trying to spin off the bump & haven't been able to. Are you able to do that at will?

dude spining off the bump is easy. when you get bumped press Y and Y again. then quickly move the stick towards the baseline he will spin. but what im teaching is so much more advanced and it looks smooth. ill do one final bump animation video today good job everyone keep at it.

Just read through this thread... Can't wait to try some of these moves out. I knew and utilized iso moves but typically only used them into shots. Never thought they were so useful for getting to the rim! Great thread!

I cant get Melo down at all. His forward sizeup takes way to long to reach to different levels. An his side ones are jus slow crosses

you just have to practice it. just take your time and use finesse - it'll come. if you don't like melo's size up moves, you can always change them.

Everytime I use one of the escape it goes into a canned animation an if I dnt shoot it pauses. Doesnt matter the timing, it seems predetermined.

Great thread ironwork. Thanks for all your help and videos. I primarily play on broadcast camera so I'm still learning.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

Re: EXPLAINING THE DIFFERENT LEVELS OF SIZEUPS

I think this is starting to help me a little bit. I'm spending more time experimenting with sizeups that's for sure. So that is fun. I have a ? for ironwork or thuglife or any other proficient dribbler...

When you see that you have your defender rocking and you are ready to explode in a specific direction toward the hoop, do you press the turbo before you take off? Or do you stay off turbo until you get near the basket for the dunk?

I blow by my defender like always (only with more style now that I'm trying to use more animations) but I can't actually beat them to the basket. My attempted layup is always some silly contact shot that takes away the prettiness of everything.

In MyPlayer, when I have all my max stats I have no problems. But I am just playing mostly offline association with Classic Teams lately. I'm not able to get many nice-looking layup attempts.

In 95% of the time since I play My Player all the time the last couple of months and I can't spin D-Will yet..Only player that I can't spin of is him..

The moving by feathering the stick is one big helper with the sizeups. Also i was playing assoc. on all star and with on ball defense at 50 i couldnt get the defender to shake like iron's on hall of fame.So i got a crazy idea. What if i move the on ball defense slider for the CPU at 90 to emulate hall of fame level. And then the defenders started getting closer on the perimeter and shaking more.

Then i wanted to test that in a game.Sure my shooting got worse cause defenders stick with you quicker on open shooters but...ankle breakers got easier cause defenders reacted more that way.Another thing i noticed with on ball defense that high was my passing got better.I cant explain it but on fast breaks the defenders of the cpu were rushing more to cover me (like they would do in real life) and i had some crazy angles open for cutters.Set plays also were working better.Pick n rolls-- no problem with 2 defenders up on my face ,easy pass for the roll guy.

So my suggestion is ,if you are a sim player that likes a kind of ball moving basketball give it a try with higher on ball defense for the CPU.When tha d slider is 70 or below defenders are waiting deeper and clogging the lanes.Yes you will shoot worse at first but you will be able to do things you see on real games. For an instance i passed the ball 5 times with crisp passes ,behind the back stuff, on a fastbreak and it work beautifully.Previously tha defender was always there waiting for me inside the paint and covering any angle.

And not using turbo as much as you can helps a lot with driving.Starting layups earlier when you have room helps with that. You dont need to send the defender the other way every time. You can just create some momentum forward (using sizeups or hesitation) and open a driving lane and the layup is there.

Interesting thanks for the tip man! I do notice defenders sticking back away from me when I isolate alot so I will give that a try.

99.% of the time i use drive camera set at 7 to 2. i used to play on broadcast not anymore. i find useing sizeups is easier for me on this camera. when i am feeling really froggy ill do action 2 reverse but thats rare.
